It was a weird experience opening one's eyes on a new world.
It had been four weeks since Eric had opened my eyes in this world. The customs, the language, the lifestyle felt foreign, yet… he could understand them.
His name in his previous life was Eric. He remembered that much, but other than that he couldn't remember much about himself.
In this world however his name was different, Izayo, a distinctly Japanese name reflecting the world he was living in.
In front of Izayo was a large building, and on top was the kanji of Fire.
The ninja academy, it would be his first day today. Izayo took a deep breath. He was lucky since he could start from the beginning, same as the civilian students.
He walked to the large hall where all the students had gathered. After a while the chatter of children suddenly stopped when a figure entered the hall.
The one who wore the garb was a young man, no older than 25, he had light blonde hair and a charismatic smile. He was the boss man of the village aka the hokage.
'As I thought, the Kyuubi attack hasn't happened yet.' Izayo thought, looking at the man in front of him but he knew it was close.
His current objective was to survive the nine tails rampage against the village. The main problem with that was that he didn't know when exactly it happened.
After the somewhat rousing speech about the village and all that jazz, the class simply continued.
As he was a civilian born he wasn't in any of the upper sections. His class was filled with mobs like him.. and he liked that since that meant less trouble.
But it also meant that he was a disposable piece of trash, and if he wanted to survive in this world, he definitely shouldn't be stuck as a disposable piece of trash.
Izayo definitely thought about being something else than a shinobi, and while that definitely would make him able to survive.
He definitely won't be able to thrive. Having nothing to rely on except law to keep you safe was a terrible idea in a place filled with superhumans who can summon disasters.
So, he decided to be a shinobi, and deep down he was still hoping that he would awaken some kind of secret cheat to survive in this world.
After the relatively uneventful classes, he went to his home. Now, he wasn't an orphan. That was one thing he was happy about.
Having parental support came a long way when dealing with a stressful situation like you know, being thrown into a new world.
He opened the gate to his house. To his surprise, his father was waiting for him, "How was school today, little guy?" His father, Masaki asked.
"It was uneventful, dad. The classes were pretty boring but I got to learn some new stuff, like how to act as a ninja." Izayo said, the childlike innocence permeating in his voice.
"Haha, Well that's how it is in the first year, or so I have heard." His father said.
His father and mother ran a tailor shop, it wasn't really big but it was enough for a three man family to live comfortably.
"Oh, welcome home dear." His mother, Mizuki said, with a smile.
Their chat continued for a while as the night fell and it was time for bed.
The next morning,
Izayo woke up, he was always an early bird. After some light stretches, he went to the kitchen for breakfast.
After the delicious meal that his mother had prepared for him, he got ready to head to school.
The class was.. uneventful well until some of the clan kids came to their class to annoy them and prove their superiority or something, don't know they were still kids.
After a small "fight" between some of the rowdier kids from both classes. The sensei had come to pacify the mess.
It wasn't really a fight as the clan kids just beat the civilians black and blue. The worst part was they got away scot free.
Izayo sighed at the blatant corruption, but it wasn't like he could do anything against it now.
The class again went smoothly with no other problems.
As Izayo returned home, he thought about the fight that happened today. He realised the gap between him and the clan kids.. if he wanted to make something of himself, he had to practise.. alot.
So, he plucked a leaf on his way home and decided that he would practise the leaf sticking exercise or whatever it was called for a while.
"Welcome home", his mom greeted him.
"Um." Izayo said as he looked at his mom.
"Mom, I want to train. So.. Can I go to the field?" Izayo asked his mother.
"Aw.. look at how my child has grown he wants to practise." His mother said, pinching his cheeks.
"Stop it!" Izayo said as he tried to escape his mother's grasp but to no avail.
After what felt like an eternity to Izayo, his mother finally left him. "Come home before dinner." His mother said.
"Sure mom!" Izayo said as he went out to practice.
….
It was a calm night. Izayo was sound asleep until a cold shiver ran down his spine and he suddenly jolted up.
In cold sweat he looked outside his window. It was silent. There was no disturbance and the whole village seemed sound asleep until…
*Bam* A huge explosion occurred somewhere in the distance. And Izayo felt a wave of fear pass through him.
From his window he could see it. A colossal beast that stood as tall as the hokage mountain.
With nine tails that seemed to whip up a storm and with a mighty roar. It had woken the once asleep village. The Kyuubi, the strongest tail beast.
*Dam* The door to his door suddenly opened. "Izayo, we need to get out of here quick." His father said as they hurried outside their home.
'Hysteria' That was the only way to describe the situation unfolding in front of him. The rampage of the Kyuubi was ongoing right on the horizon as countless civilians were led to the shelter by shinobi.
Izayo and his parents had safely made it to a shelter. Izayo breathed a sigh of relief. His mother was tightly holding him.
A Lot of people around him were praying. Some kids were crying and some were fighting. Some mourning the death of their loved ones, some, consoling the grieving ones.
They could still hear the rampage of the Kyuubi. He saw the shinobi keeping watch over the gate, widened his eyes and turned to the crowd to say something but…
*Bam* The roof of the shelter cracked as a huge claw descended down the shelter.
The claw and the rubble itself trampled and killed many people. Then the beast tore the shelter to shreds.
The panic caused people to disperse and it turned into a stampede. His father held both his and his mother's hand and ran towards the exit.
But on the way, Izayo tripped on a pile of iron rods. His father with all his might carried him but, the crowd was disorientated and in a complete mess.
He saw as his mother got pushed by a random civilian causing her to fall and then..
She got caught up on the stampede.. he saw as his own mother, the one who was the first to open her heart to him in this new world.. the first one to care for him..
Trampled to death.
No words left his mouth, he wanted to shout but his throat got sore, he could barely breathe.
His father, seeing his wife in that state, couldn't do anything as the crowd pushed him farther and farther away from the site.. from his wife's corpse that had been crushed by the crowd of fleeing civilians.
He remembered the promise he made to his wife at the start of the rampage, that no matter what happened to them, they would protect Izayo, so he ran, with Izayo on his shoulder, he ran as fast as he could.
The rampage continued, the night seemed to never end.
The Kyuubi had been pushed out of the village but it wasn't over yet, as the fight still continued.
Masaki wanted to cry. He had lost his wife, someone he loved more than his own life but he couldn't cry, he had to stay strong for his son.
He was still carrying his son in his back, running away from the ninetails. The ground still occasionally shook from the clash.
Suddenly a huge shockwave came out of nowhere. The already tired Masaki had to lean against an unsteady wall to prevent falling on the ground.
Bad idea, as the already half destroyed wall crumbled causing both Izayo and Masaki to fall.
Masaki quickly pushed Izayo to the other side as he fell towards the fallen wall, the remaining structure falling on his face.
Izayo, could only look in horror as the fallen debris squashed his father's skull.. his first pillar he leaned on.
He looked at something that rolled towards him.. it was an eyeball..
It was his father's eyeball that splattered towards him after his skull got crushed.
In one night, Izayo had lost both of his guardians.
