The voice of the host, Uno, was heard once again.
His figure could be seen from the screens that were projected all over the ship. He was a medium-sized man in a formal suit and a white coat on top of it. He looked like a modern researcher who became a host for an event because nobody was available other than him.
"Our previous game was extremely successful, even beyond our expectation to decrease the number of participants. Because of that, since there are only about one hundred participants left, we have decided to push forward the game that we have prepared before." Uno spoke with an energizing and friendly voice.
"It's called "Tunnel Escape". Once you enter the stage, you will be placed randomly with your teammates in one of the four spots in the middle of a fish tank."
"What you have to do is simple, you have to escape from the fish tank in an hour before the fish tank is filled with water that will drown anyone inside."
"There are dozens of escape tunnels from the fish tank, but most of them are dead end so you have to find the correct ones under a limited time and life-threatening threat. Of course, we aren't in any way forcing you to join this game."
"If you are afraid or don't want to risk your life, you may forfeit from the Workshop battle and still could enjoy the free treatments here until the event ends." He spoke with a reassuring voice.
This game was much harder than the previous one which only made them run for some kilometers with some obstacles. The participants were halved not because it was hard so to speak, but the stronger regulars hunted down the weaker to decrease their competitors in the next stage.
However, this time, it was legitimately hard and dangerous. To find the few correct tunnels from dozens of the dead-end ones in a dark fish tank with death awaiting them in an hour?
This was insane!
Moreover, they were four starting places which meant that they couldn't really all team up together to find the correct ones since strength and power didn't mean much in this situation. However, since they could forfeit from the battle, they were reassured somewhat.
Seeing the various expression that the remaining regulars showed, Uno smiled knowingly. "I know, the difficulty is really high. However, in return, we have prepared two special items to compensate for the difficulty of the game."
When the regulars heard this, their eyes immediately glinted as greed made them reconsider their choices.
"The first one is "Gray Stingray", an incredible observer that will help any scout immensely in the darkness."
"Different from most of the observers which use lights to help unravel the dark parts in the tower, Gray Stingray uses smell, touch, and shinsu receptors to scan the area, making it completely invisible in dark areas." He spoke fluidly as he described the observer, making the regulars interested in the device.
Uno stopped for a moment and continued with a dramatic tone. "However, that's not all what it can do, it's also a powerful tool that will massively aid you in the battle because Gray Stingray doesn't pale in comparison to the observers used in the ancient war. It's modeled after the ancient observers after all."
Once, he said about the observer was equal to the ones used in the ancient wars, the regulars instantly cheered as the scouts' desire to earn this item was lit aflame. It was somewhat equal to an ancient observer, those were truly the rare deal in the current era!
In the ancient war, battles happened all the time so the scouts at the time were also forced to be prepared to fight at any time, even replacing the fishermen as the front liner.
Therefore, their observers were enhanced to gear them and aid them to fight head-on battles that could happen at any given moment in that period. And something like an ancient observer was way stronger than the usual ones.
Uno smiled as he saw their greed apparent inside their eyes. "Now, let's move on to the second item. It's called "Red Shark", a red-colored needle that could pierce giant turtles' shells like a hot iron pierces through a plastic."
"Furthermore when you ignite it…"
He smirked. "You can see it on your own as long as you get the item, but I can guarantee you on my money that it will be worth your time and the risks and you won't be disappointed."
To be able to pierce giant turtles' most incredible defense was no small feat.
They were a type of Shinheuh that sported the best defense in the entirety of the tower. Usually, they only appeared on the 75th floor or above. Which implied that only B-ranked regulars or higher were able to fight toe to toe against them.
As a weapon given to the E-ranked regulars, this was way beyond impressive!
However, it wasn't something that made them really excited. It was the fact that Red Shark was an ignition weapon that could do that before it was even ignited!
What were ignition weapons?
They were rare armaments in the tower. Most of the time, only the members of the ten great families could dream of possessing one. Even then, it wasn't the regular members among them, it was for those important members from each family of the ten great families.
To give away such a rare and lethal weapon, the Workshop's reputation was indeed well deserved!
If they could get their hands on even just one of them… it would make climbing the tower much easier and far less risky.
"However dear regulars, there are certain conditions you have to fulfill to get them." Said Uno calmly.
His words dampened the regulars' enthusiasm a little bit, but it soon recovered. There was only a single item for each of them so a fair competition was definitely needed.
"To get the Gray Stingray, you have to be the first one to get out of the fish tank. If any member of your team manages to escape first, your team will get it. And to get the Red Shark… this is much simpler." A smirk surfaced on his face.
"You have to kill the other regulars and become the one with the most kill count in this game. Easy and simple, isn't it?" Uno's grin turned to look malignant to the regulars as they felt a cold feeling on their backs and their hairs standing up.
"To those that don't get the items, don't worry, we are generous enough to give you a big amount of points as long as you manage to escape, fair enough right?" His grin had vanished and was replaced with a reassuring smile.
"Now… let's begin the game!!"
