Chapter 3

In the morning I couldn't wait! It was the first day of school and I was about to see Theodora, she was busy at a family event. When we pulled up to the school, Theo was waiting for me by the front. Theo noticed me and waved, "Hey, Starr." I ran up to her, I stopped and turned to waved to dad who went to park in his teacher spot.

Christian walked past us still mad about something, I stuck my tongue out at him as he walks past. I look over Theo, she wore simple blue-inspired makeup except for her bright red lips. Eyes were like ice and shinned like the moon. Her chocolate hair had perfectly large ringlets as other curls clung to the larger ones. Her outfit this time wasn't over shadowed by her beauty.

Tight black leggings hugged every part down; we could wear the same pants. Her top was a sleeveless creamy blue with a silver outline of the moon on the top. She wore a similar in-color button-up as a jacket. She wore sandals to complement the whole outfit. Those pretty lose curls were pulled up into a sides-up bun today and she wore moon earrings. They matched my suns which now housed the golden Light Crystal. From what Bee told me one housed a false crystal and the other was the real one. We walked inside when tall dark and handsome caught my eyes! "Good morning, ladies see you in a few." I smile and fan my face as Mr. Green walked into the front office.

Theo snapped me out, "Starr, focus he's are teacher lower your standers. Plus; he's got a gold band." The glass broke, "I bet she's happy." Theo, interjects, "Or him you never know." Sighing, "Right, this is gonna be a hard school year when your homeroom teacher is a real piece of eye candy." Theo giggles as we stop at our lockers. There were squeals as three olive toned skinned boys walked in from the gym as they got closer, I could see the similarities in the cold silver eyes and chocolate brown hair, if their hair wasn't short, I bet they'd have matching loose curls too.

They came closer to us, "I see the rumors don't hurt your brothers at all." Theo sighed, "Yeah; they don't get blamed for my mother's death like I do. It's all because I was in the car with her when she died." Right; she told me last week over text what happened they were in a car wreck coming back home. Her mother blocked her and saved Theo from dying in the wreck only for the sacrifice to take her mother's life instead.

Her brothers didn't notice us. "It's our beautiful baby sister and her new friend the sunflower." I smile at Nikolas who is bad with names still tries to remember me. "You girls, are you set for lunch? Theo baby did daddy give you money? Do I need to give you a little something?" Constantine asked us as Theo pushes him off, "Yes, we're fine." Augustinian pulls out a small box of cookies, "γιαγιά made cookies this morning. Now share them and don't hog them to yourself Theo, share with Starr here."

I giggle as Nikolas snapped his fingers, "You girls remember if you get into any trouble, you just call us, and I'll come help you out. I know those nasty girls still say bad things, about you." Theo nods as I smile back, "Don't worry we're stronger in numbers so we'll let you know." Nickolas was the Greek god of the school. I can't imagine what her eldest brother Damen looks like. I heard he was such a beauty that even girls in the next town came to watch him play football.

Nickolas smiles, "Alright we got a good friend here; our sunflower." The boys pat us on the head and head to their classes. "How did your mom survive having five kids under the age of five?" Theo shrugs, "My grandparents are there and so are my aunts and uncles. It is a family business." The bell rang as we scurry into our classroom.

Mr. Green followed behind us closing the door as he welcomed us back. The doors open and the mean blond girl and a couple of her friends follow her in. "Jessica, Cinthia, Heather you are all late, next time it will be marked." Jessica pulled her bright blue eyes out and caused them to shine. "Mr. Green it takes a lot of time to make this, perfect." She said referring to her face. Mr. Green smiled, "Well it's a good thing you're are a human then isn't? We aren't made to be perfect." She fumed as he points to the other side of the room, "Take your seat, I have papers to hand to you.

"As the day passes, Theo and I enjoy lunch as Chris walks over to our table. "Ew, why are you sitting with us?" I ask him as he crosses his arms, "Can't a brother sit with his sister and her friend?" I point to Theodora's brothers on the other side of the cafeteria, "They are brothers who can just sit with their sister, you have a motive, what is it, can you not make friends because of your old thug like attitude that got you places like at the last school." He scowled, but didn't deny it.

Theo was still nervous is Chris after the last time so she stayed quiet. "Why not make friends with Theo's brothers they have a lot of friends. Plus, you football jocks need to stick together." He looked so offended, "I'd rather go eat lunch with dad." I scowl at him, "Then do, you make my friend feel awkward since you like picking on people." By saying that the Zika boys super big brother hearing came running over and pulled Chris' chair around making him face them. "So, you like picking on our sister; huh?"

I clear my voice and point to myself too. Nickolas grew a vein in his neck, "You picking on your own little sister too? What kind of big brother are you?" Constantine and Augustinian grab him as Nickolas; grabs his tray. "Sorry ladies this boy needs to learn some manners." I wave to Chris who gives the stink-eye. Both Theo and I laugh, watching her brothers set Chris as their table with other football players.

I hop through the main city looking back over where the monster attacked last time. Nothing really the girl was apparently short on her apartment rent and a few others things, but her heart now is normal nothing special. Sighing nothing yet, where is the mother of the monster?

I find myself back in Dogwood Corner and hop around. I while hopping around I come to the mansions. One name on the mansion plate was familiar. Zika; I think that it was Starr's friend Theodora's family name. I get in and find Theodora and Starr sitting in the living room talking about school. I scan over the room, when my fuzzy fur tingled as the Baby blue crystal began to burn. Theodora, she might not have a heart of gold like Starr. But to the sorrow-filled Baby-Blue Light Crystal she fit perfectly.

I read her heart fully to see if she fits everything. Yep, has completed its 13th lap around the sun. They have overcome a great grievance with the kindness of the night. With the addition of the crystal really loved her. I hop into Starr's bag and listen more closely as they run over homework. Whatever physics was it put me to sleep.

**

Theo smiled looking over our homework, "Yes, Starr, you finally got it!" I smile back, "It was hard; how come Mrs. Reed couldn't explain it for me this way. "They have to teach everyone the same stuff whether they like it or not." I groan as her γιαγιά walks in with a plate. "Oh, good you are still here Starr, I made some Moussaka."She walked away after setting the dish down. I grabbed the plate and took a bite, "You don't have to eat it if you don't like it, Starr. Moussaka isn't for everyone and the eggplant makes it a little strong."

I chew and understood what she meant it was very gamey and I have no clue who actually ate an eggplant besides the people in this house. "It's actually pretty good. But I can't eat it on a weekly basis."

Theo yells to her brothers in Greek when Nickolas walks in grabbing the plate. "It's okay Starr, Moussaka isn't for everyone." He said walking back to his room. He said walking back to his room. I sigh as γιαγιά walks back in with a plate of Tzatziki and the bread was fresh and warm. This is when I noticed Bee poking out of my bag. I smack my bag down hoping Theo didn't notice them. Bee hopped over to me trying to get my attention. When a crash outside caused the house to shake. Everyone inside ran to a window.

Outside were crowds of people fighting. The crash was caused by a bus ramming into the wall outside the house. Alexander Zika, Theodora's father ran through his home, he threw the doors open and started yelling asking if people were okay. The people outside were fighting almost like they were in a coma like state. That's when I saw it, a shadow walker. Bee was mortified, this one must have caused less activity in the light to kept itself hidden this long, and it was MASSIVE!

I ran to the bathroom, and look at Bee. "This is going to be too much for me to handle by myself." Bee nervously sweats, "I know you can handle it, but I do know the Blue Light Crystal has awaken. But I haven't had time to talk with the holder." I look at them, "Go get them don't hang around me! I know I need help." Bee turns to me, "Alright but you need to transform." I nod and flick both earrings, "Gold Crystal--!" I stop when the door opens, "Hey Starr, dad said we need to go to the basement, it's not safe up here."

I was shocked and Bee hid behind the door.I fix my shirt and smile, "Sure, let's go." Bee jumps on my shoe as I quickly swipe them into my hand. Bee was looked determined to come with us, meaning...Oh my goodness! Theodora is going to be a Gradian of Light with me!In the basement, was a small living space with three rooms a kitchen, and a bathroom. It was like a mini house, but more bunker-like. Theodora's was already in one of the bedrooms, she was praying and started to make the bed so she can either sleep or ready it for the next family member. Theo goes to comfort her, but I push her into the neighboring room. "Starr what was that for?"

I apologize, "I know, I know but you have to hear me—er—well more like my friend out." I hold Bee out and Theo looks mad still, that is until Bee speaks. "Hello Theodora, I am Bee, and I have something special to give you." Bee spun around and presented a small box unlike mine which held the other Light Crystals, this one only held the light blue crystal. "This is a light crystal, and this only awakens when a person has overcame a great grievance with the kindness of the night."

Theodore looks at Bee then me, "Is this real?" I nod, "Look I'll do mine." Theodora, gasps, "Wait yours!" I flick the earrings, "Gold Crystal, Glitter and Shine!" as I transform the beautiful golden suit returned and my hair and eyes changed color. I finish my transformation with a bow. Holding out my hand, "I am Radiant Sun, I am a Light Guardian, trying to protect the world form Sandow Walkers and whomever their leader is." I watched her ponder over her thoughts before picking up the box. "Alright, Blue Crystal, Glitter, and Shine!"

**

There is no logical reason this is happening to me right now and yet here I am about to ask this very likely to be a goldfish pebble thing, and yet my best friend just used her earrings to change her appearance. She doesn't even look like Starr Turnabout, her hero persona is Radiant Sun.

Fine! Fine, okay I'll do it. "Alright Blue Crystal, Glitter and Shine!" My clothes just disappeared, and to be replaced with the same powdery blue color jacket that matched Starr's the same white pants, the gloves and silver accents. A pair of crescent moon earrings appeared as the crystal connected itself to the right side a flux crystal appeared on the left.

A pair of boots just appeared and now silver chains are connecting to a moon broch. My forehead heated up and I felt a tiara which I assume matches Starr—I mean Radiant Sun. The final touches were finished when a sword appeared at my side and my hair changed.

Radiant Sun smiled, "Wow you look so cute what are you going to call yourself?" Panicking over the sudden question, I blurt out the first thought to my head and grab my compact mirror, "Shimmering Moon—" I blink looking at myself I was unrecognizable, the curly brown hair was now a soft pink color and pulled up into a sides' up bun with the rest of my loose curls hitting my back. My eye are no longer silver they were that same powdery blue that was the coat and it surrounded my eyes as well.

I blink a few times before another one of those little goldfish pebbles comes out of nowhere. It smiled at us and cleared its throat, "Wonderful, we have landed a new member of the Light Guardians but I don't know if you all remember the outside is in chaos! Bee what are you doing get them moving!" Bee, Radiant's little pebble jumped, "Vee you were able to awaken from your slumber!" Vee jumped up on my shoulder, "Shimmering Moon, we need to get going, you are all equally important but if Radiant and Bee are going to stand here then we're going to stop them ourselves." I gasp a little, "But there is to many, for me to take on by myself."

I open the door to the room and look around finding napping, I sigh opening the door a little more, "Come on we need to make it through without alerting the alarms." I walk over to the stairs and open the key pad, "7217087" I said pushing it into the pad, "Now we have five minuities to get up the stairs and out of the house before the alarm turns itself back on."

The group nods as I lead them up and through the living room trying to doge ever sight of my brothers or my dad. Opening the window in the living room we climb out and I sigh, "That took ten years off my life." Radiant Sun taps my shoulder, "Don't sigh yet we still have to fight them." I turn to the front of my yard, people laid on the ground, others were fighting like their life depended on it.

I watch as the workers on my yard hide while my brothers try to protect young children and dad is sheltering the elderly workers. I feel tears run down my face as the blood begins to flow down dad's head. Radiant held me back, "Breath you have to have a cool head or your thoughts will be clouded." I stop; she was right, "We can't just stand here though!" Radiant smiled, "Yes, you are right but we need a plan, first off, that sword at your side will come out a butterknife if you don't say Glitter and Shine, turn this sword; Divine. While the rest of your moves come to you as you go."

Starr really needs to think over her planning before spewing off random things. "How did you take on the last one?" I finally asked her, "Oh, well I just sliced it in half but that one was smaller like human size." I sigh, right why would my first one be normal? "Okay, let's just go at it." I said looking into the yard, finding an opening,"This way Radiant Sun." I lead her through as one of the comatose fighters runs up to me with a very long stick. Wait nope that is a whole tree branch; I grab the hilt of the sword, "Glitter and Shine, turn this sword; Divine!" I pull the sword out of the seethe and the blade is beautiful. Striking the branch, I call out causing the sword to glow, "Tears of the moon!"

I slice the branch, thankfully not the human, the person fell as the shadow surrounded them faded, they were crying, "Why did he have to die." This was when I heard others crying, about deaths or sickness. "This is the power of the blue crystal," Vee said from my shoulder, nodding I help him to a tree before we move on.

We run farther up the yard, and reach the Shadow Walker. Radiant activated her sword, she smiled at me, "Thanks for having my back, Shimmering Moon." Smiling in return no problem Radiant Sun." Radiant takes her sword, in hand.

She looked it dead in the face, "I am, your; appointment now, you can call me Radiant Sun, Protector of the sunlight defender of Earth!" She looked at me and motioned me to go next. "Oh, and I am ." Radiant smiled giving me a thumbs up, "Now take the Wrath of the Sunlight Rapier," "And, the !" We charge at it and both slice it causing a small child to fall to the ground and the other shadows to fade.

The people in the yard were still wobbly so we had time to grab the child. The boy was about eight he was crying over the death of his grandfather. Starr was smiling at him and trying to show him her sword or something when I held the small boy tightly, I lean in close to his ear and whispered, "I know how you feel I lost my mother to death, she left me sooner than anyone ever wanted, but I am thankful for the time I was able to spend with her." The child cried and his parents finally came and took him home.

I turn to Radiant who has a sparkle in her eye. "So how do you activate a clean up spell?" Radiant blinked when Vee clears their throat, "The Golden Crystal is only a ray of sunlight its job is more attack oriented and yours will have more healing and clean up, hold your sword up and ask for a cleansing." Confused I hold up the sword and pull something from my butt. "From the sky above, I call on the sun and moon cleanse the earth of the shadow murk. "

The earth cleaned itself with shimmering gold and silver lights as the people seemed to have forgotten the what just happened to them. Radiant come over and smiled, when the people surrounded us, "Are you the ones who saved us?" "Who are you?" "Are you human?" we smile before jumping into the air we hid on a tree not too far in the yard. A boy about our age said something interesting, "I saw them, and their named were Radiant Sun and Shimmering Moon! America has their own magical girls!"

Sneaking back inside the house we detransform and in time for my father and brothers to retrieve us. Starr stayed for dinner and the Turnabouts joined us Starr's parents brought food to go with the dinner γιαγιά made. At this point she should have invited everyone on the lawn to eat dinner, but it was nice having so many people in the house again kind of like when mom was around.
