Repercussions - Part 1

3 days later...

Knock. Knock. Knock.

"Come in!" shouted Eveline without looking up from her desk as she continued to work.

Creak. Click.

"So, what do you want, Gabriella?" Eveline asked due to the fact her niece usually visits her around this time after hearing the door close with a thud.

However, after not hearing a response for a minute or so, she realized it was not her niece who visited her but someone else. Forcing her to finally place down the document she was reading and stop tying away on her holographic keyboard.

Which was floating slightly above her desk, connected to a floating monitor and an adjacent screen that was currently replaying the events that occurred during the competition.

"Oh, if it isn't... so to what do, I owe the pleasure as a man of your significance should not have the time to meet with little old me?" Eveline said with irritation as she finally got to see who had the nerve to enter her office and not introduce themselves.

Which turned out to be Adam, the one person she did not want to interact with who just stood there silently in a gray crewneck with blue jeans and vans as he inspected her office.

Completing ignoring Eveline's question and proceeded to grab a bottle of scotch from her cabinet as if he owned the place. Before sitting down and making himself at home.

"Now, this is nice... oh sorry about that where are my manners. Good morning, Eveline almost forgot you were here for a second. But anyhow, I'm here to receive my son's earners in his stead as he's still hospitalized in your family medical bay." Adam said with a light smile as he got straight to the point while pouring himself a nice glass of scotch.

"Thanks, but while your son won the competition, he hasn't yet defeated my niece as the bet, clearly stated he had to first defeat the other families' geniuses and then my niece to earn his prize." Eveline said as she furrowed her eyebrows, "But due to the assumption there might have been an outside interface... we can renegotiate the terms of the bet and allow Rin to receive his rewards if he's willing to marry Gabriella."

"Hmm, while that may sound wonderful, I can't make such a decision for my son, Eveline," Adam commented as he finished his glass of scotch and walked out of Eveline's office.

"Adam, wait!" Eveline abruptly shouted as she stood up, nearly breaking her desk in the process. Fortunately, it was sturdy enough to withstand her strength, after the hellish last few days she had trying to clean up the mess left behind by Rin, Wendell, and Jack.

"What now Eveline?" asked Adam as he stopped and turned around.

"Adam, be honest with me, has your son been acting strange lately? As even you should know that strange technique, he used 2 days ago is not part of your family's ancestral techniques?"

"… Just what are you trying to imply as I do not remember the Shinobi Clan having an in-depth understanding of my family's techniques? So, on what basis did you come to this conclusion?"

Adam asked calmly without allowing his emotions to cloud his judgment as stared deeply at Eveline, 'Hmm, just what are you trying to discover, Eveline as this is but the second time in 30 years. That I have ever seen you so concerned about something, since... Well, that was in the past but still just what are you uncover by planting such thoughts in my head,' Adam thought before he was interrupted by an insect that could not stay silent any longer.

"How dare a..." One of Eveline's shadow agents muttered as they stepped out of their hiding spot and zoomed towards Adam with a dagger in his hand.

"Silence! So, this is how you treat a guest now, Eveline? Luckily, I was heading out or else I would have stained your office floor with the blood of a lowly servant! However, the next time, one of your agents steps out of line, Hmph," Adam smirked as he glanced at the agent beneath his feet struggling to breathe like a fish out of water, and kicked him toward Eveline.

"Sorry for my lack of hospitality, however, this won't happen again," Eveline sighed as she glanced at one of her top agents and shook her head.

Before proceeding to snap her fingers causing two more agents to appear from the shadows and drag the agent, who was able to breathe again out of the office.

"B… B-But Miss Eveline, I did not do anything wrong?! Please do not do this... I promise to do better next time," The agent shouted desperately after regaining his bearings as snout and tears ran down his face.

While the two agents grabbed him by his hands and dragged him out. "Hey, hey just what are you guys doing?! I... I am speaking to..."

"David, you broke protocol, now get the fuck out of my face before I kill you myself," Eveline shouted as she pointed towards the door.

"But it was only out of my love for... No, my loyalty to you, Madam that I lost control of my emotions and snapped... You know, I would..."

"David, do not make me have to repeat myself! NOW GET OUT!" Eveline shouted through gritted teeth as she almost lost her cool.

"Hmmm..." Adam said as he watched how Eveline oversaw the situation before walking out and roaming the halls of the Shinobi Clan.

Click. Thud.

"Sorry again for the outburst and here is your son's earns," Eveline said after David left as she recollected herself and apologized for her earlier behavior. Yet, it was pointless as Adam had already left so she just placed Rin's earns in her multi-K.

Along with the rewards for the second and third-place winners Wendell and Jake, who have both not been seen ever since the end of the competition following Rin's tribulation.

Even though most of the audience believed Wendell should have won in the end as what Rin did was against the rules. Plus, at least Jake fought like a real man even though he got completely thrashed by our valiant and merciless Goddess, Wendell.
