Reborn as a Beetle in the Immortal Realm

The main character was an average man in his past life who had a deep, hidden desire for power, which was suppressed all his life because of the rules of his past world. Now reborn as a beetle with the potential to challenge the heavens in a world where the law of the jungle reigns supreme, he can let this deep desire fully emerge, which will help him survive and thrive. Because the main character is reborn as an insect, he doesn't have a strong affinity with humans. To make matters worse, immortal cultivators have a deep hatred for magical beasts as they are eternal enemies, which will lead the main character to be seen as a villain by the humans of this world, and with his ability that needs him to devour other life forms to grow, his position as a villain is evident.

Gaining Experience

As I stood there inside the bush, frozen in fear and shock, my eyes were still fully concentrated on that frog.

After the frog swallowed the big wolf as though it was just a small fly that had wandered too close to it and needed to be taught a lesson of who was the prey and predator, it immediately went back to sunbathing as though nothing had happened.

The only thing that the mighty black wolf was able to do to this normal-looking frog was make it burp after getting swallowed by it.

With the burp of the frog, I broke free from my shocked state, my thoughts started running around like wild horses.

I could have died just now!

If it weren't for the impatient wolf that pounced on the frog, I would have been the one ending up in the frog's stomach!

When that thought passed through my mind, I felt a strong fear gripping my soul.

This normal-looking frog was actually a powerful magical beast that no normal animal was capable of facing.

This explains why it was sunbathing in such a dangerous part of the forest while looking totally relaxed. I thought I was just a stupid frog asking to be eaten.

Not knowing that I was the stupid one underestimating a creature in such a strange world even though I had seed I needed to pay attention and be more careful, it seems that i was careless and still too inexperienced when it comes to the creatures of this world.

I had thought just because it looked like a normal boring frog it would be weak and didn't spend much time thinking why such a normal-looking frog was able to survive in such a deep part of the forest while sunbathing.

This was a huge mistake that had almost cost me my life!

At that moment, I swore to not underestimate any creatures in this world since even a normal-looking frog could be a monster of horrors in this world.

I really have to thank that Black Wolf who saved my life. Rest in peace, friend. May you reincarnate as a powerful Magical beast in your next life.

After saying a few more prayers for the poor Black wolf, I started slowly backing away from the area near the frog.

Thankfully, it seems that this frog doesn't like to hunt prey actively and just waits for food to enter its mouth.

This was great for me since I wasn't confident in escaping from such a powerful magical beast. I am sure it had sensed my presence long ago but just chose to ignore me.

And after a few minutes, I had put a good distance from the frog and so choose to speed up the pace and keep looking for an animal to devour.

But now, knowing not to judge the creatures of this world by appearances and instead carefully handle any interaction with them, I first needed to observe for some time before attacking a new species I knew nothing of. With that in mind, I kept moving around the forest.

As I was walking through the forest with caution and full attention, I stumbled upon a group of yellow lizards eating some kind of yellow stones sticking out from a big dark brown tree.

The lizards weren't big, just around 30 cm in length. There were 4 of them in this group. They didn't look too strong, but I now knew better than to judge creatures by their size or appearances. So, even though I felt confident in hunting them, I decided to wait instead and observe them for some time.

With this thought in mind, I decided to look for a better place to observe them from. The tall grass I was staying in now didn't give me a clear view and also posed the risk of being ambushed by some passing animal, like last time with the black snake, which I really didn't want to experience again. It didn't take long to find a big tree close by with thick branches and lots of foliage to provide cover.

And after climbing onto the tree and choosing a big branch to observe from, I started paying attention to the still munching lizards.

I am sure it won't take long for an animal to attack these lizards and let me see their true strength since in this forest, peace was but a pipedream.

And as I thought, I didn't have to wait for long. After just around 20 minutes, the first attacker appeared.

It was a 1-meter-long purple snake. I could see it slowly slithering through the grass towards the group of yellow lizards.

I immediately started to pay attention, waiting to see how this would go. Would the lizards turn out to be some powerful beasts like the frog, or would they just be some normal lizards that liked to eat rocks?

Feeling my growing curiosity, I prepared for a good show, only to end up a bit disappointed soon after.

After the snake got close enough for the lizards to notice it, the expected fight that I had thought would happen turned out to be a simple chase and eat action.

When the yellow lizards saw the approaching snake, they didn't even try to fight or gang up on it. Instead, every lizard started running for its life in different directions.

The snake, seemingly prepared for that, immediately chose one lizard and started chasing it with incredibly fast speed.

And so, in just a few seconds, the purple snake caught up to the yellow lizard and with a smooth motion, bit it and injected a powerful poison inside the lizard's body which stopped its desperate escape.

Thus, a few minutes later, the lizard had already disappeared into the snake's stomach, never to walk the earth again.

And after the purple snake finished its meal, it slowly disappeared into the deep forest clearly satisfied with its meal.

Well, that was disappointing. But at least now I know that those lizards aren't some powerful magical beasts.

Now it's finally my time to eat something!
