Reborn as a Beetle in the Immortal Realm

The main character was an average man in his past life who had a deep, hidden desire for power, which was suppressed all his life because of the rules of his past world. Now reborn as a beetle with the potential to challenge the heavens in a world where the law of the jungle reigns supreme, he can let this deep desire fully emerge, which will help him survive and thrive. Because the main character is reborn as an insect, he doesn't have a strong affinity with humans. To make matters worse, immortal cultivators have a deep hatred for magical beasts as they are eternal enemies, which will lead the main character to be seen as a villain by the humans of this world, and with his ability that needs him to devour other life forms to grow, his position as a villain is evident.

Exploring the New World

So I started looking for something to eat, not knowing what food I had to eat. I decided to leave it to my instincts and started moving towards a sweet fragrance that attracted my attention.

As I moved towards it, I looked around with my insect eyes, full of curiosity. Looking at the trees and vegetation everywhere, with some strange plants here and there that I hadn't seen before, I began to ponder if I was reborn in the same world or a different one, like in most novels I read when I was a teenager. I really hope it's the latter, since being born in a boring world like mine as an insect would suck.

After walking for what felt like 10 minutes, I arrived at the base of a huge tree, the sweet smell coming from it. Taking a closer look further up, I could see a sharp cut in the bark with bits of sap leaking out, which seems to be the source of the smell that brought me here.

I guess my insect body feeds on tree sap, as I was really hungry. I immediately started climbing the huge tree, which felt really novel to me. Being able to walk on trees, even as an insect, felt really great.

After climbing for a bit, I finally reached the golden-brown goodness, and I immediately started munching on the tree sap to ease my hunger, which had gotten quite annoying.

As I was eating in peace, I started to feel a strong vibration in the air, which is also something I noticed in my new body as an insect. I couldn't hear like when I was a human; I could only feel the vibration of sound in the air, which is why this strange and huge vibration immediately caught my attention.

It seemed as if the source of the sound was getting closer, coming from below me. So, I stopped eating and turned to look at the source of this sound.

"My goodness! That's a Huge Centipede!"

I stared in awe as a huge red centipede crawled at the base of the tree. Even compared to the thick and towering trees, this red centipede looked huge. It was probably 100 times bigger than me!

Which was shocking since I know I wasn't a small insect. When I made my way to the tree sap, I had seen leaves of fallen trees, and I was as big as those leaves. And those were leaves of huge trees, so they were for sure bigger than a human palm. So, I was at least 17cm long.

And even then, I was insignificant compared to that behemoth of a centipede, its huge legs delving deep pits in the ground, every single leg making booming sounds. It was simply a war machine!!

I immediately looked away from it, turning back, and I started running up the tree at full speed!

I had to get as far away from that thing as possible!

After some time of climbing, the vibrations started to fade. It seems I am too insignificant to attract the attention of such a beast, which I was very glad for!

But now that I got away from that thing, I finally began to realize something: there is no way this is my old world!

If such things existed in my old world, then humans would be only food. So, I guess I was reincarnated in another world, like I had suspected.

Well, this is a good thing as well; at least there is a chance that I can grow stronger somehow. But first, I have to go back and eat! Darn centipede disturbing my meal! How rude!"
