Death? - Part 5: Departure

Earlier that day back in the Kurama Residence…

Creak.

'Please tell me this is a lie,' Thought Maze after opening Rin's room door and peeking inside to see nothing but a vacant room, 'Um, Master Rin isn't in his room?'

"W… W-What do you mean… Tsk, just why must anomalies be such headaches to watch!" Maze's Master shouted after leaving Maze's Soul Palace to make sure what she most feared was not about to come true.

'Relax, Luna, and calm down as right now is not the time to be losing your marbles, so take a deep breath and analyze the situation objectively. Before jumping to conclusions,' Luna, Maze's Master told herself, "Hmm, so considering you're not here just where could you be, Rin Jasper Kurama?"

"What is it, Master? Did you discover something? Did something happen to Rin while I was recovering from the aftereffects of Heaven's Power?" Maze asked worriedly as she began to panic.

"No, but he sure does know how to cause people problems in his absence," mumbled Luna as moved from behind her disciple and stood in front of her, "Sigh, well then let's hope this works."

She said with hope as she closed her eyes and gently began tapping the air, causing the space in front of them to ripple like the waves of a pond after a stone begins thrown in.

Simultaneously as this was going on Luna began to softly whisper something in French as she urged the energy within their surroundings to gather at her translucent fingertips, "De cendres en cendres! Des rêves aux stars! J'invoque le Mist Walker et le Roi des Rêves Morpheus!"

After, making sure she had harnessed enough energy, Luna began to use her fingers as a paintbrush as she drew one magic circle after another without pause.

Whoosh. Ripple.

A couple of minutes later just as she was about to draw the last magic circle and take out her offering to complete the incantation. The magic circle she was drawing unexpectedly shattered causing her concentration to waver as the energy she gathered at her fingertips dispersed and the rest of the circles collapsed like dominoes.

However, she did not let that stop her as just when she was about to repeat the entire process, something or someone whispered in her ear, "I wouldn't do that if I were you… Luna Cornell… for your little friend is all right… so please do not disturb my slumber again... for such nonsense!" Morpheus snorted before returning to his slumber as he had more pressing matters to worry about than this.

"My apologies, sir Morpheus and 15th King of Dreams, I hope you'll accept this humble one's apology and I assure you it won't happen again," Luna said as she bowed and snapped her fingers clearing Rin's room of the broken magic circuits that floated around aimlessly.

"Hmph, on account of our ancestral ties, I'll forgive you for the transgressions and endangerment of my kingdom, Luna Cornell," Morpheus whispered with a yawn, "But if you dare bother me again with such bothersome and pointless request. Hmph, you will be even lucky to have a soul still.

He said before canceling the link formed by Luna and ending the conversation, allowing her to stabilize her soul and stop it from turning into mist once again.

'Sigh… fortunately, that damn brat is still alive, or else this would have all been in vain. Surely, he couldn't be the Child of Misfortune of this era?' She thought after her brief encounter with Morpheus, the little brother of Sofia and Dime.

"Master is everything alright?!" Maze asked as she saw her master's soul almost dissipate.

"..." Luna, 'Does everything look fucking~'

"Sorry… so, did you by any chance discover where Rin could have run off to?" asked Maze after being glared at by her master and giving her some time to simmer down.

"No... but he is still alive, so I guess that's at least reassuring," replied Luna as she shook her head and proceeded to return to Maze's Soul Palace.

"For real! Then surely, he will have a-" Maze exclaimed before sensing a shift in her Master's aura as the air around them began to burn.

"Maze, get behind me and stay quiet," Luna ordered sternly with no room for negotiations as her once crystal blue eyes began to grow colder by the second.

As her eyes glanced past the walls of Rin's room and the sky-high walls of the Kurama compound and focused on a figure in the distance. Who could be seen calmly walking toward them as his footprints scorched the earth, due to the unimaginable heat, anger, and madness buried within their heart.

That seemed to have been provoked after sensing a familiar yet vague energy signature from the distant past, a past that spoke of two lovebirds whose love for each other transcended space and time. However, nothing is bound to last forever and with time it combusted into flames and became ashes after someone broke their oath and chose to fight for the crown.

A crown tainted by demonic origins and the flames of an Ancient Demon known as an Ifrit, warmongers who thrived in war and blood. Yet, that was in the past, a period buried beneath the ashes of the Sun and a waning Moon.

"Well, well isn't this interesting... so, the Great Luna Cornell did not die after all huh? Hmm, I wonder if the council knows she is still alive… but then again, would it even matter as in the end? Forget it… but it would be such a waste to just…" Ghali mumbled with a frown as he examined the astral form of the once-great Princess of Vose and grand disciple of the Dark Banshee's Ancestor.

Ding!

"So, what could so get for you?" The manager of the pub asked lazily with a bit of tiredness in his voice after hearing someone step into his cozy establishment as he stood behind the counter lazily.

"..." Silver, 'Sigh, some things truly just don't change no matter the timeline or era.'

"I see… well then make yourself at home as you are probably the last guest, we will be receiving for the night anyway," The manager said as he picked up a bottle and took out two goblets from the bottom cabinet before walking from behind the counter and approaching Silver's booth.

"…" Silver.

"Oh, and you might want to change your fit," The manager said after stopping, upon remembering something important, "As foreigners aren't welcomed in these parts of the kingdom."

"Well, um that was unexpected..." Rin uttered after undergoing only three strikes of his Tribulation before everything just stopped and returned to how it was before he even made the bold claim.

"You can say that again… welp, this was pointless so how about we return home and enter closed-door mediation until school begins?" Pharoah suggested as it made no sense to stay here any longer when Rin was strong enough to hold his own weight now.

"Well, if it beats having to stay here for another month then so be it," Rin chuckled before noticing some old lady gazing at him, 'Hey, were those two always here?'

'No but they did arrive a while ago just as your Heavenly Tribulation ended, why do you fancy that princess, kid?' Pharoah asked curiously as she was decent in his books to be a concubine.

'Not in a million years, however, I just thought it was weird as I did not notice them until now. But anywho we had better leave as this place will soon probably be flooded with nuisances.'

'You can say that again, kid.'
