After dinner, I discussed the details of the meeting with Martin Hansen with Colin and Williams. I was worried that our approach might seem opportunistic.
Colin shook his head. "Business is business. The more we protect our interests, the more confident he'll be in us. It's not about being opportunistic."
He said, "Martin Hansen didn't come to us because he had no other options or because he couldn't part with the profit. We're the right fit for reasons we might not fully understand yet."
"But one thing is clear: he wants this deal with us to go through. Otherwise, he wouldn't have given us the 'name your terms' offer. Do you think he hasn't found a trustworthy partner in all these years?" Colin's analysis made sense. I had thought the same but hadn't articulated it as clearly.
The next day, Colin and I went to meet Martin Hansen.
As expected, Martin Hansen wasn't surprised at all and went straight to business.
