9: Past.

"I'm not sorry but I'll have to take them away with me." A black-haired, black-eyed person spoke in a calm tone, breaking the silence that lingered in the room.

A jade hand that was holding a pristine white tea cup paused in its movement of bringing it to the cherry lips of the woman with golden blonde hair.

"What do you mean? I thought we're here to discuss the land distribution?" A silky voice came out of the woman's mouth - a much younger Evelyn.

Lefu's black obsidian eyes penetrated through her golden irises as if seeing through her soul. Well..the eyes are the gateway to the soul in this case...

"Evelyn.. do not dare try to feed me your vicious lies and stupid acts. What you are doing is not right and I've given you enough chance to change. But... seems like-"

"No!" She cut Lefu off.

"They aren't going anywhere! I've not wasted my effort to bring them to where they are just for you to take them!" She shouted hysterically as she shot out of her seat and swept away all the table wear that was there on the bamboo table.

"Tch. Just look at you.. you can't even control your dumb emotions during this period and you expect responsibility? And, you dare spout such falsehood-that you spent effort taking care of them? They could have lived better had you not dragged your snotty nose around while still green(1).

You better put your temper away Evelyn. Im not forgiving and the fact that I'm letting you have a say in this is merciful. I could rip them away from your life whenever I want to but here I am wasting my time on this fucking discussion." Lefu stood up looking down at this woman who had the guts to retort his words.

As he walked away, a loud thud echoed in the spacious room.

"Please... sob... do.. don't take away my precious.. I have never felt s.. such an ambition to-" Evelyn sobbed as she knelt on the carpeted ground.

The acting of this woman sure could win her an Oscar. Lefu felt like rolling his eyes but restricted himself.

"What a disappointment. It's very clear that you treat them as experiments. I will hear no other word from your corrupt mouth. Oh, and tell your brother to work on his skills. Still as lousy as always." With that final statement, he left the raging, fearful woman whose stares bore holes into his back. If looks could kill, Lefu would be dead a thousand times over.

Heavy breathing filled the study as Evelyn felt her anger rise like never before in her life. Green!? She was a fukin three hundred and fifty three year old elf. She could do whatever she freaking wanted.

"Brother, looks like we're going to have to move our plans forward. Contact the other families. Tell them that Lefu has become a red-level threat." She spoke with eyes that saw red as her heart still palpitated in fear of Lefu's words.

But no! She wasn't going to back down this time!

A man came from the shadows and placed a hand on Evelyn's shoulder. Even though his sister was impulsive... he could and would do anything for her.. even if it meant dying to get her wish fullfilled.

"Yes, my dear sister." He said and disappeared again with clenched fists.

"Beautiful uncle! Beautiful uncle! Your here!" A small child enthusiastically approached Lefu with small cute spirnts. With a small but powerful leap, he jumped into the arms of Lefu who had a soft indulgive smile on his face-a very stark contrast to his aura and attitude in the room a few meters behind him.

"Little boy, shouldn't you be asleep?" Lefu spoke as he bopped his nose on Adrean's small one while pinching his chubby cheeks at the same time.

"Beautiful uncle, how can I sleep when your here?! You rarely vist us and when you do, it's to talk with stupid auntie who pretends to love me, so I must use this time well!" He pouted then gave a bright smile to Lefu.

"Aren't you the sweetest thing - Oh! Your also awake? " Lefu cut off his words as someone tugged at his trousers.

He picked up Achlys with his other hand with barely any effort.

"Beautiful uncle, I missed you the most! You haven't seen Achlys in a long time but I still missed you!" Achlys said shyly with a bit of excitement and she buried her face in the crook of his neck.

"I missed you too." Lefu chucked as he gave up asking why the were awake as they would all give him similar answers. He walked around the spacious house toward a certain wing when two bullet like figures flew towards him.

"Uncle! Uncle! Catch me!" A mischvious Damien's voice sounded as he landed on Lefu's chest, an invisible force holding him.

"Me too!" Azrael was next and the invisible force caught him before he fell face flat on the ground.

Lefu sighed in exparation as he held the teenage brats in his arms and with his magic. "Didn't I tell you two to not do that? Can't you see I'm carrying Achlys and Adrean?"

Then he spotted a small figure standing a distance away from them. It was a cute little Yaranyl holding a bear toy. Lefu put the four down and knelt one knee down with open arms.

Yaranyl came running down rhe hall and threw her arms around Lefu as soon as she reached him. Hot tears fell on his neck as all of them joined in in the group hug and sobbed.

Lefu truly felt bad that he hadn't visited them in a long while. He let them cry their eyes out until their eyes were puffy.

"Uncle are you leaving again?" Adrean asked with his legs around Lefu's waist, straddling him while he sat on the bed.

They were in the kids room after the emotional outburst in the hall and Adrean, being himself, claimed Lefu's lap as his territory.

The others could only look on with jealousy and squeezed themselves beside Lefu, desperate for some closeness to him.

Feeling all eyes on him, Lefu cleared his throat noisily and averted his gaze from Adrean's eyes. He took a minute before saying,

"I'm really sorry, sweethearts but I have to leave soon." He said seriously.

The sweethearts:(⁠｡⁠ŏ⁠﹏⁠ŏ⁠) We understand...

" But, " Their ears perked up in hope. "When I'll come back and next time, I won't just leave alone but with you little sweethearts." He stroked Adrean's head slowly and lazily.

" Really!?" All if them said in unison realizing that Lefu was just pranking them with his expressions.

" Yes, Mi vidas."

These words were like a blessing to the siblings and they immediately threw themselves on Lefu who caught them all and held them close.

"Waahhh. I love you so much uncle.. wuwuwu.."

"Thank you uncle.. sob.."

Their dramatic antics brought a smile to Lefu's face. The brats looked at each other with a renewed hope but one thing that was certain was that they were certainly never going to see that smile on Lefu's face for a very long, long time.
