From Friends to Enemies

"Hmm, what to do, what to do?" Rin wondered after leaving the cafeteria as he began walking toward his dorm, 'So the first day of school ends like this, huh? Talk about a bleak day; now I don't even know what to do… Wait, doesn't the school have a built-in training hall?'

Rin thought as he suddenly stopped and began making his back to the cafeteria, before turning left and walking a few meters forward. Until he reached a building that had a sign above it that read, Forbidden Blood's Training Hall for Demons.

A nine-story building that looked more like a clock tower than a training hall, yet that's only its outer appearance. Considering once you pass through those bronze doors you will quickly realize just how massive it is on the inside, since it has the interior space of an NFL field.

That was divided into four sections known as recovery, silence, gladiator, and progression, along with a hundred reserved rooms on each floor and a small separate dimension, which allowed students to fight against automated opponents.

"Yo, Rin what are you doing here?" Kyrie asked curiously the moment he saw Rin enter after waiting a while for a friend to arrive. Yet, by the looks of it, they are not coming any time soon.

"Not sure yet, but since I got nothing to do, I thought why not train a little to pass the time," Rin replied as he looked around before walking toward the front desk.

"Hmm, excuse me do you guys have any available rooms at the moment?" Rin asked the receptionist at the front desk politely.

"None that I'm aware of, but if you give me a second, I can ask someone if we do." The receptionist said as she called someone to confirm, "Hey Jimmy, do we have any available rooms on the ground floor at the moment?"

"Hmm, I believe just one why?" Jimmy asked.

"A freshman would like to use it for..."

"About an hour or more," Rin interjected.

"... an hour." The receptionist said after receiving an estimate.

"Sigh, there is one available, however, someone by the name of Kyrie reserved it, Alicia," Jimmy replied after glancing through the virtual logbook for the first division.

"Sorry to trouble you then Jimmy," Alicia said as she ended the call, "Sorry but it seems someone already reserved the last available room. However, if you are willing to wait awhile maybe you might get lucky."

"Sigh, I'm good… but thanks anyway for the help, Alicia," Rin said as he read her name tag, before turning around and walking towards the exit.

'Sigh, so much for trying to work out well, then I guess back to the dorm it is?' Rin thought before being suddenly stopped by Kyrie, who had a weird glow in his eyes, only seen in people trying to suppress something.

"Um, Rin... if you can defeat me in a spar, I might be able to help you out since I was technically the one to reserve the room," Kyrie said as he stood before him.

"Why not, at least it's better than meditating in a white room, plus, I am quite curious about how strong Kyrie Goldstein Jr. of Millennial's Scholar Society is. Considering there are rumors you were able to fight Jake Cerulean to a draw once."

Rin smiled as he glanced at Kyrie, after agreeing to partake in his little game, 'Sigh, love truly is a man's worst enemy.' Lamented Rin as if he could already see Kyrie's downfall.

"Oh, what a surprise, and here I thought you were just another arrogant young master, Rin. The otaku and mischief of the Okumura Clan, a man of few words and even fewer opponents." Kyrie replied as he inspected Rin from head to toe as if he were some precious artifact.

"Aww, a man of culture, I see now this is quite interesting, but I would've never thought a fellow such as yourself be a gigolo, truly the world is filled with wonders." Rin chuckled sarcastically.

"Likewise, however, I am not a gigolo or comrade of yours," Kyrie spat in disgust, "But it surely does break my heart that in this lifetime, we can't be friends." He sighed as he truly regretted making that bet with Rin a while back if he knew this was going to happen.

"Damn… and why that's?" Rin questioned with suspicion as he lost his usual nonchalant attitude and took this a bit more seriously.

"Just a change in alliance, nothing too personal," Kyrie replied with a smile.

"Sigh, so because of a girl you are willing to turn down a potential ally and earn yourself another enemy? Hmph truly this got to be a lie?!" Rin asked as this whole situation bewildered him since the moment Kyrie invited him to spar then somehow it became a fight of political sides.

"If it was up to me of course not, but fate deems your existence a threat to the cosmos. So, if it means I must kill you or anybody for that sake, then so be it. If it means the love of my life can be peaceful and blissful," Kyrie stated as he steeled his heart and accepted the task of killing the anomaly known as Rin.

"Whoa! So, you genuinely want to go through with this, huh?" Rin asked just to make sure as by the minute this seemed more like a hassle to him than a good ending to a splendid evening.

"Yes," Kyrie said firmly as he looked Rin straight in the eye.

"Sigh, well then how about a month from now at a location of your choice? We box things out at let us say around 6 p.m.," Rin said as he truly did not want to fight someone weaker than himself.

"Sure, fine by me, well then I guess... wait, aren't we still going to spar?" Kyrie had to ask as he saw Rin walking away.

"Naw, I'm good, pal. But don't let me stop you from having fun, Kyrie."

"Tsk and this is who people deem the Uncrowned King of the Freshmen Class," Kyrie muttered as he turned around and walked to his training room.

While Rin returned to their dorm room and went straight to sleep, unaware of what tomorrow had in store for them.
