Begin the Investigation

A lamp on the street was flickering and a crow cried out before leaving the branches of a tree. The half moon in the night sky shone brightly, a gust of wind appeared and the flickering lamp on the street powered off.

*Police sirens*

"Tch, they're already here? I thought I'd be able to get at least five more minutes before I escape...", he muttered as he wiped the blood off of his face with his right hand. In his left, he was gripping onto a woman's hair, which was once plain brown, now stained with red.

He looked at the corpse of the woman and questioned himself, "Hmm...should I dispose of you or should I let the police have some fun thinking they have a clue on who killed you?".

He chuckled at himself at the thought of him asking a such a dumb question.

"Of course I should go with the more entertaining option.".

His brown eyes shined as he smirked.

"I FOUND THE VICTIM'S BODY", a policeman shouted as he laid his eyes on a gruesome sight.

"Search the area, the killer might still be in the area, the cuts seem fresh!", the leader of the policemen ordered while inspecting the wounds.

Knife slashes were drawn all over the dead woman's legs, her arms were chopped into pieces, and her face was bruised all over. Her ankles were both twisted horribly and her torso had a huge slit going from top to bottom.

An ambulance arrived not too long after and it was very clear that there was no hope for the woman, she was completely wrecked. Minutes after searching the area, the police reported that there was nobody around.

The next morning, in the police station office, Aidan sighed. He was 5'7, 26 years old, and had a pretty face, his eyes were a light hazel, and his short chestnut hair was messy. He was fair skinned and had a skinny frame. His mini side fringe covered half his eye as he sighed once more.

"It's been so boring lately, the only reports that have come in are just about a missing cat and a child who got lost the park who was found almost immediately hiding in the slide."

"I mean, I guess it's good that the neighbourhood has been rather quiet and peaceful but I want to do some action...", Aidan muttered as he organised his paperwork on his desk for the third time.

Suddenly, the chief of another police station walked in and started to address an issue, "Listen here folks, just last night another murder has happened. This is the second time since last week and we're still working on other matters at our side of the station. So I want someone here to be in charge of solving who the murderer is." "We have the body of the woman who was unfortunately murdered last night and we are currently searching it for clues.".

The chief scanned the room and spotted the enthusiastic Aidan, he points to him and says, "From now on, this person will be in charge of this investigation.", he reads Aidan's name tag and continues to speak, "You, Aidan, come to the investigation room later at ten.". After saying what he wanted, the chief left the station and drove away.

Aidan clenched his fist as he inwardly celebrated, "Finally! An interesting mission!".

People around him started congratulating him for being in charge of the investigation, and they all knew that he was eager for something new. Aidan looked at the clock on the wall behind him and was counting how much time was left until he can go to the investigation room. 57 minutes.

He decided to take a quick walk to pass the time so he tells the rest of the officers that he was going to patrol the area.

57 minutes go by quickly.

Aidan takes a step into the investigation station, which he rarely goes to. The only times he got to go inside there was when he was delivering documents and other similar stuff. The chief was inside waiting for him and once they met, he started to guide him into the building. They go downstairs and they reach a door. Once they opened the door, there was a long corridor that led to many other doors.

Aidan looked at each door and wondered what was in them.

"They're rooms for other investigations," the chief said, after reading Aidan's intrigued expressions.

They walked along the corridor and went into one of the many doors on the right. Inside, there was a corpse of a woman.

"That must be the victim,"

The chief nodded and he started to explain about what clues they have found so far, Aidan listened and he nodded every few minutes of the explanations. He explained about the whereabouts of the first victim as well as the second. They caught a tall hooded figure on the cameras when looking back, but unfortunately, there was no cameras at the alleyway of where the victim was killed. They also found footprints of blood stained on the floor of the crime scene, and the size of the shoe print which was most likely 12. He then gave a list of people who were the main suspects.

'Wow... that's a lot of suspects, how will we ever be able to find out who it's going to be...', Aidan thought to himself as he scanned the list.

While looking through the list, two men caught his eye. Their profile pictures showed really good looking faces and were just a few years older than himself, 'There's no way it's one of these two,', he smiled as he continued to read the rest of the list.
