"If you don't have anything to say…..." Jay didn't get up or look at him," ...…then you should know that I've allergy from stare".
Arthur covered hips lips in.
Jay has never talked like this before. Somehow the incident made her grow up more at one shot. She has matured way more overnight.
She was lying on the bed, her arm under her head resting and an unblinking stare at the ceiling with no motion or movement. Pretty normal compared to the other things ...…other things! Things like this, creeps Arthur sometime.
But he didn't back off on her words.
"Let's have a talk Jay", he offered politely.
"I've nothing to say", came the quick cold reply.
Arthur sighed and inhaled a relaxing breath. Giving up wasn't a choice in her case. Leniency won't work too. She doesn't seem to react to anything. Only if she would show some emotion, he could have the slightest idea of her mental state. She doesn't even have any attachment to anyone. Not even the generous Chris!
"No Jay", Arthur said firmly, resorting to raising his voice," I need to talk!".
The argument heated up rapidly over the short while. Jay didn't break a single word no matter how much Arthur pleaded, nonchalantly. She was getting irritated due to the lights in the room, turned on seldom or never. She is used to the darkness and since Arthur had them on when he entered, it hurt her eyes. She was lying with her arm covering her eyes, but suddenly got up and faced Arthur with stony eyes.
"I said .... I've nothing to say", her voice warned that she wants no conversation on this.
"What makes you talk in such a way??", Arthur gave out on her rage," Just tell us if something is bothering you. We can help Jay. I can do anything to bring you back the way you were before".
"I wasn't much different before either", Jay murmured.
"Why don't you ever smile???", Arthur was desperate," Whatever you just did, can you make me believe that it's pretty normal for a girl not undergoing things? Just talk about it ...…. I'm begging you!".
Jay looked down from Arthur. To be true, her straight gazes without any expression, were piercing and giving him the chills down his spine.
Jay sighed. Finally, she might talk......
"I'm sorry Arthur", but her words were emotionless to the ears," I know you guys want me to be the proper sister of the likes of my age, but nothing can bring me to be the ideal sister or daughter to our parents even if I try".
She had no idea from where her words were coming from, being bleak and blank. But this is the most she has ever spoken about herself ever. Each word was being keenly listened by Arthur, only if he can make something out of it!
She continued," There's no trauma to this as you think. Few people are born such way ....to live in such a manner. We have no choice because we have no reason for this existence. Just know this, I won't die yet!".
Jay was speaking with no mind. Something else was diverting her to say whatever she did. She spoke as if she wanted Arthur to get nothing and leave quickly, giving up. Indeed, he was truly blank! A girl, not even in her twenties yet, speaking things which made her seem like she has experienced the whole world before time ......was making him angry!
"......…No reason, no source and no cure for us. Even no goal. Unless we find a purpose!".
Suddenly Arthur stood up and grabbed Jay by the shoulder and shook her in immense fury. His eyes were teary. He was becoming hopeless due to lack of open ways.
"Come back to your senses Jay!!!", he screamed," Return to what you were!", he prayed for her to resist or cry.
But Jay was completely lifeless and intact. She didn't show signs of uncomfort or pain. She didn't even blink. Her gaze was down and motionless.
Losing his last inch of calm, Arthur just pulled a hard slap right across her cheek without holding back.
Come on, Please Jay!
Show any emotion!
Get angry ...….!
Cry.......!
Fight back ...…...!
Jay's face fell beside harshly. Her ear and cheek turned cherry red. The slap was rough, it was bound to hurt. Arthur didn't receive his wish. He had no idea about the dire consequences of his action. He didn't even take any word of her in to consideration, whereas everything she said was utterly true. For him, no one of her age is suppose to undergo such nonsense. If they did, it's a complete pretense. Same for Jay, she's just hiding the real problem. He doesn't know, sometime practicality and reality are not even words in people's lives.
Not a single word, no tear, no word, not even an exclamation of pain!
As dry as the Autumn.
Pulling her face back and not meeting Arthur's face, Jay just left the room.
Arthur was left with no positive outcome with his efforts. He fell on the floor and hid his face in his hands and knees in frustration. Why is this happening!!!
He has basically no idea what he has done!
Only Jay has to face the aftermath all by herself now!!!
