The crisp morning air nipped at Nate's face as he made his way out of the dorm building, heading toward the main campus. Just as he was about to step through the door, a soft voice stopped him in his tracks.
"Um... Hello."
Turning, Nate saw a relatively pretty girl with bronze hair and dull blue eyes, her face flushed with color as she looked at him.
"Hello there," he greeted back with a smile.
Her face seemed to turn three shades brighter. "Um... yes... ahh... m-my na-name is Beth," she stammered out, her voice low and shy.
"It's very nice to meet you, Beth. I'm Nate," he responded, beginning to worry the girl might pass out.
She started fiddling with the hem of her shirt as she thought of what to say next. "I've admired you for a while and was wondering if we could get to know each other better," she whispered so softly that Nate almost didn't catch what she was saying.
