Monstrous mana

Tay's POV:

Synn just stood there crying and staring at me, he didn't say anything, he didn't make a sound, the air was so cold that steam came out of my nose everytime i exhaled, but he didn't have steam coming out, he wasn't breathing, i was worried but i couldn't drop the acting, he need to believe what i said for it to work. I was so disgusted with myself for what i said that it spread to my face, but that worked too, everything i said was obviously a lie but i still couldn't think of other words to describe it, discusting.

He moved after about ten minutes of waiting, closing his wings tight in its body, finally he's having a breakthrough, he needed to lose his mind to the mana take over his body, now i just need to keep his mana inside him, i put a barrier around him and waited, his body and the ground freezing inside the barrier, an ice dragon, that's pretty good, as expected from Synn.

"Good work Tay." My dad came down to see the breakthrough "There's not much Ice dragons in the city, looks like we got a new one." He laughed and patted my shoulder.

"Yeah..." He looked at me and sighed

"I know how you feel, i did it to you, Lyra and Lon, but it was needed, you just have to explain this to him and apologize, he's smart, he will understand." He smiled

I guess he's right, i have to apologize to him, i'm sure he will accept it. A sound of breaking glass turned our attention back to Synn, his wings contracted and relaxed over and over again until the ice broke and his wings divided and a new pair of wings shot open, a few gasps came from the dragons around the arena and from me and my dad as well, silence few on the arena as his new wings slowly closed to cover his lower half that his others wings couldn't do completly.

"SH*T GET OUT OF THERE!!!" My mom shouted from the her place snapping us back to reality, as soon she yelled ice covered Synn and broke my barrier and more ice was spread around him, we jumped as high as we could trying to get out of the arena, when we did dad put another barrier around it, the ice covered the inside of the barrier in seconds, we landed next to my mother, pain came from my foot, a ice shard pieced it when i was flying.

"Heh, Eye for an eye, in this case foot for an foot." i chuckled as i healed it, i looked at the arena.

"What happened to him?" Lyra shouted while looking at the arena.

"I don't know, he just got a new pair of wings and ice bursted from him." I said while gnawing my claw out of worry.

"He's a dual winged dragon." My dad said, he wasn't as happy as he should be "That might be a problem.".

"Why?" Lon tilted his head "Is that a bad thing?".

"No, it's a very good thing." Dad face was serious "A dual winged dragon are far more stronger and smarter than normal dragons, that explain why he is so smart, but the timing isn't good." He clicked his tongue "A war will happen soon and this will make him a target, we better protect him.".

A gust of wind made him pause, Menf landed next to us along with a adult green dragon, Menf went to the easthern city to negotiate an aliance, he walked closer to us and looked at the barrier.

"What is happening?" He looked to my father.

"Synn" He answered still looking at the barrier "He is a dual winged dragon.".

"What?" Menf frowned "He's the second one?"

"Second one?" I turned to him "There was another?".

"Yeah, but he died in his mana ceremony." He dropped a bomb that i was not expecting.

"WHAT?!" Lyra and Lon said in union, i just stared with my eyes widened to its maximum.

"Calm down, he just died because they couldn't keep his mana in the barrier, they wasn't expecting the sheer amount of mana, he was a fire dragon, when the barrier holding it shattered the fire destroyed half of the westhern city and turned a forest next to it to ashes." The western city at that time was bigger than our city, being the strongest city as well, but after this it became the smallest city so it was a huge explosion.

"But we are strong enough to contain it don't worry.".

"I hope." My dad shouted which made the tension go up.

Hours passed as we just stared at the barrier, Menf and Dad took turns to hold the mana in, night came and finally the ice started to smelt.

"Tay, come with me, we don't have the time to wait the ice smelt by its own." Mom said while getting to ready to fly.

"Why me?" I tilted to my head "Lyra has fire magic, she is better for this.".

"You have wind magic, you can propel my magic with yours, and besides" She turned to me with a serious look "I don't think she will hold it.".

"What?"

She shot to the sky without saying anything, i followed her to the barrier, she put a barrier around us as a hole opened on the barrier, we got in before the mana escaped.

"Put a barrier around your body, you will need it.".

I did as i was told, i nodded letting her know i'm ready, as soon as her barrier was down i was practically slammed to the ground, i gritted my teeth as i try to get back to my feet, it felt like a mountain was in my back.

"It's way more mana than i expect, this is ridiculous." She smirked while letting her fire loose.

"This all Synn's mana?" I looked around, if i didn't had a barrier i would be smashed by now.

"Yeah, and it gets worse in the middle, lets get to work.".

I used my wind to propel her mana as we circled the barrier before going to the middle, we finished when the sun rised again, Menf narrowed his barrier until it was a small ball around Synn's body. The mana was clearly visible, even someone who didn't have mana would be able to see it, truly monstrous.

"Good work everyone, he will be able to get all his mana in a few hours, maybe be awake at night." Menf said while looking at Synn as if it were the most interesting thing on the world, and in a way it were.

"Good to know." The green dragon from easthern city said for the first time. "I will be back after a while." he smiled.

Menf only nodded as he got away.
