“Aw, that’s sweet. Okay, cool,” he says.

Melanie comes up behind him.

“Good morning!” She grins.

“Hey, Mel!” Josh smiles. “I was just trying to get Maya here to come out to happy hour tonight, but she’s ditching us.”

I turn to Melanie.

“I have a friend who’s just coming out, and I’m taking her to Meow Mix tonight in the hopes that she’ll start meeting people.”

“Well, we won’t miss you,” Josh teases.

I stick my tongue out at him.

“Oh, well.” Melanie smiles. “I’ll be missing it, too. I have practice tonight.”

“Ah yes.” I grin, raising an eyebrow. “You have a big game tomorrow.”

“Well, I’m sorry I won’t make it tomorrow,” Josh says. “Anyway, I’ll see you ladies at lunch.”

Josh starts toward his office. Melanie turns to me.

“So…what are we doing tomorrow after the game?” I whisper.

“It’s a surprise.” She winks, a mischievous smile spreading across her face.

“A surprise?”

“Yep.”

“Is there…a dress code?”
