Status and Training

Rimuru POV:

We're all currently gathered at the training grounds. After waking up and having breakfast we were introduced to the head knight named Meld who will be handling our training. Meld brought out small transparent plates measuring 12x7 centimetres. After he confirmed we all had one he began his explanation.

"Okay everyone, these are status plates. It is the most reliable form of identification. As long as you have these with you, you won't be in any danger even if you get lost. Any questions?"

Seeing as there were no questions he continued explaining.

"Don't worry about honorifics when talking to me or the other knights since we'll be buddies from now on."

After he said that everyone in the class visibly relaxed. He probably picked up on the fact that we don't like to be treated too politely.

"Spill a drop of blood on the magic circle located on the status plate and you'll be registered as the owner. Once you say the words "show status" it'll show you what your stats are."

Everyone nodded in acknowledgment.

It was pretty funny seeing all their faces as their fingers got stabbed with needles, I had to try my hardest to stifle my giggle. They all had ugly expressions on their faces with no exceptions. Since I didn't have any blood to drop on the magic circle I just got Ciel to inject some of my mana into it.

I could hear my classmates all commenting on how it looked like video game stats as they were analyzing their own.

"I will explain about your status. First is your level. It will naturally increase when your other stats go up. The maximum possible level for a human to reach is 100. But no one has ever reached this level. Training will naturally increase your status as well as artifacts. You will gain access to artifacts later on. Think of your level as a way to judge a person's potential."

It's kinda weird your level increases when your stats do and not the other way around, but that's only because I'm used to video games. Although, since this is a real-world scenario it makes more sense the way it is.

"Next is class. Some classes far outmatch others in turns of ability while others are around average. Some classes are extremely rare while others are quite common."

He then asked us to show him our statuses.

'This is bad' I think as I look at my absurd numbers.

(Um Ciel, is there any way to fake my status?)

[it is possible to lower the numbers Since it is on a plate and physically in front of me I think I will be able to change the numbers but the same can't be said for the name, level, race, class and age.]

'Ah, shit.....what are we going to do about my race and class. AH MY AGE TOO.....'

I forgot since I only recently evolved but true dragons keep their age even after reincarnation since "death" doesn't actually mean we die, we just get reincarnated with our memories intact.

'Fuck it, it's a problem for future me to deal with. For now, we need to get to the more pressing issue. MY NUMBERS ARE TOO HIGH.'

[Analysis completed. Starting forgery...completed]

'Whew,' I mentally wipe sweat from my forehead.

"Usually people at level 1 only have around 10 points per stat but you all probably have much more."

I could see Nagumo look around frantically, seemingly worried while everyone was bragging about their status.

(Hey Ciel can you show me his status please.)

[Of course master.

'Ouhhhhh, I can see why he looks so worried. Poor guy'

The first to present his status to Meld was Kouki.

"Houuu. A real hero. I've only heard about them in legends. Only level 1 and already 3 digits, and a large number of skills too. Very impressive."

To Meld's praises, Kouki just scratched his head shyly. By the way, Meld is level 62 all his stats are around 300. However, Kouki is only level 1 and he is already 1 third of Meld's strength. For a human in this world, that's extremely impressive.

Meld was all smiles while looking at the student's statuses and seeing how strong they were. That is until he saw Nagumo's. "Eh?" Meld let out a confused groan as he started lightly hitting Nagumo's status plate thinking it might be defective.

After realising the plate wasn't broken Meld said to Nagumo

"Um well, synergist represents a crafting profession.....and err....it's really convenient for forging Armor and weapons."

Of course not missing this opportunity to ridicule Hajime, Hiyama yells out to him.

"Hey Nagumo, did you really get a non-combatant class, how are you supposed to fight? Hey Meld-san, is the class at least rare?"

"....Well....no. All of the craftsmen in the kingdom have this class."

"Pfft, how are you supposed to fight then Nagumo? I mean at least you can be somewhat useful and make weapons and Armor for the rest of us."

Meld replied while Hiyama was enjoying tormenting Nagumo. Nagumo just gave a wry smile.

"How will I know if I don't try?"

"Oh? Ok, let's see your status then."

Hiyama and his group immediately went towards Nagumo and surrounded him. They were the type of people who needed to pick on the weak just to make themselves feel better and compensate for the fact they had small packages. As I looked around I could see multiple people with uncomfortable expressions.

"Hahahaha, what the hell is this? Why are you so weak?"

"It's completely standard, Hahahaha."

After seeing this Kaori starts marching towards Hiyama and his group, but before she can rip him a new one Aiko steps in.

"What do you think you're doing?! Give back his status plate! I won't let you continue like this!"

As he reluctantly handed Hajime's status plate back, Aiko turned to him and tried to cheer him up.

"Don't worry Nagumo-kun, you're not the only one that's a non-combatant. I'm not one either, see."

She then showed him her status plate.

'She shouldn't have done that. Her stats are even better than Nagumo's'

Hajime just stared at her status plate with dead fish eyes without saying anything.

She was indeed a non-combatant but at least her magic was on par with Kouki's along with having a wide range of abilities that can help the people of this kingdom, And she was also still much stronger than Hajime.

"Ah, that was the final blow sensei."

"Poor Nagumo-kun."

"Eh?!"

Sure, when Hiyama and his group were ridiculing him it probably made his confidence drop a little, but after Aiko showed him her status plate, well...

As Captain Meld realised how dejected Hajime was, he moved on. He started scanning the group trying to figure something out before his eyes landed on me.

"You there in the back with blue hair. You can come here, you're all that's missing"

Third-person POV:

'Ah shit' Rimuru thought as she started slowly walking to the front. As she handed her status plate to him he started to read. After a couple of seconds, his eyes start bludging out of his head seemingly about to leap out of their sockets, his face starts to drain of colour with his mouth hanging agape. He started lightly hitting it much like he did with Hajime's status plate but only more aggressively, not wanting to believe what was written. After progressively getting more and more aggressive he finally had to acknowledge that her status plate wasn't broken

"Well, that's....."

"Meld-san? Are you ok?"

"Meld-san, what happened?"

Meld was frozen in place and couldn't move a muscle. His face looked as if all the colour was drained from it. Sweat started to pour down his face. The girl in front of him not only had an absurd amount of abilities, a lot of them he didn't even recognise. But everything about her status plate wasn't making sense. Her level was uncountable, her stats were so high they were maxed out and couldn't even be counted, and her race was a viscous true dragon as well as having a grace. Something he has never seen on any other status plate before. The seemingly weak girl standing in front of him was most likely the most powerful being in the kingdom- no, the whole world.

"N-no, it's nothing. I just thought t-that I c-couldn't b-be surprised anymore after The Hero. But that girl is absurdly strong."

He stated while pointing at Rimuru and trying to hide the fear he felt in the face of such an incompressible being.

"Eh?"

Shizuku spied on Rimuru's status plate only to let out a yell.

"WHAT THE FUCK! I mean, w-wow. Rimuru's really strong."

She says in a calm manner trying to hide her earlier outburst.

"It's like that secret last boss That's impossible to beat."

Kaori mumbles while spying on Rimuru's status plate as well.

Rimuru POV:

(Oi Ciel! I thought you altered my stats! Why are they still so high!)

[I'm sorry master, I tried to lower it further but that's the lowest I could go. If I had not intervened masters stats would have maxed out.]

(Ah, that would have been bad, sorry for yelling at you Ciel.)

[Hmph]

(Are you mad at me....)

[....]

'Shit.....I'll leave it for later I've got more important things to worry about right now.''

Because of Meld's comment and Shizu's outburst, everyone forgot about Hajime's status and started trying to get a look at mine. I ended up not letting anyone see it and asked Kaori and Shizu to keep quiet about it. Of course, they agreed because they knew if everyone found out they'd pressure me into participating in the war.

After asking Shizu and Kaori to keep quiet about it I approached Meld and asked (threatened) that he not tell anyone. He agreed straight away without any hesitation which left me in quite a good mood.

After we finished showing our status to Meld he put us into groups to start training. I was in the same group as Kaori and Shizu so that I could help them grow stronger since if they worked with me it'd be more efficient than training with the knights.

After 2 weeks of training everyone apart from Haijime has gotten significantly stronger. Kouki's been training extremely hard with Meld and as a result, his stats have doubled and he's reached level 10. I've been training Shizu on how to wield a katana since she showed a talent for the sword. On the other hand, I've been helping Kaori with healing and barrier magic since she is more of a support mage rather than an attacking one. Both Shizu and Kaori have grown more than Kouki in the past two weeks and have reached levels 16 and 15. after Shizu reached level 15 I gave her the unique skill "Inferno". The unique skill was made from the combined information of my flame-type skills and Benimaru's Ultimate skill. At the moment Shizu can most likely beat Kouki in a fight fairly easily even though she's only a couple of levels ahead of him. I tried giving Kaori a Unique skill as well but her soul wasn't able to handle the burden.

When the knights saw that my training was working more efficiently Meld approached me asking me to teach the rest of the class but I swiftly refused. The only reason I'm training Shizu and Kaori is so that they can take care of themselves when I'm not around to protect them since they're the most likely to be targeted by whoever it was that summoned me here.

I've already prepared a set of armour and weapons for both Shizu and Kaori that are low-end mythical-class as well as having self-repairing and cleaning properties that also heal the user passively. The only reason why it even reached that level is because I kept them bathed in the turn null energy I have in my imaginary space and speeding up the time flow inside. For reference, Kouki's sword is only low-end legendary-class.

I haven't given them the equipment yet seeing as I'm most likely going to be around them most of the time and also because they're too weak at the moment. They most likely will never be able to draw out their equipment's true potential but it will still give them a major power boost.

Although Meld agreed to not tell anyone about my status he did ask if he could tell Kouki that I'm stronger than him. His reasoning for doing so is that it would help him not grow lax in his training thinking he is the strongest and it would give him motivation to help him grow stronger.

After Kouki found out I was stronger than him he started training more trying to outgrow me. Since I never trained and only taught Shizu and Kaori I overheard him telling people that Apparently, my strength was all a lie made up by Meld to help him grow stronger and I was never that strong to begin with. I honestly think he's only trying to convince himself because he can't stand the fact that there is someone stronger than he is for our classmates to rely on. I'm pretty sure it's because he wants to be the "hero" that everyone looks to and relies on for help.

Even though Hajime is the weakest out of everyone including Aiko, He's training the hardest while also frequenting the library to gain knowledge of this world. I've seen him in the library every time I go there and he's still there when I leave. I don't really need to go there seeing as Ciel scanned all the books on the first day but I told Ciel to hold off on telling me for a little bit because I'm reading the books as a way to kill time.

Even though he's probably doing the most effective thing most of the people in the class ridicule him for always being in the library saying it's a waste of time or that if he has time to read he should be using it to train instead so he doesn't hold everyone back. He's been on the receiving end of a lot of beatings from Hiyama in the name of "training". Kaori always heals him afterwards but this just makes the contempt and jealousy towards him grow.

At the moment we're all in a meeting room because Meld said he had an announcement to make. After everyone arrives he starts to address us.

"Next week we're going on our first expedition into the great Orcus dungeon to help you all further your abilities and strength. The Great Orcus dungeon consists of 100 different levels with the difficulty increasing the further down you go. The lowest floor anyone has ever made it to is floor 65 with the only survivor being.....Me. Do not fret though, we won't be going that deep seeing as it is your first time in the dungeon. We'll push forward and stop when I think you guys can't handle it anymore. Any questions?"

After that Meld spent the next 30 minutes answering various questions we all had. When he finished answering all the questions we had he dismissed us and told us to rest well for the training would get harder for the next week to prepare us for the dungeon as much as possible.
