little demon

Mortis once again stood in the center of the cemetery as he stepped into the spirit realm to enter the crypt. His scythe at the ready, he immediately felt an ominous feeling of unease. Nevertheless, he did not let it stop him from going further inside.

After a few meters, he discovered a staircase in front of the altar, which he slowly descended. Here he found a corridor where corpses in white robes lay on both sides. Mortis felt nothing from the dead, which reassured him in the narrow space.

When he arrived at a door, he simply looked into the room, as the door was not anchored. What he saw was a large room with a red magic circle in the center, in which sat a small, black something that had small horns and bat wings.

Mortis left the spirit realm, took a few steps back and carefully opened the door. The sight of the small black creature, which looked exactly like the one in the spirit realm, confirmed that it was a real demon.

How should he proceed, Mortis wondered? His solution was simple, but also cruel. He returned to the spirit realm, approached the little Imp from behind, swung wide, and with a powerful swing, slammed the big blade against its skull.

The Imp crashed into a couple of coffins. In rage, he jumped out of the rubble and asked, "Who's there? Who dares to just hit me?"

Mortis didn't want to talk, so he just walked up to the little demon, used his scythe and slashed its belly slightly.

The demon spread its wings and flew upward. "Human, how dare you? You can't kill me anyway. The god of death has been captured and subjugated by our evil gods. No demon will ever die again, and you humans will serve us in death."

"Is that really so? I don't believe this story. You can't even prove what you're telling me here," Mortis said, laughing at Imp.

"Of course I can prove it," the Imp roared in anger.

Mortis continued to laugh and said, "Then come down and prove it. Or are you so afraid to show me that I can't kill you? If I can't kill you, I'll become your servant. What do you think of that?"

"I'll kill you, and if it doesn't work, you'll kill me, and that's how I'll have to serve you," the Imp replied.

The Imp floated to the ground and stood proudly, spreading his arms and waiting for the blow. "Come boy, first I die, then you."

Mortis took his scythe and held it in front of the demon's chest. Then he swung the scythe back and activated "Scythe Swing." The scythe made its way through the skin to the Imp's heart. The latter smiled victoriously at Mortis, but Mortis smiled darkly back as the corpse slipped from the blade and crashed to the ground. The demon's soul was sucked in and landed in Mortis' sea of souls like all the other souls.

"Quest accomplished. Kill a rar. Reward: equipment pants skill +3. Would you like to put on the equipment right now?"

Mortis nodded, but nothing happened. Then he said, "Yes, I would like to put them on." His pants fell to the floor and he was suddenly wearing black pants that looked like suit pants. They were lined with leather on the inside."New quest: Kill an elite. New quest: kill demon 0/2. New quest: reach level 20."

The Imp's body dissolved and a box appeared in its place. Mortis rubbed his hands together and immediately opened it. Inside was a silver ring with a black stone in the setting. When he picked it up, the system said, "This ring is a storage ring. It has a space of 2 cubic meters and can store everything that is not alive."

Mortis was pleased and put the ring on right away. He didn't know exactly what he looked like now, but with the black pants and sleeves, the ring fit him perfectly. The other quest still showed no progress, so he looked around the room further and found that this was the basement where bodies were prepared for funerals. He found nothing that should be a seal, so he tried to destroy the magic circle, which worked. The dim red glow went out, but there was still no signal.

Then he saw it. As darkness fell, he noticed in the middle of the room a statue of a man wearing a robe and holding a candle. On his forehead was drawn a red magic circle.

Mortis took his scythe and cut the statue into a thousand pieces without thinking twice. The system asked him to put his hand on the pedestal and pray to the true death of one of the three great gods of the universe, where the statue had stood before.

Mortis placed his hand on the pedestal and closed his eyes. He prayed to the God of Death who watches over souls, asking him to cleanse this place and make it his own so that all could find their salvation and rest. It began to storm and thunder, and lightning struck the room before a new statue appeared on the pedestal.

The statue was a beautiful woman with wings and a scythe in her hand. She looked kind and proud, and Mortis couldn't help but fall in love with her. He shook himself and turned away to ease his guilty conscience.

Up in the crypt, Mortis noticed that everything had changed. All the images of Osmirnis, the god of death, had been replaced with images of the nameless goddess of death, and although it was dark, the room looked friendly and clean.

Mortis opened the crypt and was almost struck by the sight of some 300 spirits before him. But when he calmed down, all of them dissolved and the souls migrated to him, which his sea of souls received with joy.Although he didn't get any experience points, Mortis could at least use the souls for his store. He had collected a total of 640 souls and decided to buy a small charisma potion for 200 souls, knowing that pretty people always gain trust more easily.

After packing his things, Mortis spent the night in the crypt and found a spot between the window and the altar where he could attach his hammock. The next morning, the graveyard was clean and the dead plants had taken on new life.

The swords were still lying around and so were the armors, all of which Mortis happily collected and put into his ring.

Now he made his way back to the city of Bamberg and left the cemetery. As he did so, he was amazed at the beautiful sight that now presented itself to him. The dark forest had disappeared and everything was full of green and rich colors, as if this forest had been here forever and in the middle of life.

It made walking more enjoyable, while the birds sang and looked forward to the new feeding grounds.
