Chapter 27: I'll eat you...

Upon stepping outside of the Changfeng Merchant gates, Gu Lin Fang glared around before taking a deep breath and smirking.

Because he had his back to Yu Xing and Gu Lin Ju, they frowned. Gu Lin Ju was still in Yu Xing's arms as she struggled to say, "Father, I'm fine..."

This snapped Gu Lin Fang out of his thoughts as he looked at her with a smile, "I know, I'm just disappointed about losing those perfectly good guards...

Now who's going to drive the carriage, good thing you didn't bring your maid".

Gu Yu Xing sighs in relief and said,"Lord father, I am in awe of your prowess, even I was almost worried you forgot the plan...but"

He paused as he followed after Gu Lin Fang, the latter was walking towards the carriage as he eyed a beggar in the street.

The beggar sat there motionless with his face covered but Gu Lin Fang knew who he was.

'isn't that the corpse puppet?' Gu Lin Fang smiled casually while looking at the storyteller's shop opposite the Changfeng Merchant gates.

Upstairs sat Li Cheng sipping tea, he bowed his head slightly at Gu Lin Fang with a solemn expression.

"But aren't you worried about exposing your demonic cultivation?"

Gu Lin Fang laughed at this question and replied, "the fact that I showed such strength and being a demon cultivator would make them wary, cautious as well.

They'd consider a lot before making a move against me.

He looked at the long line of notifications and couldn't help smiling.

"Uncle Ji Hung!" Gu Lin Ju suddenly calls out with Joy.

Gu ji Hung looked very happy, he lifted his head up and laughed loudly as he hugged Lin ju, "Hahaha it's really you!"

Seeing this, Gu Lin Fang's brain began thinking on overdrive before saying, "Brother Ji Hung, I'm glad you got my message but it would be best if we left this place for now".

Everyone settled down at his words.

"Greetings, Uncle Lin Fang" the teenage girl says along with the boy but Gu Lin Fang responded with a nod while looking at the direction of the auction house.

"Let's go"

they turned around and headed towards the carriage.

He looked at Li Cheng seated at the window upstairs and found that he had his eyes closed.

So they boarded the carriage while the others were given horses without a word.

This left Gu Lin Fang, Gu Lin Ju and Gu Ji Hung alone inside.

Ju'er began chatting happily like she was a different person, Gu Ji Hung indulged the girl but kept on glancing at Gu Lin Fang.

Gu Lin Fang on the other hand, was looking outside the carriage window. He noticed the Yanmen officers rushing in the direction they were just coming from.

Most moved on their feet while the others rode horses, at the very end of the group was a bearded man with a feather on his Yanmen hat, his black attire was much more classy than the others, obviously he's of a higher rank.

The Officer looked at the Group as he passed and subconsciously nodded his head.

For a moment he noticed Gu Lin Fang's eyes flash bright red as he looked at him with a smile.

A soft "I'll Eat you" came with the wind from the distant carriage making him shudder as he stopped his horse to look behind him.

Meanwhile at the storyteller's shop, the actors were performing an act on a battle between the Eight disciples of Lord Cao shi Leng and Sima Yan.

The place abuzz with merry, unaware of the disaster that had befallen those at the auction opposite their location.

Upstairs, Gu Li Cheng had paid for a VIP spot by the window facing the Changfeng Merchant gates.

Earlier he had seen his Uncle Ji Hung who was the head of the Martial Hall back home but he became restless when he saw the teenage girl behind him.

"Li Mei..." After so long, he finally felt relieved. A look a determination appeared on his face as he thought, 'I must complete this task for Uncle, that way he'll be willing to help me get stronger.

This time, This time... I'll protect you!'.

He once again closed his eyes and then his vision changed. Now he was seated on the dusty streets like a beggar, he confirmed his senses through the corpse puppet.

'I don't know how uncle did it but this is amazing'

While He was thinking, The Yanmen officers arrived as they scared away the other beggars.

Li Cheng controlled the puppet to  follow behind them while watching the officers get to work.

"Find out who those people were" The captain ordered one of his men.

"Yes!"

Li Cheng frowned at the man's words, 'First level of the Auroras Core realm?.

I can take him with this puppet but Uncle didn't order such...

He controlled the puppet to wait not too far from the carriage with a mountain symbol with 'Kong' on it.

People who attempted to leave were held back, a furious group of people shouted and pushed aside the officers while running out with a corpse.

A crowd began to gather and observe what was going on. More corpses were brought out to the open while some tried to take away their wounded superiors.

Li Cheng began to wonder what exactly happened inside.

Soon a group of eight was headed in puppet's location, they were all dressed in brown robes and looked very intimidating due to their huge body figures.

Obviously the Kong clan were mostly proficient in external cultivation.

At the center of the group, a teenager dressed in a darkish yellow Han Fu robe, it was really expensive looking.

One of the brown robed youths said quickly, "young Master, we need to leave this place immediately".

The nervous Li Cheng was surprised at this revelation, he gritted his teeth as he finally confirmed that the Kong's had connection with those two.

This was something Gu Lin Fang told him to do in a group fight. He tossed the sand at the group as they hissed while yelling,

They were so engrossed in their discussion and did not notice the approaching beggar.

No it should be said that their brain would always automatically ignore a beggar in the background.

Li Cheng worked fast as Gu Lin Fang's warnings kept on ringing in his ears, he really can't make any mistakes.

He controlled the puppet, diving straight into the Kong family's warriors with a dagger in hand, by this time the Yanmen officers were alerted to the situation here .

Charging straight for the young Master, he stabbed his thighs while tackling him to the ground.

Then he began stabbing repeatedly as blood splashed everywhere, there was no Qi involved in this battle as everything happened fast.

He slit the screaming boys throat without mercy. At this time the others recovered...

"Young Master!!!"

"Agh!!!"

In a coughing fit, one of the guards waved his fist and a powerful force pushed away the dust and the puppet.

It fell miserably in the gap between the seven guards and the pursuing Yanmen officers.

"Halt you bloody vagrant!!"The captain yells from afar, the remaining officers quickly formed a circle around them.

"Young Master!!" The leading guard checked and found that the teenager was dead.

"Aaagh!!! Avenge the young Master!!" He roared as he charged at the puppet, completely ignoring the Yanmen officers.

"Stop them, that man is important for our investigation!!" The captain roared, unsheathing his saber.

The officers went into action, Li Cheng wasn't going to sit still either. He took on the approaching guard without remorse as he felt he didn't want to kill officers.

"Falling Mountain!!" The guard's arm was soon wrapped in a thick earth Qi as he swung it straight at the puppet's face.

Li Cheng dodged to the left as he slashed across the man's stomach, unfortunately there was no damage. Behind him, a minor earthquake occured, leaving behind a web-like crack.

Without pause, Li Cheng kept on weaving his way through the warriors.

Unfortunately he hasn't understood just how to channel the Qi within the puppet's core, that was why Gu Lin Fang suggested sneak attacks.

The Yanmen officers were drawn into battle as they tried to stop the guards, on the other hand, the guards had to kill their enemy so they can give their lord an explanation. The chaos escalated when those told to wait behind, used the chance to run away.

An exquisite looking carriage that was painted black, sped out of the Chang's property while escorted by an armored calvary.

As they passed by, Li Cheng controlled the puppet to run in their direction immediately.

By exerting more force, he managed to make it jump higher than usual, it's hoodie fell backwards.

"What?!" The carriage's driver opened his eyes wide in surprise at the unexpected 'attacker', only for his eyes to lock with hollow ones.

"Impudent!!" The calvary leader used his qi to push the puppet away. This was Gu Li Cheng's wish all along as the direction, he was thrown to was the storyteller's shop.

Without a word, he charged into the store as everyone scurried away. Li Cheng opened his eyes and ran downstairs, he took the puppet into his storage ring without a word and followed the crowd.

The Yanmen officers and the guards ran in the direction they believed the 'beggar' ran to.

Meanwhile, the black carriage was still packed at the spot and the calvary leader approached it's window.

"Young Master Wei, I suspect that was..." Unsure of what he saw, he paused.

"Corpse puppet?" A voice that made it hard to differentiate between a man's or woman's voice came from the carriage.

"Yes Young lord" the calvary leader's voice was solemn, matching his facial expression.

A feminine looking hand lifted the curtain, exposing the masked face.

"Iron Crow City seems really interesting don't you think uncle Jiang?.

I'm feeling rather sad that we have to go to Evil men's valley (Cruel Canyon). Say Uncle Jiang, what if Divine doctor Li isn't there anymore?" an alluring voice suddenly came from behind the mask.

(The calvary leader) Jiang Yu lan suddenly let out an awkward cough, "kuhum... young miss, you really shouldn't say such things.

Right now, your standing in for the Young Master. We really can't make mistakes, especially now that the situation at the Dragon pass is getting more and more chaotic".

"Fine" the Masked lady groans loudly, before looking at the storyteller's shop.

She then closed the curtain, "let's go".

Jiang Yu lan sighs in relief and looked at the storyteller's shop as well, "yes Young Master!".

Honestly he was happy to be leaving this place, especially with what happened at the auction.

'We really can't afford any mistakes with the young miss' Jiang Yu lan thought to himself as he remembered those blood red eyes,
