The night was long, and Ella couldn't sleep. The voice and those words echoed in her thoughts like a broken record.
Why, after all these years, does she hear his voice again.
What does he want from her now?
As she continued to contemplate, she became aware that her anxiousness was gradually increasing. It wasn't good, so she got up and hurriedly climbed down the bed.
Ella wanted fresh air, and her balcony was the only location where she could clear her mind.
Nobody knew what happened to her, not Max or her mother. Stefan wasn't even on the list yet.
She hoped that after all these years, she would finally be free of the invisible chain that had been holding her.
But she was mistaken.
After all, terrible memories are not readily erased. You can move on, yet they remain with you.
