New Patient

Since Dev received Rose's meditation art a month ago, the time has flown. As of now, she is practicing meditation. Things have improved for her.

Having started her meditation, she is now focused. Dev had poured all his savings on Lily's food. Furthermore, he spent all the money he earned on her.

He has become well known for his clinic. As a result, he doesn't earn less. Money was spent aggressively by him.

He sat in his clinic waiting for patients to arrive.

A little girl arrived in the clinic. Dev was stunned to see a child in his clinic.

The little girl was a Dwarf girl. She didn't look taller than 80 cm. She was bulky, as all the Dwarves are. The girl's eyes were red and swollen. It looked like she had been crying for a long time.

Dev was confused, as he could not spot any injury on the girl. The first thought he had: the girl is lost and is crying for her parents.

"Are you lost?" He gently asked the girl.

She shook her head.

"You don't look injured. Are you feeling sick?" He gently asked another question.

"I am not injured. My father is injured," She answered in a shaky voice.

"Alright, where is your father?" He gently asked.

"Papa is unconscious. So, he couldn't come here," She responded.

"Okay, don't worry. Everything is going to be fine. Take me to your house, and let's see whether I can treat your father or not," He said smilingly.

The girl nodded and started running. She wasn't running very fast, so Dev was able to follow her easily. He was shocked when he followed the girl to the Dwarf Nobles area.

Dwarves didn't discriminate on the basis of class, but still, they had different sections. There wasn't a wall between the Noble area and the commoner areas. But, the difference was stark between both the locations. All the houses were luxurious on the side of the Nobles which wasn't the case for commoners.

It didn't mean that commoners lived in shabby houses. If commoner Dwarves live on earth. Their homes would be considered luxurious. Dwarves loved beautiful and shiny things. Even the weapons they make are considered best in both looks and durability.

Following the girl, he went to her house. Two guards were standing outside her home. As Dev tried to enter the house, the guards stopped him. He tried speaking to them, but they wouldn't listen and told him to leave. He had no idea what he should do. He didn't move. He stood there waiting for the girl to come out of the house.

The girl didn't notice that Dev wasn't following her in her house. She rushed to her unconscious father lying on the bed in his room. Weeping, She told him, "Papa, I've brought a healer. You'll wake up soon. You'll get healthy soon."

She rushed out of the room to check where Dev was. She noticed that Dev was nowhere to be seen. She waited some time for him, but still, he was nowhere to be seen. She rushed back to the gates and noticed Dev standing some distance away from the house gate, and the guards were in an attacking posture.

"What are you doing? Why aren't you letting him in?" She yelled at the guards

Guards were stunned to see the girl yelling at them for stopping the stranger from entering the house. They were sweating hard because they could see the anger on the girl's face. They had stopped, a significant person. They were sure that they had lost their job. Dev could see the tension on the guard's face.

They made way for the stranger to enter.

"I am sorry, I should have told them to not stop you. If I was not in a hurry, then you would not have been insulted," The girl apologized to Dev.

"Don't worry. It's not a big deal. I don't feel insulted,"

"Let's go and see your father," He responded, smiling.

Dev entered the house with the girl. He entered the room where the girl's father was resting. A Bulky Dwarf was sleeping on the bed. Dev could swear to god that he hadn't seen anyone bulkier than the person sleeping on the bed. The man looked weird.

When he reached near the man, he suddenly had a subconscious feeling of danger. He was stunned by the sensation of danger. He wanted to run away from the man, even though he was unconscious.

He turned around and asked the girl, "How long has he been unconscious for?"

"A week," the girl nervously answered.

"A WEEK," Dev couldn't keep his calm and yelled.

"Why did you wait for so long? Don't you know anything can happen in a week?" He told her angrily.

"Beca..because Papa warned me not to, " She responded to him while crying.

Dev knew he did wrong when he saw the girl start crying. He took a heavy sigh.

"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have yelled at you," Dev apologized to her.

He checked the body. There were no external injuries on the body. Both of the man's hands beginning, from the arm, had turned purple. Dev didn't dare to touch the hands of the man. It was a clear sign of poisoning.

Dev fell into a dilemma because he didn't know whether he could treat the man or not, as the poison could affect at least an intermediate Level 3. Can his Prana affect this potent poison? He wasn't sure.

Dev wasn't sure about the man's power level, as he had seen many initial Level 3 and also talked with them. But, he was sure he was above intermediate Level 3.

He may be Level 3 in front of his patients, but in reality, he wasn't even a Level 1.

If he started the treatment, he won't be able to treat others, and the treatment would also take very long.

He turned around and asked the girl, "What's your name, little girl?"

The girl answered him, "I'm not a little girl. My name is Regina."

"Okay, Regina, it will take some time to see whether my treatment is effective or not."

"Are you the only person in this house other than the patient? If you aren't, I need to talk to someone who can make decisions," Dev asked her.

Tears started pouring out of Regina's already swollen eyes. She answered Dev, "Yes, only me and Papa live together. I am an orphan. Papa adopted me. Papa has no one other than me."

Dev was feeling awkward. He couldn't ask a child for money. He knew that they are very wealthy. As they are nobles, but he still felt awkward asking a little girl for gold.

Regina could see Dev was feeling awkward. She knew why he was feeling embarrassed. She was more mature than she looked. So, she asked Dev what was on his mind.
