Chapter 73: The Plush and The Beauty (I)

"Big brother, are you okay?" Feng Xian'er walked over to Yun Che, her face filled with concern. She had woken up with the intention of being the first to greet him, only to find Yun Che nursing a bump on his head and Little Fairy looking rather displeased.

Yun Che, who was using some of Little Fairy's snow to ease the swelling, managed a weak smile. "Yes, little one. Big brother just had a bad dream about fairies last night."

"Rascal, I'm really sorry," Little Fairy said softly, her voice tinged with guilt as she offered Yun Che some of her snow to soothe the bump.

"A bad dream?" Xian'er inquired, her innocent eyes wide with curiosity.

Yun Che decided to have a bit of fun with the situation, despite the lingering discomfort. "Yes, a mischievous fairy decided to play a prank and bonked me on the head while I was asleep."

"She must be a bad fairy!" Xian'er exclaimed, her empathy evident, while Little Fairy winced at the comment.

Yun Che chuckled softly. "Well, let's not be too hasty in judging her. Maybe she was just having a bit of fun."

Yun Che had barely entered the dining room when he felt the familiar grip of Feng Zu'er wrapping around his waist, his voice bubbling with gratitude. "Big bro! Thank you for saving Xian'er and me."

Yun Che smiled, patting the boy's head gently. "It's what heroes do, right?" he replied, giving a playful thumbs-up.

Feng Zu'er's eyes glimmered with a mix of pride and remembrance. "Did I do well, big bro?" Memories of him standing defiantly against the mercenaries to protect his sister, only to faint from the onslaught, raced through his mind. The sight of his sister, safe in Yun Che's arms when he woke, had been an immense relief.

"You were brave till the very end," Yun Che assured, ruffling the boy's hair. The health potion had done wonders in healing the twins' wounds.

That night, Yun Che had hoped for uninterrupted sleep, preparing mentally for the upcoming trial. But Feng Xian'er, in her innocent mischief, had climbed into his bed, earning Yun Che an affectionate knock on the head from Little Fairy. Shaking off the effects of his unintended wake-up call, Yun Che rose early, changing into his casual attire, despite the slight bump on his forehead.

"Morning, young master," Retsu greeted, her smile radiant. As she observed the cheerful Feng Xian'er, Little Fairy's somewhat guilty demeanor, and Yun Che gingerly holding a snowpack to his head, a knowing twinkle danced in her eyes, revealing that she was well aware of the person responsible for his minor injury.

Before he could respond, a voice, soft and melodious, greeted him. "Good morning, Immortal Yun Che." A woman in a pristine white dress gracefully moved around the room, prepping breakfast. As Yun Che looked at her, he was always struck by her beauty as a mother. But more than that, it was her gentle and caring demeanor that endeared her to him.

"Morning, Caiyun. Please, just Yun Che," he replied with a warm smile.

"As you wish, Yun Che," she replied, her laughter lilting through the room. There was a casual familiarity that Yun Che appreciated.

"Once more, Yun Che, I cannot thank you enough for saving our children," Caiyun intoned sincerely, her eyes full of gratitude.

"It was nothing; I couldn't let them hurt little Xian'er here. Besides, it was Yuechan here who rescued her," Yun Che said with a modest smile as he pointed towards Little Fairy, gently petting Feng Xian'er, which elicited a sweet giggle from the young girl.

Feng Caiyun, her eyes playful, remarked, "Seeing how fond my daughter is of you, perhaps we'll be welcoming a son-in-law in the future?" Her teasing comment caught Retsu, Cang Yue, and Little Fairy off guard, causing them to splutter on their drinks. Feng Xian'er, still innocent to such implications, looked on with a quizzical expression.

"Caiyun!" Feng Baichuan chimed in, slightly exasperated at his wife's cheeky nature.

With a sly smile, Feng Caiyun replied, "Forgive me, dear. I just couldn't resist." She gracefully pivoted the conversation. "I've heard you're considering the Phoenix trial," she said, pouring tea for Yun Che and her husband.

"Yes, if completing the trial means restoring the village's spiritual strength and enabling cultivation for the clan, including Xian'er and Zu'er, then I'm committed," Yun Che declared.

Moved by his determination, Feng Caiyun expressed her gratitude, "On behalf of our children and clan, thank you. We regret not providing you with more information on the trial."

"Don't worry. Whatever the trial throws at me, I'm prepared to face it," Yun Che assured, having gleaned some knowledge from the system's database. But having knowledge and living the experience were worlds apart.

He continued, "However, there's another pressing concern. The hollows are returning, and in much larger numbers."

Feng Baichuan's demeanor shifted to one of grave concern. "How large?"

"Last time, we faced hundreds. This time, it could be in the thousands," Yun Che warned.

The weight of Yun Che's words hung heavily in the air. But he quickly reassured them, "Trust in us. The three ladies here are more than capable of handling thousands of these hollows."

"Don't worry, Clan Leader, Caiyun-san," Retsu spoke with a reassuring smile, her voice filled with unwavering confidence. "We will ensure the safety of you all, including these precious children."

A sense of relief washed over Feng Baichuan and Feng Caiyun, who exchanged a glance before Feng Caiyun replied sincerely, "Thank you, big sisters."

Grateful smiles spread across the faces of both Feng Zu'er and Feng Xian'er as they expressed their appreciation, their trust in their protectors unwavering.

The morning was filled with shared stories and experiences with the Feng family, creating a bond of camaraderie before they embarked on their respective training sessions. Little Fairy and Cang Yue took charge of the twins, guiding them in their cultivation.

During this period, Yun Che seized the opportunity to test the twins' potential. He administered low-level profound pills to both Feng Xian'er and Feng Zu'er, closely observing the results. As anticipated, their bodies readily absorbed the energy from the pills, yet the elusive phoenix mark prevented them from achieving a breakthrough. Nevertheless, the system reassured Yun Che that the experience points gained during this experimentation would be fully restored once the curse was lifted, offering a glimmer of hope for their future.

------------------------------

By noon, they had reached the outskirts of the Phoenix Temple.

Deep within an ancient forest, the Old Phoenix Temple stood in eerie condemnation, as if time had abandoned it for thousands of years. Its stone walls, covered in creeping vines and ensnared by gnarled roots, bore the weight of forgotten centuries, etched with fading symbols and murals that whispered of bygone tales. The temple's grandeur, long lost to the relentless passage of time, now lay hidden beneath nature's embrace.

Two towering stone pillars, entwined in creeping vines and ensnared by roots, flanked the temple's entrance, their phoenix symbols nearly obscured. The massive wooden door, weathered and engulfed by nature's grip, remained a silent sentinel to the temple's decay.

The temple, cradled by the ancient forest, had fallen into a state of profound neglect and overgrowth. It stood as a poignant reminder of time's relentless advance, a relic of history cocooned by the embrace of nature.

Just as they were about to enter, Yun Che received a notification that interrupted their journey.

---------------------

[Ding.... Phoenix Bloodline restriction detected.]

----------------------

As the notification chimed, the Feng family came to an abrupt halt, their faces contorted in discomfort as if they had collided with an invisible barrier. Yun Che couldn't help but notice the phoenix marks on their shoulders glowing faintly, causing them to wince in slight pain. Feng Baichuan spoke, his voice strained, "Immortals, this is as far as we can escort you. The rest of you should proceed to the temple, but only one can enter the trial."

"We understand, Clan Leader. Thank you for accompanying us. Once the ladies guide me to the temple, they will return to the village. Please don't worry, I'll be..." Yun Che's words were cut short by a sudden and thunderous roar that echoed through the forest.

"It seems they've arrived," Yun Che remarked, his eyes fixed on the barrier that had risen. It was clear that Retsu and his other companions were ready to confront the looming threat.

"Big sister, I'm scared," Little Xian'er whimpered, clinging to Little Fairy's leg. Meanwhile, her brother remained close to Cang Yue.

"Young Master, it appears they've returned here," Retsu observed, her gaze locked on the barrier.

"Girls, please escort the Clan Head's family back to their home. I wish I could accompany you, but I must complete the trial as quickly as possible. The protection of the village will be entrusted to you three," Yun Che stated with a solemn expression as he addressed his companions. While they couldn't accompany him to the temple, their duty was to safeguard the village from the impending hollow assault.

"Will the trial be brief?" Cang Yue inquired with curiosity.

"I can't say for certain. While I might complete the trial quickly, if this is a trial bestowed by the phoenix itself, it may occur in a separate dimension. I may perceive it as brief, but it could take a month to complete," Yun Che explained.

"So, we won't see you for a month, Young Master?" Retsu's expression displayed a hint of dismay. She had already endured not being able to cuddle with him for a few days due to Cang Yue and Little Fairy's presence. Now, he was leaving for an entire month, which was more than she could bear. It appeared that attaining the "Fully Rested" perk would have to wait another month.

Yun Che smiled and gently petted Retsu's head before whispering something in her ear. "I know what you're thinking. I promise I'll let you cuddle with me for as long as you like." He said with a mischievous grin, earning an enthusiastic nod from Retsu.

"Hai, I'll be waiting," Retsu replied with a healthy blush gracing her face, which only enhanced her beauty.

Yun Che then turned his attention to Feng Baichuan and his wife. "Clan Leader, these girls will protect you in my absence. They will escort you back home. I'll return in a month or even sooner." He reassured them before approaching the anxious Feng Xian'er and Feng Zu'er. "You two, be on your best behavior. These big sisters will watch over you."

Feng Xian'er and her twin brother immediately embraced him tightly. "Big brother, please come back soon and play with us again," she pleaded, her eyes filled with hope.

Yun Che smiled warmly at them, knowing that until their curse was lifted, he couldn't offer them more help. He gently patted their heads before moving on to Cang Yue.

"These are an improved variation of the Profound Pill, specifically tailored for Spirit Profound Realm cultivators. Don't worry; they're not like the prank pills from last time. Consume one now and another in a month, and it should elevate your cultivation to the Peak of Spirit Profound Realm," Yun Che explained as he handed two Mark II Profound Pills to Cang Yue. She accepted them with gratitude, promising herself that she would achieve her breakthrough.

"Yun Che, please be cautious in there," Cang Yue said, her cheeks flushing with a hint of shyness. Yun Che had always been a steadfast support in her cultivation, and sometimes, she found excuses just to practice alongside him, even though she lacked the courage to admit her feelings.

"Cultivate diligently and support Retsu and Little Fairy. I'll see you soon," Yun Che said as he placed his hand on top of Cang Yue's head. Normally, this would prompt a startled reaction from her, but this time, she didn't resist; instead, she leaned into his touch.

"And for you, Little Fairy," Yun Che continued, his tone filled with assurance. "Your cultivation has hit a roadblock, but these pills will help solidify your foundation before your ascension. You're in for quite a pleasant surprise." He then produced several orange pills and handed them to her.

---------------------

[Stabilizing Pill]

Description: These remarkable pills don't grant immediate cultivation advancements, but they possess the extraordinary power to steady the turbulent energies within ascended mortals. Once the energy stabilization process is complete, it paves the way for a seamless breakthrough. Ideal for seasoned cultivators who find themselves at the threshold of their potential limits.

--------------------

"Rascal, if you die in there, I'll never forgive you. I'll find you in the next life and kill you again," Little Fairy attempted to sound imposing, but her worry was evident, and it softened her facade.

Yun Che gently placed his hand on her cheek. In any previous encounter, she would have sent him flying, but this time, she didn't resist and leaned into his touch. "Don't worry about it."

The distant roar grew nearer by the minute.

"Go, escort the Clan Head's family back to their home. I entrust this to your capable hands, girls. Cang Yue, Little Fairy, please make the necessary preparations. I still have something to give Retsu," Yun Che instructed, signaling Retsu to stay a moment longer.

Cang Yue promptly summoned her white eagle, realizing that flying would be the quickest way to return to the village. Once everyone was on board, she cast a worried glance at Yun Che. "Yun Che, please return as soon as you're done. I'll be waiting." Her concern was evident as she addressed him.

Little Fairy, floating in the air while cradling Feng Xian'er, also looked at Yun Che. "You better come back. The trial might be dangerous, but someone like you can handle it. If you die, I'll kill you."

Yun Che couldn't help but smile as he watched the scene unfold. Little Fairy holding Feng Xian'er was like a wife and daughter granting her blessing to her husband before he embarked on a journey. The sight had a certain sweetness to it that touched his heart.

"You worry about me that much, Little Fairy? Don't worry; I'll be fine," Yun Che assured her with a grin. He was confident that the trial wouldn't pose any significant threat to him. However, the uncertainty lay in how long he might be trapped inside the trial dimension. Surprisingly, Little Fairy didn't engage in her usual tsundere behavior. Instead, she simply said, "I'll be waiting," before floating away, followed by Cang Yue.

The display of their flying abilities left the Feng family in awe. They had never seen a human fly before. Could it be that once the curse was lifted, they, too, could learn to achieve such feats?

Observing this, the Feng couple shared a smile as they perched atop the eagle. "Ah, the young ones," they remarked with a hint of nostalgia. It was somewhat perplexing, considering that Little Fairy was older than the Feng couple themselves. Nevertheless, it was easy to discern her feelings for the young man. Perhaps age had little to do with one's capacity for happiness.

When Little Fairy, Cang Yue, and the others departed, only Yun Che and Retsu remained in front of the temple. Yun Che addressed Retsu with a grin, "Retsu, it seems the hollow I failed to kill before has brought some friends along. There might be more than one Menos showing up. If that happens, watch their backs. We wouldn't want your future sisters to get hurt, right?"

"Ehee, leave it to me, young master. I'll protect them in your stead," Retsu responded with determination. Even if he hadn't explicitly asked, she would have protected them. Her attachment to them had grown strong, and the thought of any harm befalling them was unbearable.

"And one more thing," Yun Che whispered as he moved in front of Retsu. His voice was gentle, and his gaze locked onto hers. "I haven't given you your reward yet."

With that, Yun Che delicately used his index finger and thumb to tilt Retsu's face towards his. He pressed his lips to hers in a swift yet tender motion. At first, Retsu was utterly shocked, her eyes widening, and her face blushing like a tomato. However, as the kiss deepened, her initial nervousness began to melt away. She closed her eyes and let herself get lost in the moment, her hands instinctively sliding behind Yun Che's head to pull him closer.

A soft moan escaped Retsu's lips as she surrendered to the kiss. It was a surprisingly sweet and passionate kiss, far from the clumsy experience she had anticipated. The reward she had eagerly waited for had finally been granted, and it exceeded her expectations.

"I never knew your lips would be so soft and sweet," Yun Che commented with a smile as he pulled away, much to Retsu's shock. Her cheeks were still flushed, and her heart raced. This kiss had been worth every moment of anticipation.

For Yun Che, this moment was sheer happiness. He had finally kissed Unohana Retsu on her lips, the girl of his dreams who really loves him in return. It was a moment he had eagerly awaited, and it had turned out to be everything he had hoped for.

"I... Young Master, was that your first kiss?" Retsu stammered, genuinely surprised. She never expected that her Young Master had never kissed anyone before. She felt a strange sense of happiness knowing that she had received his first kiss.

"Yeah, in this world, sort of," Yun Che admitted with a contemplative expression. He briefly reminisced about his experiences, both in his previous world and in this one. In this world, norms and traditions had prevented him from sharing a kiss with Xia Qingyue even after their marriage. He realized that this kiss with Retsu was indeed his first in this world. If he had acted like the previous Yun Che had towards Little Aunt, his first kiss would have belonged to her.

"I don't know why, but it really made me happy for some reason," Retsu admitted, her eyes shimmering with tears of joy. Being Yun Che's first kiss meant a lot to her, and she wanted to treasure this moment.

Yun Che looked at her with affection and held her close. "Retsu, you're so innocent when it comes to things like this. That's why I love you so much."

"Young master, I love you so much as well," Retsu replied, deepening the hug. She was genuinely happy right now, being with the man she loved. "I'm sure Sister Yuechan and Sister Yue feel the same way too."

"I know, but let them set their own pace when it comes to their feelings. Matters of the heart can't be rushed," Yun Che said. He released Retsu from the embrace and kissed her gently on the forehead.

"I'm off," he whispered.

"Have a safe trip," Retsu murmured like a wife giving her blessing to her husband.

As Yun Che turned to leave, he felt Retsu tugging at his sleeve, not wanting him to go. Her face was flushed, and although she didn't say anything, her expression revealed her desire. Yun Che noticed her longing and leaned in to kiss her once more. Their lips met for several sweet moments, and when he finally pulled away, Retsu's face was beet red. She looked different from her usual 'Smiling Demon' persona; in front of him, she could truly be herself.

With one last, quick peck on her soft lips, Yun Che walked backward toward the temple. "I'll see you after a month. Stay safe, Retsu." He disappeared into the temple, and a barrier slowly covered its entrance, signaling the beginning of the trial.

Retsu gazed at the temple's door where her young master had vanished, her fingers touching her lips with a blush. She couldn't believe that her young master had kissed her. It was more than she had ever imagined.

--------

Suddenly, a familiar voice echoed within Retsu's mind. "Wow... his lips were so soft. That kiss sent shivers down my spine. I wish he had given us a little... more." Retsu instantly recognized the mischievous tone of her inner soul spirit, Yachiru. The fox inner hollow and twin sister soul, having lived within her for a millennium, shared in Retsu's experiences and emotions. Yachiru, having never felt the touch of a man in her past existence, was surprisingly thrilled with the encounter. She yearned for Yun Che, but she also wanted Retsu, her counterpart, to fully experience this newfound affection. The thought of sharing him amused her.

Retsu, blushing even more intensely, responded, "Yachiru? How did you know about the kiss?"

"You forget, we share everything. Every sensation, every emotion and every~~ thing. So, in a way, he also stole my first kiss. Quite the feat, captivating both of us with a single act," Yachiru's voice held a playful yet sultry edge.

The fox spirit's voice then took on a teasing note, "But, oh, the things you've been dreaming of these past nights! Iyan~~~ Retsu-chan, you're naughtier than I gave you credit for."

Retsu's face turned a deep shade of red as she exclaimed, "Yachiru!? You knew about that as well?"

Yachiru wore a mischievous smirk, relishing in the fact that Retsu had finally realized their unique connection. "Of course, my dear. You and I share everything. Your thoughts, your sensations—it's all an open book to me."

Retsu tried to stop the teasing thoughts from her inner self, but Yachiru continued with playful enthusiasm. "Especially that night when he pushed you onto the bed, held you tightly, kissed you passionately, and..." Yachiru paused dramatically, "started to explore your neck with his lips, his hands finding their way to..."

Retsu couldn't take it anymore and shouted, "Stop!" She clutched her head, embarrassed beyond belief.

Yachiru decided to further tease her. "Retsu-chan, you've got quite the vivid imagination. I wonder how your sisters would react if they knew their alpha had such fantasies. Iyan~~ How naughty~~~"

Retsu pouted internally, thinking, "Mouu..."

"Ufuuu, just teasing you, Retsu," Yachiru said, thoroughly enjoying her banter with her Yin soul.

Retsu's face remained red as she mumbled, "Muuu, Yachiru, you bully." Her vivid imagination had been the result of the many lessons she'd received from her inner Yang soul.

Yachiru then adopted a more serious tone. "As much as I'd love to see those fantasies come true, take it slow, girl. Yuuki truly cares for you and really loves us. He'd probably want to marry you before taking any further steps. Personally, if he touches you inappropriately without any hint of commitment, I might teach him a lesson."

Retsu nodded, recalling Yachiru's penchant for violence, and made a silent vow not to harm Yuuki, but she knew Yachiru wasn't bound by the same promise. Her blush slowly subsided as she added, "You're right, Yachiru. I've been eagerly awaiting the day when we can walk together as husband and wife."

"But always remember, if you marry him, he's marrying both of us," Yachiru's voice echoed mischievously within Retsu. "I'm eagerly awaiting the day we 'train' with him together."

Retsu blushed a deeper shade, confusion evident in her voice. "Train together? What do you mean by that?"

Yachiru's voice dropped to a sultry whisper, "~~In the most intimate way, ~~on ~~ the ~~ bed."

"Yachiru! Mouuu!" Retsu mentally reprimanded, her cheeks flushed with embarrassment. The playful spirit simply giggled and then faded into silence, leaving Retsu to her thoughts.

As Retsu stood there, the temple's grandeur looming before her, memories of her time with Yun Che played in her mind. The shared moments, the stolen kisses, and the warmth of his embrace had filled her with an unprecedented joy. She murmured to herself, determination and a hint of playful mischief evident in her voice, "Young master, when you return, be prepared. You owe me a few more kisses."

Retsu took a deep breath, trying to calm her racing heart. The temple before her stood silent, a testament to the trials and mysteries that lay within. But as its doors closed behind Yun Che, her mind was filled with a whirlwind of emotions and playful taunts from her soul spirit.

Shaking her head and pressing both of her cheeks, she whispered to herself, "Yosh, Retsu. There's work to be done."

She began making her way back to the village, determined to ensure its safety in Yun Che's absence. As she walked, the memories of that brief yet intense moment with Yun Che lingered, warming her heart amidst the impending challenges they would face.

--------------------

Yun Che's eyes widened as he crossed the threshold into the temple. It was as if he had stepped out of existence and into a completely different realm.

-------------------

[Ding... detected the pocket dimension of the phoenix god. Host's real body is now in a suspended state inside the temple. Your consciousness is now entering the pocket dimension.]

-------------------

He nodded in understanding and began to walk within the separate pocket dimension of the trial. As he stepped further into this desolate and condemned arena, he found himself surrounded by an expanse of fire and barrenness that seemed to stretch out endlessly in all directions. The flames here burned with an otherworldly intensity, casting eerie and shifting shadows across the scorched landscape. The heat was oppressive, making every breath feel like inhaling hot coals, and the ground beneath his feet radiated a relentless, searing heat.

It truly was a place of trial, where the very environment seemed to challenge his determination and resilience. This fiery arena would be his home for the next month, a harsh and unforgiving test of his abilities. It was no wonder he had entrusted the protection of the village to the girls, as surviving in this relentless inferno would be no small feat for a normal cultivator.

Despite the scorching flames and searing heat that engulfed the pocket dimension, Yun Che remained completely unaffected. The fiery environment that would have tormented any ordinary being was nothing more than a gentle, warm breeze to him. The intense heat seemed to part around him, leaving him in a protective cocoon of cool air. The fires danced and roared, but they couldn't touch him.

With his immunity to the flames and heat, Yun Che confidently strode through the fiery arena, ready to face whatever challenges the trial had in store for him.

As he ventured further into the dimension, voices suddenly erupted around him, and these voices were far from pleased.

Yun Che's internal realm burst into a cacophony of teasing voices.

"Milord! You gave Sister Retsu a kiss, and here I've been waiting patiently!" Shirayuki's voice chimed in, her tone playful and mockingly hurt, "I demand equal affection!"

Saru and Hebi's voices melded together in a harmonized tease, "All those times we tried to get close, and you shy away. But with her... Looks like we'll have to up our game."

Hoyuu's boisterous laughter echoed. "Took you long enough to kiss someone, you sly dog! Guess your mouth's not a virgin anymore." Old man Zangetsu, ever the silent observer, just nodded, a hint of amusement in his ancient eyes.

Feeling the weight of their combined teasing, Yun Che mentally groaned. However, amongst all those voices, a familiar, more stern one emerged. "Seems you had quite the moment out there," Jasmine's tone was cool, and slightly teasing.

"Just fulfilling a promise for the girl I love," Yun Che tried to sound nonchalant, but his heartbeat betrayed him. "It was just a kiss. Why the fuss?"

"Because," Jasmine's voice softened with a hint of protectiveness, "I had to shield Mizu and Kaze from your little escapade. You think a simple kiss is inconsequential? With someone like Retsu?"

He could practically feel the weight of Jasmine's gaze on him, even in this mental space. The mischievous jesting of the others faded into the background as he prepared to navigate this new challenge: explaining himself to Jasmine.

Yun Che paused as if a sudden realization had struck him, his lips curling into a sly grin.

Jasmine, sensing something was afoot, questioned, "What is it?"

He chuckled softly before answering, "You're jealous, aren't you?"

A fiery blush crept onto Jasmine's face, her response immediate and indignant, "Whaa… Who in the world would be jealous of a kiss from a dumb, despicable, perverted, and a rapist like you?"

Yun Che's grin only widened, and he playfully teased, "Well, you don't need the 'rapist' part. If you want, I can provide you with a kiss anytime you desire." He even pointed at his lips for emphasis.

Jasmine's threat was swift and fierce, "One more word, and I'll kick that little brother of yours until you have no more descendants."

With a hearty laugh, Yun Che conceded defeat, "Alright, alright, I'll stop." He decided it was best to let Jasmine wrestle with her feelings in her own time. Deep down, he knew that someday, she might be the one demanding more from him. And for that to happen, he needed to keep his body and, most importantly, his balls intact.

Within the fiery, desolate expanse of the pocket dimension, another voice resonated, distinct from the banter of his spirits.

"Welcome, challenger, to the Phoenix Trial," it echoed, carrying an air of ancient wisdom. "It has been a while since a challenger graced this sacred place. I am the Phoenix Spirit, guardian, and master of this temple. On behalf of the Phoenix God, I seek to find a worthy inheritor of its Legacy—the Legacy of the Phoenix itself. Many have attempted to obtain the Phoenix's bloodline, but none have proven themselves as complete inheritors of its powers."

Yun Che, still unaffected by the scorching flames surrounding him, seated himself at the very center of this enigmatic realm. With a quizzical tone, he inquired, "And if I were to pass this trial, what awaits me?"

"In ages past, ordinary challengers were granted but a mere drop of the Phoenix Bloodline, allowing them access to the exclusive cultivation art of the Phoenix—the World Ode of the Phoenix," the voice replied. "However, this trial also serves as a means to identify complete inheritors. While most challengers manage to succeed with anticipated outcomes, none have truly excelled in this trial thus far."

----------------------

[Ding....Main Quest achieved – Travel to the Phoenix Trial Ground Status: Complete.]

[Triggering second phase – Obtained the recognition of the Phoenix Spirit.]

----------------------

Yun Che took a moment to gather his thoughts and prepare for the trials. He knew from the database he had accessed the previous night that the Phoenix Trial consisted of three challenging tests, and only those who not only passed the trials but also triggered the hidden objective could become complete inheritors of the Phoenix's power.

When the voice from the Phoenix Spirit asked if he was ready to begin, Yun Che hesitated for a moment. He felt the weight of the trial ahead and wanted to make sure he was as prepared as possible.

"Not yet," he replied to the voice. "May I complete a few things before I start?"

The voice didn't object, and Yun Che took that as a cue to proceed with his preparations. He looked around the fiery arena, the flames dancing and crackling around him, creating an eerie yet mesmerizing atmosphere. Jasmine, always curious and eager, couldn't help but ask, "So, you're going to challenge the trial itself. Do you know what the first trial entails?"

Yun Che rubbed his hands together, a thoughtful expression on his face. "I have a general idea, but I intend to take my time with this. The girls outside should be able to handle things, especially with Retsu there to lead them. Right now, there's something else I want to do before I officially begin the trial."

Jasmine regarded him with interest. "And what might that be?"

With a determined look, Yun Che reached into his inventory and pulled out four blue, glowing cubes. He carefully placed them on the ground of the arena, their ethereal light casting an otherworldly glow.

Jasmine's eyes widened with recognition. "Oh, you managed to gather enough for another one of those?"

Yun Che nodded. "I've been wanting to summon one ever since the sect masters were defeated, but I couldn't find the right moment. It seems that now, in this isolated temple, is the perfect opportunity."

Jasmine leaned in closer, her curiosity piqued. "So, what are you waiting for? Let's see what this trial has in store. I'm particularly interested in why the Phoenix, a being of the higher realms, is conducting a trial in the lower realms."

Yun Che couldn't help but chuckle at her enthusiasm. "All right, all right. Patience, Jasmine." He made sure all four cubes were properly placed on the ground before stepping back to stand beside her. The stage was set, and he was about to embark on a journey that would test not only his strength but also his determination and resolve.

------------------

[Ding…. Four wisdom cubes placed on the ground. Initiating the Ultra Rare summon.]

------------------

With mounting anxiety, Yun Che waited for the process to reach its conclusion. The four cubes floated into the air once more, gradually coalescing into a single form. However, Yun Che's eyes widened as the shape that was taking form started to shrink. It became smaller and smaller until it was much tinier than the typical size of a man or woman.

A sense of dread washed over Yun Che as he began to murmur, "No..."

Suddenly, the form sprouted two arms and two legs in quick succession, but these limbs were not fingers and toes. Instead, they consisted of small, triangular shapes. Another surprise came as a small tail emerged behind the figure. Finally, the head took shape, becoming larger and surrounded by a mane of triangular patterns. The figure was ultimately defined by its yellow body, white triangular fingers and toes, and a brown-maned head.

As the process concluded, the entire arena was bathed in a blinding light. When the brilliance dissipated, Yun Che was left staring in disbelief at what stood before him – a plushy lion doll, looking back at him as if mocking his misfortune.

---------------

[Ding…Congratulation host for summoning 'Kon']

"Yo, it's me, Kon-sama. Finally, we meet – (smack) araaa!!!!" Kon's introduction was rudely interrupted as Yun Che swiftly kicked him into oblivion.

"Give me back my fucking cubes!!!!" Yun Che shouted in frustration before collapsing onto all fours, utterly despondent. Those cubes represented his hard-earned rewards and leveling progress, and the fact that they had been used to summon a plushy lion was a bitter pill to swallow.

Jasmine shielded her eyes as she appeared in her gigai, her curiosity piqued by Yun Che's outburst. She looked around and didn't see any women nearby. So, she asked, "So where is she?"

Yun Che, still in the depths of despair, was huddled on the ground, hugging his legs. Through gritted teeth, he responded, "It's not a 'she,' it's a 'he,' and not even a proper one at that."

Jasmine frowned in confusion, but her thoughts were interrupted by Kon, who, dusting himself off, shouted indignantly, "Oi, bastard, you got a problem with me or something?! You hurt Kon-sama's sexy body." Suddenly, the summoned figure, named Kon, reappeared and confronted Yun Che.

However, upon closer inspection, it became clear that Kon was far from a real lion; instead, he resembled a doll, complete with cute sounds when he moved. Even as he ran toward Jasmine with what seemed to be affection, he was rudely interrupted.

Jasmine delivered a powerful punch to Kon's face, sending him crashing to the ground, causing the arena to crack beneath the impact. "That was for the inappropriate gaze," she muttered. Yun Che was too despondent over the summoning mishap to worry about Kon's state, but to their astonishment, the plushy emerged from the rubble as if nothing had happened.

"Ahh, I sensed a perverted gaze from him. I hope I didn't accidentally kill him," Jasmine said, reconnecting with the present situation.

To everyone's surprise, Kon rose from the ground as if nothing had happened, unfazed by the full-powered punch from Jasmine or the kick from Yun Che. Both of them were stunned by his resilience.

"What's the deal? Just wanted to be friends, and I get the boot - and the fist." Kon complained, seemingly unscathed. Yun Che snapped out of his depression, his eyes widening in amazement. Kon had survived both a full-powered strike from him and Jasmine. What kind of creature was he?

"What is this thing? Did it use all four of your cubes?" Jasmine asked, still baffled. She had noticed a peculiar sound when she pressed Kon's plushy head; after all, he was more of a stuffed animal than anything else.

It took a moment for Yun Che to regain his composure. Rising from his state of despair, he introduced Kon. "This is Kon. In our world, he was a modified soul created to support our gigai. However, he had a sad past during his creation. Since he was born anew in this world with a clean slate, you can call him a perverted lion."

Jasmine released Kon, and he stood before them once more. With a heavy sigh, Yun Che continued, "I am the one who summoned you just now. I am Yuuki"

"I am summoned to you? Hey, I'm Kon-sama! A lion with more than meets the eye!" Kon looked at him with curiosity, feeling relieved that a male companion had joined them.

"Sort of, but I prefer to be called Yun Che. I'll explain later. By the way, this 'onee-san' you just tried to assault is Jasmine. She's kind of my mentor," Yun Che explained while pointing to Jasmine, whose intimidating glare left Kon cowering.

"This thing doesn't look strong. Are you sure you summoned it right?" Jasmine questioned Yun Che's choice of companion, still uncertain about Kon's capabilities.

Yun Che shrugged and replied, "Don't know, he's more of a pervert than a powerhouse."

"Oi, bastard. Who are you calling a perverted lion? You should be honored to address the Great Kon-sama!" Kon retorted, his voice filled with wounded pride. Yun Che's comment earned a sweat drop from Jasmine.

A vein bulged on Yun Che's forehead as he exclaimed, "Lucky?!? This is the worst luck I've ever had. All I wanted was a big-bosomed, beautiful, and caring onee-san, and all I got is a perverted lion plushy." His statement left Jasmine with a bemused sweatdrop on her brow.

Yun Che and Kon exchanged heated words, escalating their bickering to the point of growling threats at each other. Jasmine, fed up with their senseless argument, decided to intervene with an abrupt smack to both of their heads.

"You're both idiots," she declared, her exasperation evident. Having to deal with one idiot was challenging enough, and now she had two.

"Sorry," Yun Che and Kon mumbled in unison, their squabble momentarily silenced.

Suddenly, Yun Che had an epiphany. His eyes widened, and he turned to Jasmine, a spark of realization in his gaze. "Wait a minute, Kon wasn't a formidable character back in our world. He was just a modified soul, not even classified as a common character."

Jasmine raised an eyebrow, her attention once again drawn to the plush lion. "So, you're implying…"

"You moron! Do you despise me that much?" Kon protested, throwing a mock punch at Yun Che with his tiny arms, producing a soft, plushy sound upon impact. It wasn't painful at all, but the noise was oddly satisfying.

Yun Che regained his composure and continued, "No, you idiot! What I mean is, why did the system classify you as a Super Rare character? It doesn't make sense."

Jasmine nodded in agreement. "Exactly. It's baffling." She understood that Super Rare characters from Retsu's homeworld were typically powerful characters, regardless of their gender. To have a mere plushy designated as a Super Rare character was indeed a surprising twist.

As they pondered this mystery, Yun Che intended to check Kon's stats to learn more about his newfound companion. However, before he could access the system's stats, he noticed stored notifications that he hadn't seen before. Most of the notifications he received were merely congratulatory messages and were automatically discarded. But these seemed important, and they had likely arrived while he was preoccupied with his earlier bout of depression. Yun Che tapped on the notifications, revealing...

"Sure, I just lost four cubes for a Super Rare lion plushy. What harm could it do?" Yun Che remarked with a hint of amusement, earning another bout of bickering from Kon.

With a sense of curiosity mixed with anticipation, Yun Che selected "Yes." Immediately, the arena was engulfed in a blinding, radiant light. Kon, who had positioned himself behind Yun Che's leg, used it as a makeshift shield from the intense light. Jasmine shielded her eyes once more, and the trio braced themselves for the unknown.

As the light gradually subsided, Yun Che, Jasmine, and Kon were left in awe. In front of them, within a peculiar egg-shaped bubble, was a young girl in a fetal position. The bubble itself seemed to be a modern, energy-infused containment device, holding the girl aloft. She appeared to be in a deep slumber, her body much smaller than Retsu's when she first appeared. The girl's form was slender and youthful, and while her breasts were of moderate size, they were obscured by her hugging posture. Her long, ebony hair floated gracefully within the confines of the bubble. Her face held an innocent, youthful charm, with closed eyes, a petite nose, and soft, small lips. Even in her unconscious state, her appearance radiated an undeniable allure that no man could easily ignore.

Kon's nose turned crimson as he gawked at the girl within the bubble, clearly overcome with excitement. However, his enthusiasm was short-lived as he noticed Jasmine's disapproving glare. He quickly climbed onto Yun Che's shoulders, hoping for a better view.

Jasmine couldn't help but shake her head in disbelief. "I don't know whether I should be surprised anymore," she muttered as she examined the peculiar scene.

Yun Che, on the other hand, was rendered speechless. He recognized this girl; she was a gift from the system. However, the reason she was labelled a "gift" was that she appeared to be an artificial entity rather than a summon from the cubes. This raised more questions in his mind, particularly about Kon, who was also an artificial entity. If Kon was like this girl, why had he been summoned as a Super Rare? And what was Kon's true nature?

Before he could contemplate these mysteries further, the system presented him with another notification, further complicating the situation.
