Chapter 5: Giant's Bane Pt I

James sat outside the fogged area in his full knight armor with no helmet on. The red cape flowing gently with the wind. He was looking over the scroll he found in his inventory after he logged back into the game.

The scroll was a map that showed golden circles in Olympus, Asgard, and Aaru around Yoruba. The fog that should have covered Camelot was not on the map. James looked back and saw the thick fog was still there and yet on the map Camelot, was clear as day.

James took a deep sigh pondering on whether or not he should activate the portal to open up the borders of Camelot. He knew the negatives and positives of unlocking the area.

On one hand it will allow people to complete hidden quest, growing ever more powerful. On the other hand people could try to claim territory and hoard the resources for themselves.

James cursed under his breath then stood up as Gabriel came riding up to him upon a large black bear the size of a grizzly.

'When did you get that?,' James asked Gabriel as he dismounted from the bear. Gabriel was taller in-game standing seven-foot five and dressed as a viking. All black with armored fur boots, leather bracers that had a metal carving of Mjölnir on the top and bottom of his bracers. The torso armor had two engraved wolf heads in the shape of Skol and Hati, the children of Fenrir chasing the sun and moon respectively.

'Came with the territory', said Gabriel walking up to the fog.

'So how do I get access to Camelot?,' asked Gabriel.

James stood up and whispered 'Kilgharrah.'

A giant flame wall split the fog open as the Kilgharrah, still in his humanoid form appeared from within. He walked passed a shocked Gabriel and bowed his head to James.

'You called for me, my King?' The dragon said with respect.

'I need you to give my friend access to Camelot,' said James.

Kilgharrah nodded then walked over towards Gabriel.

'Hold out right your hand King of Asgard', instructed the dragon.

A nervous Gabriel did as the dragon said and floating symbol of a dragons eye appeared on the and backside of Gabriel's hand.

'It is done. You may now freely leave and enter Camelot as you so please', Kilgharrah said to Gabriel.

'Thanks', Gabriel managed to say looking up at the dragon.

Kilgharrah grunted in response then sniffed the air.

'It seems there is stray cat snooping around my King. Shall I eliminate the threat?,' Kilgharrah asked James.

'No. If they don't attack us, it'll be fine', sad James.

Kilgharrah nodded his head while spreading his wings and shot off like a missile into the sky.

'So you just forgot to tell me you have dragon you can just fuckin summon whenever you want!?', Gabriel yelled.

'Didn't think is was important,' James laughed, 'What did you get to guard Asgard?'

'A pack of wolves a hundred deep the size of tigers.'

'Aww that nots fair! I want wolves', James complained.

Gabriel rolled his eyes.

'James.'

'Yeah?'

'I hate you.'

'Mmmm no ya don't', said James and walked into the fog with Gabriel following behind.

...

Sekhmet sat upon the upper part of a large evergreen tree watching James and Gabriel walk into the fog that kept Camelot covered. With only using her legs she flipped upside then free fell, landing on her hands on the ground below. Like a gracfuel gymnast she twisted around on her hands then did a handspring standing up, while brushing back her thick braids embedded with diamonds.

'I give it an eight out of ten', said Kilgharrah, taking a bite out the rabbit he had just hunted down moments before confronting the war goddess.

'What do you want dragon?', the War Goddess asked.

'What are doing here in Yoruba? I thought the gods were forbidden from entering this realm?'

'I have been asked to watch over the mortal as he progresses within the game.'

Sekhmet snapped her fingers and ruby dome formed around her and Kilgharrah.

'There. No we can talk freely,' said Sekhmet.

Kilgharrah sat down with his legs crossed as a floating chessboard formed between him and Sekhmet.

The Lioness sat down across from him, then moved her pawn two spaces.

'James has Oshe,' Kilgharrah stated.

'Really,' Sekhmet didn't sound surprised.

Kilgharrah moved his knight.

'You don't seem surprised about that. I am sure there was an uproar in the Great Hall after news of Arthur's death.'

Sekhmet moved another pawn one space up. Her silence gave Kilgharrah his answer.

'Yes it was quite the problem. Some of the other gods believed he cheated,' Sekhmet moved another pawn.

'What are you implying?,' said Kilgharrah.

Sekhmet lit her joint then exhaled nebula like smoke before passing it to Kilgharrah.

'I am implying that someone helped him out. Is it not strange that James brought his friend to Camelot? The very friend who happens to be the ruler of Asgard?'

Kilgharrah exhaled pure black smoke before handing the papyrus rolled leaf back to its owner.

'Indeed that explains why Mjölnir is here,' Kilgharrah admitted.

Sekhmet started coughing as she inhaled.

'Judging by your reaction I'm guessing Fenrir did not tell you', Kilgharrah chuckled.

The ruby dome began to crack and splinter as small particles floated down.

'Fenrir and I are no longer together', implied Sekhmet.

'Yes, he has moved on to another war goddess. Athena was it? I never understood his fascination with war gods. All your kind are nothing but destruction and death. With no capacity for love.'

Kilgharrah put Sekhmet in checkmate.

Sekhmet took a deep inhale of her joint, and exhaled slowly.

'Some us of have changed Kilgharrah. I can assure that I will bring no harm to James,' Sekhmet assured putting Kilgharrah in checkmate.

'And call me "Sekami" while I'm on earth please. Don't want anyone else knowing I'm here.'

Sekhmet stood up, then vanished within the shadows as the ruby dome slowly fell apart into glas ruby particles.

'Queens Gambit', said Kilgharrah with a half smile.

...

James and Gabriel had emerged from on the other side of the fog into the ruins of Camelot. The battle between her new king and the dragon laid visible in the surrounding area.

Gabriel was inspecting the ax James showed him. He turned over twice before handing it back to James.

'Honestly I don't know James. Never seen anything like it,' Gabriel admitted while admiring the damage done to Camelot.

'Shit man! You did number to your castle.'

James released his hand and his ax vanished into then air. He walked beside Gabriel then pulled out the map from his inventory then pointed at a blue light that glowed on the backside of Camelot.

'This where we have to go. Called the Artic Mountains,' said James handing Gabriel the map.

'You know how to fast travel?', Gabriel asked.

'Fast travel?'

'Yeah. Anyone who is technically a ruler can do it within their kingdom.'

Gabriel tilted his head inspecting the other glowing dots on the map.

'What are these other dots on the map?'

James shrugged his shoulders and let Gabriel store the map in his inventory while carefully walking around a large crystal circle in the shape of a dragon.

'Could be other weapons, enemies, or armor. All I know is that thr light blue dot was the on that stood out even before you arrived', said James.

'Alright. How do I fast travel?', James asked.

Gabriel sat down a large cinde block that surprising didn't crumble under his massive weight.

'Just think if the place you wish and portal should open up within that area.'

James took a deep breath. A cold wind blew in from behind him. He turned around then stuck his arm inside feeling the temperature.

'Ready?', James asked Gabriel.

Gabriel equipped a white bear fur cloak that hanged down to the back of his knees.

'Let's do it.'
