“We have a lengthy list of people who’ve offered to help,” Mrs. Pendergrass said. “There will be at least six people here at all times both days. Two of them will man the door, and the others will act as docents.”
“I think you have a handle on things,” Carlton said.
“Yeah,” Eric said, “it sounds as though you’ve done something like this before.”
“As a matter of fact, we have,” she said, “and I’m surprised that a local boy like you doesn’t remember the event. We had a tour of old homes five or six years ago.”
“I was probably up at Georgia when that happened,” Eric said. “I worked part-time while I was going to college, so I couldn’t spend much time driving back and forth between here and Athens.”
