Chapter 5

[Task: Save the child from the car!

Ru Shi looked at the little boy on the road who picking up his transformers and then at the race car coming at high speed. The surrounding people also noticed the situation but it was too late to stop the car or help the child.

Without thinking twice, she accepted the task and then in the blink of an eye, she swooped the boy in the embrace, rolling across the street just as the race car zoomed at the place where the boy previously stood.

The surrounding was silent as everyone was stunned at the sight of the young girl saving the child.

"A-Zhu!"

An elderly lady came rushing up to Ru Shi and the boy, most probably the child's mother.

"Mommy!" The scared Boy jumped into his mother's arms as large tear drops escaped his eyes. He was bawling as the shock of the near death experience finally caught up with him.

"Thank you! Thank you so much!!"

The lady thanked Ru Shi as she patted away the dust from her shirt and pants, "It's alright. I couldn't stand still and do nothing."

Not wanting to attract more attention to herself, Ru Shi entered the store, letting the people outside deal with the driver of the car and began shopping.

Vegetables, some fruits, fish, meat, eggs, junks and coke!

Writing her address, she asked the stuff, other than the vegetables and eggs to be delivered. She paid extra 30 yuan for delivery and left the store not expecting the lady and child to stop her in front of the store.

"Sister, thank you for saving me."

The child, who was no older than 7 bowed and said as he slowly handed Ru Shi a Cola flavoured lollipop.

And Ru Shi, who had a slight addiction to coke happily accepted the lollipop.

"No worries. It's what i should do."

With that, the three parted ways as she returned to the apartment.

It was around 1 pm so having ample time, she finally decided to catch up with her studies and homework.

The school was having winter vacation for a month so tomorrow was actually the first day after winter vacation that school opens. Ru Shi couldn't deny the fact that she was excited to annoy the hell out of her step sister at school.

[Host, you'll have to work harder on your maths. You'll have to re-memorize all the formulas and then recall how the solve the sums of the chapters again. Science subjects are you strong point but so is History and Geography. For Political Science you need to read more books and lastly, your English in your past life sucked more than what I can express but the amount of practice we had in the void, it's almost perfect now!] The system chirped to which she rolled her eyes.

"System, are you trying to annoy me by reminding how bad I was in English?" Her temples were throbbing so to say.

[You were the one who said it, not me!] The system logged out.

"..." Don't let me get my hands on you!!

The rest of the day was spent revising, bickering and simply being mean to each other.

Early in the morning at 5, Ru Shi got up and changed into a track suit after freshning and went out for a run.

She ran for an hour before coming back at 6 and showering quickly in 15 minutes.

XiXin High School was a top high school. It was the school where she studied. Ru Shi had a good brain but she was busy due her work so she couldn't put much mind into studying causing her to be a student of the trash class of the school, Class 7.

The uniform of XiXin included a white half sleeve shirt, a black silk tie and a dark plated skirt. Casually putting her uniform on at the fastest speed along with a black sweater, Ru Shi tied her hair into a pony tail and rushed to carry her bag which she had packed up last night.

She was in the kitchen, making a quick breakfast which included bread and blue berry jam with banana milk, 'What's the time?'

[It's 6:21 am. School starts at 7:30. From here to school, it takes fifteen minutes by walking. You have time, chill.] The system care-freely said as it looked at the busy girl stuffing her mouth with bread and the banana milk cartoon in her other hand.

Finally being done with her breakfast, Ru Shi calmed down and dashed to the washroom to rinse her mouth before finally getting out of her home for school at 6:45 am.

Maybe her luck was extremely good today, as she exited the gate, a loud honk caught her attention.

It was the lady whose son she had saved yesterday. She was alone this time, "Hop In! I'll drop you at your school."

Contemplating for some time, Ru Shi finally agreed and got on.

The drive would only take ten minutes at most.

"I'm Tang Min. I still can't thank you enough for helping my son but please, if you ever need any help, feel free to call me." With one hand on the driving wheel and the other handing Ru Shi a piece of paper with her number, Tang Min smiled politely.

Ru Shi found that it was okay it accept the number paper so she added Tang Min's contact and then got off as the school gate neared. She had asked for the lady to stop a block before the school.

"I'll contact you if need ever be. Thanks."

With that, the two parted ways.

Ru Shi entered the school grounds and looked at the large institution before her eyes. She remembered the foul memories of her past life. The mean people, the sneers, the obvious partilation and the female dog lurking in this exact place.

Turbulent emotions could be seen in her eyes as she failed to notice the surrounding students pointing and talking about her.

"Who's that pretty girl?"

"A transfer student?"

"....maybe a late comer?"

"She really beautiful..."

Ru Shi made her way to the third floor of the main building and walked slowly to the last class of the hallway. The class name plate was slightly crooked as the classroom was filled with silence. There were only two students in the class at that time. One was a girl and the other was a boy.

Remembering her seat, Ru Shi made her way to the row beside the table and sat on the third seat. Thankfully, she didn't have a desk mate.

There were four rows in the class with the first and last row having single desks and the two middle rows having a double desk.

In total the class strength was 30.

As Ru Shi sat on her seat, a girl's voice called out, "That seat's taken."
