“Well, on my inspection of the facilities, I found some energy generators,” Rory said, patting Stella’s shoulder. “All done. Get some rest, and some painkillers. I’ve run out, but I’m sure there are more around here somewhere. Anyway, the energy generators have evidently got some sort of way to communicate with Headquarters, because my DNA is on record. So that means they have a transmitter I can use. Voila, a way to radio Hatzes.”

Liberty’s eyes fell, and he looked away.

“So does that mean more Rangers will come soon?” More Rangers meant that the Legacy government would be re-established on Leonis Alpha. There was no place for a vampire on a government-run station.

Rory tugged on his arm. “We need to talk. Come on, I’m sure we can find some privacy in the middle of all this chaos.”
