Giving a rumble of a deep chuckle, Yun Meiyi didn't plan to hold any politeness or respect anymore. The words of the lady were enough to break the last straw of patience she had been holding onto. She couldn't believe her ears. She had known that the woman has always hated her. From the day she appeared in the house until today.

But she never expected that in her hatred she would go this shameless. Was she even listening to her own words? What was she even saying?

Yun Jiaqi trembled at her thunderous laughter. It scared her enough to stiffen her core. She scooted to shift behind her mother while her eyes stared at Yun Meiyi with some dread.

"Am I the shameless one? Aunt Lin, are you really sure of that?" Yun Meiyi suddenly asked, pausing her chuckle to stare at the woman who never showed even a bit of warmth towards her. It was still understandable that she never took her as her daughter. But seeing her as any other human being, was it also tough?

Yun Meiyi's lips curled up in a disdainful curve as she saw how astounded the lady looked at her words. "Aunt Lin, I don't know how your logic or sense actually works? But let me clear this out for you. It was your dearest daughter, Yun Jiaqi, who went do shameful deeds with the man that was already engaged to some other girl. And in normal conditions, that's actually what people call bringing disgrace to the family and dignity. Not what I did."

"Meiyi, how dare you? You are calling my daughter a disgrace. Aren't you being too audacious today?" To Lin Su Yi, Yun Jiaqi has always been the weakest part. She would never stand and see anyone talking ill about her morals or character. After all, daughters were told to have the light of their mother in them. If they tend to spread darkness instead of brightness, then the mother has to be blamed.

However, Lin Su Yi's fierce words had no effect on Yun Meiyi. She smiled softly while shaking her head. Her expression looked all gentle for a moment but the next moment, it turned sharp all of a sudden, flashing with a dark glint that put the woman in speechlessness.

"If what I am doing is called audacious in your eyes, Aunt Lin; I would love to know what you would actually call the deeds of your daughter that she had planned against me for years. That must be defined with a greater term." She said and Lin Su Yi's brows tugged in confusion.

But before she could ask anything, behind Lin Su Yi, Yun Jiaqi yawped with a shiver of fear in her tone, "Enough, Meiyi. Don't chatter around uselessly."

Lin Su Yi turned to look at her daughter and she found it hard to believe that actually, the girl she nurtured according to the etiquette of the noble high-class lady has raised her voice like this. This was not what she had taught her, then why?

Frowning, she asked, "Jiaqi, what happened to you?" Then turning to blame all of it on Yun Meiyi, she said, "You don't have to forget my teachings from all these years just to confront someone. I have brought you up with manners, you don't have to get influenced by others. After all, not every dog gets a biscuit when they bark. Let her bark, she won't prove herself to be right by saying just anything."

She said but even though she spoke in favor of her, Yun Jiaqi's expression didn't ease instead she stared at Yun Meiyi, still scared of her.

When Yun Meiyi saw her like that, her lips curled up. People have rightly said, if you have fault in yourself, not even Heaven could give assurance in your heart. "Jiaqi, would you not tell your mother, how well you have kept all her high teaching in your head?"

"…" Yun Jiaqi's expression paled as she gritted her teeth. She was not scared of her mother but she was scared of the consequences that the matter could actually bring if it reached the ears of her grandfather. "Meiyi, you …"

Before she could say more, Yun Meiyi ignored her as if she was some air that she couldn't see and turned to stare straight at Lin Su Yi to say, "It would only be better if you two don't provoke me further. Otherwise, believe me, if even a word about your daughter's deed reaches grandpa's ears abroad, you both would not be able to take the blow. After all, he left me here alone, asking you to take care of me."

She threatened and Lin Su Yi was at a loss of words. It was the truth. The old man did ask her to take care of her. But how could she take care of the girl that was born by her husband's first wife? Lin Su Yi scoffed, looking straight at the girl. But Yun Meiyi's eyes remained fixed at Jiaqi for some reason. She said and then turning on her heels walked upstairs straight without looking back even for once.

Behind Lin Su Yi could only fume. In all these years, this was the first time that Yun Meiyi has talked back at her and showed an arrogant attitude like this. She never knew that the girl even held this nerve. Suppressing her for years felt like, she has successfully molded her that way.

But it only stuck Lin Su Yi now that all her contemplations about Yun Meiyi have been her wishful thinking. And it was enough to put her in severe displeasure. As she saw her ascending the stairs, her eyes caught the pale face of her daughter and she asked, "Jiaqi, will you even tell me what you have done?"
