Distant Voice

As Lian observed the river's waters, an inexplicable feeling of sorrow and anguish filled his heart, leaving his soul desolate as he gazed upon the vast and endless waves. Countless bones floated upon the waters, like drifting weeds. However, these bones lacked vitality or a trace of Qi; it was uncertain from where they came or how long they had been carried along.

There were bones of humans, elves, fierce beasts, and even members of unknown races, with wings and tails, appearing to belong to ancient races from time immemorial. As for the number of floating skeletons in the river, it was impossible to count them, so great was the number of corpses. Lian could sense the level of powerful refinement present in many of these unsettling bones.

Unbeknownst to Lian, his feet moved automatically toward the river, as if his body were possessed and drawn by something there. His fingers almost touched the water's surface when a mental shock jolted his hypnotized consciousness.
