"Lawrence has really gone insane after so long."
"Man, this disgrace of a noble is really unbelievable."
"What do you mean disgrace? Lawrence is admirable for having such guts."
"Yeah, imagine pointing the spearhead at the duke's daughter. Who could possibly have such confidence?"
The crowd was divided into two sides, with one side disapproving of Lawrence's conduct, believing he was disgracing their nobility status.
And the other side was filled with approval, mainly by the troublemakers nobles who hailed Lawrence as an idol for being so gutsy. They were troublemakers as well, but none of them dared to do what Lawrence was doing.
"How dare you!"
While everyone was gossiping among each other, Sefina turned into a fit of rage as she manipulated her mana, ready to strike at Lawrence for the offense in addressing her Young Miss.
Lawrence, however, remained perfectly still, showing zero intention of dodging. It wasn't that he couldn't dodge, but he knew someone would definitely stop her in time.
"Stop it, Sefina." Clementine finally spoke after remaining silent for quite a while. Her eyes were somewhat cold as she ordered Sefina to step down.
Sefina, having realized her mistakes, quickly stopped the manipulation of her mana and stepped down, her head lowered.
"What a shame…" Lawrence clicked his tongue and shook his head.
"Had she really struck me, then it would have been fun to see the mess it would bring." He said, seemingly disappointed that Sefina didn't strike him.
Sefina, despite being an attendant for the duke's daughter, was a commoner.
If news of a commoner had gotten out that she had struck a noble in the Tatum Academy during the welcoming ceremony. Then, the consequences of such action would have brought a storm to the Tatum Kingdom itself.
Worst case scenario, another rebellion war might be triggered and cause another bloodbath.
Even Principal Osborn and Seraphine Nightshade were relieved when Clementine managed to stop her attendant in time.
"Just what are you trying to achieve here, Young Master of the Carrion Household?" Clementine stood up and asked softly.
Lawrence laughed wildly when he heard her question. It was as if he found it hilarious that she was questioning his agenda.
"Shouldn't that be my question for you, Clementine?" Lawrence snickered coldly, addressing her name directly. "I'm sure you wanted to cause a rift and tension among the nobles and commoners. So I'm merely lending you a hand."
"Nonsense!" Clementine raised her tone and waved her hand, clearly denying the accusation.
"Nonsense?" Lawrence clicked his tongue in disgust. "What is nonsense is the fact that a duke's daughter can actually be late to a ceremony that Her Majesty had held in high regard."
"That's because my carriage had a malfunction." Clementine defended herself.
"Yes, a carriage of the duke's household can malfunction. What a coincidence, I must say." Lawrence narrowed his eyes suddenly and exuded a cold demeanor.
"Even if you were late, with your prestigious status. How can you not get a single seat in the front? I'm sure those bootlicking nobles or those horny and thirsty nobles would be willing to offer their seats up for you."
As Lawrence continued speaking such facts, not to mention the nobles and commoner students, even Principal Osborn and Seraphine Nightshade were starting to become conscious of Clementine's action.
Indeed, what Lawrence said wasn't illogical. In fact, it made perfect sense.
However, the crux of the matter was that Clementine didn't do anything about it and chose to sit all the way in the back, where most commoners are situated.
Lawrence was doing the same thing, but given his tarnished reputation and unruly style, no one questioned his conduct.
But who was Clementine?
She's the duke's daughter! Her reputation was a stark contrast to the notorious Lawrence.
While everyone was still deducing the situation, Lawrence continued his grand speech.
"If I recall correctly, Duke Hamilton's wife was killed during the Rebellion War. He might not show on the surface, but Duke Hamilton's wife was his beloved and there were no rumors of him ever getting a new woman." Lawrence's tone gradually turned cold as he stepped closer to Clementine.
"I'm sure you loved your mother dearly as well. So how could you possibly accept commoners to attend the same academy as you?"
"What a bunch of blabbermouth nonsense!" Clementine snorted coldly.
"My attendant is of a commoner background. Your words are nonsensical without any evidence." She added, reminding everyone at present that Sefina was of a commoner background.
"Right, I guess you make sense," Lawrence clasped his hands together and started laughing like a silly fool. "I must have been wrong about you wanting to cause a rift among the commoners and nobles."
"I'm glad you understood how ridiculous your claim was." Clementine nodded her head and said in a displeased tone.
"Yes, my claim must have been ridiculous and I have wronged you, Clementine." Lawrence patted his chest and said, showing remorse for his action.
He even bowed his head, making a 90-degree bow to express his regret and sorrowness in accusing her wrongly.
"Please forgive me, Lady Clementine," Lawrence said in sincerity.
Seeing how he was so sincere and all eyes were watching them, Clementine had no choice but to fake a cough.
"Sir Lawrence's apology is accepted, but I wished for you to not accuse someone blatantly without any evidence," Clementine said, matching her grace and dignity as a duke's daughter.
Being benevolent and forgiving toward others, even if the other party is unreasonable.
Lawrence nodded his head, seemingly accepting her advice dearly.
However, the show was not over when Lawrence grinned wickedly once he lifted his head back up.
"Since you held no grudges with the commoners, then I suppose your duke's household must have been willing to donate some food and money to the commoners. There was a flood recently in the City of Clarkston, and many commoners no longer have food and shelter. With your duke's household benevolence, I'm sure you would not disagree with donating to their tragedy, right?" Lawrence asked, smiling brightly.
"I-I…"
Clementine was taken by surprise when Lawrence suddenly asked her for a donation to the tragedy that occurred in Clarkston City.
