Learning

Long Yong continued his cultivation trying to open another meridian, the next morning he directly left to the Alchemy hall library.

As he entered the Alchemy hall the clerk who was sitting looking bored called out to him, "Junior brother, it seems you are really diligent!"

"It's nothing senior brother, i won't be able to excel if i don't put in the work."

The clerk nodded his head, "I can see that, but if you want to increase your practical knowledge, some alchemists hire assistants to treat the ingredients, this will let you see first hand the process of creating pills and will help you avoid mistakes."

Long Yong looked quite interested, "I will definitely follow your advice senior brother, but i need to further my theoretical knowledge in the library, so i can know how to treat herbs and control the flames."

The clerk nodded his head, "You have a bright future ahead of you, i hope you'll be able to become a high ranking Alchemist!"

Long Yong smiled and went to the library after bidding goodbye to the clerk, he entered the library to read more about flame control and how to treat herbs.

As he read the books he found that different herbs require different treatments some even need spiritual energy!

Long Yong was lost in his reading he almost forgot about his class about basic runes in the afternoon.

He quickly left and headed to the lessons hall, today they were going to study some basic illusion runes which are fundamental to bewitching and confounding formations.

After the lesson Long Yong went back to his house and revised his notes of the lesson before going to the meditation room.

Long Yong knew that today will be the day he will open his fourth meridian, this in turn will help him cultivate faster. He knew that most people don't linger in the first level of Qi Condensation due to it being easier to open meridians in higher levels. But Long Yong had other plans he is planning to reach the limits of the first level, his cultivation techniques makes his spiritual energy thicker and have more reserves, and he is planning to go even further beyond.

Long Yong was not someone blessed with great talent, nor has fate on his side, so he won't be able to rely on 'fortuitous opportunities', he planned to make his future as secure as possible and this can only be done by laying a thick foundation, his cultivation speed might suffer but he his prospects will increase.

With this in mind Long Yong gathered his spiritual energy moving it towards the fourth meridian, and started trying to clear it, even tough he felt pain he never stopped trying to clear the meridian.

After ten minutes of pain he finally managed to clear it and coughed some black impurities.

Long Yong was quite sweaty so he went ahead and took a bath before going to sleep.

The next day he didn't have any classes so he planned to go to the sect library.

He went ahead and greeted the old woman before asking her, "Senior, is there a book about the basics theory's of spiritual spells?"

"Why are you asking this? you don't have any spells nor have you cleared all the meridians to be able to cast them."

"Senior, i'm planning to specialize in spells and it doesn't hurt to have the knowledge beforehand."

The old woman looked convinced by his explanation and showed him the location of some basic theory's of spiritual spells.

Long Yong was excited after all this is real magic, and his gateway to learning how to cast. As he read the book he was more and more satisfied.

Casting spiritual spells can be done through three parts.

First was the chanting which helps clear the mind and focus on the effect of the spell and helps with the intent.

Secondly were the hand signs which help control the flow of the spiritual energy.

And finally the spiritual energy which has to go through specific pathways, this intrigued Long Yong and couldn't help but wonder if some spells of the same elements can have some similar pathways.

He found that an experienced cultivator who mastered a spell to a high degree can forgo the usage of chanting or hand signs or both.

Long Yong continued reading and found out that spells can have different effects, some can shoot fire or lightning, some can strengthen the user or weaken the enemy and there are even curses that can hit a far away unaware target, but it's requirement are the strictest.

He also found out that some spells require divine sense which a cultivator acquire by reaching the tenth level of Qi Condensation and strengthened his soul, these spells are terrifying and can directly hit the soul of your enemy or even extracting their memories.

Long Yong felt pretty content as he was right in his choice of specializing in spells, he couldn't understand those Xianxia protagonist that go around swinging their weapons and forgo spells.

He shook his head before going out of the sect library satisfied with his findings.

'If i'm able to clear all of my meridians in the first level of qi condensation i'll be able to cast spells before the others, but after clearing 12 meridians it apparently gets harder and the last eight extraordinary meridian will need thicker spiritual energy, i'll have to reach the peak of the first level before compressing my energy and refining it to the limits, this will also make my spiritual energy purer!'

Long Yong continued musing as he went to the Alchemy hall library to continue reading about flame control and how to treat herbs.

I've gotten sick since yesterday, so i'm writing this through the headache, and nausea. I had been tempted to not write anything today and probably tomorrow but i knew if i started to skip on writing i might drop this novel.
