In a world where magic reigns supreme, what happens when a boy was left out unable to use magic? Augustus Gray was one such child. He always dreamt to be a mage, to unravel the mysteries of magic but he was cast aside by the magic itself. Watch as Augustus explores the world to find out the answer to why he was abandoned and sets out on a journey to become the strongest even without being able to use magic. P.S. - MC is not a reincarnate or a transmigrator so do not expect him to know all the possibilities of psychic powers. He will have to train his ability. I'm a new author so please advice me if you have any suggestions for the story. Try to leave healthy criticism and I will work on it

THE START OF HIS PATH - 1

Blinding rays of sunlight fell on my eye from the window.

I opened my eyes in annoyance. After being awake I remembered last night and immediately used mana only for me to realize I'm low on it and then it hit me that I passed out.

'Ugh, so this is what it feels like when you're low on mana. I feel like I'm on periods or something and don't even ask how I know about it.

Well, I discovered a few things after experimenting for a few hours last night after accidentally using too much mana and passing out I guess. By the looks out of it, the other kids must still be sleeping or those little devils would be screaming like every morning. Especially the little ones. They're demons, I tell you!

Anyway, What I found out after experimenting was that I could manipulate objects using my energy. Maybe not even the objects themselves as I could feel what they're made up of when I'm using my power, It was like they're made up of little things. I guess I have to study more to learn these things.

Except for that I also found out that when I'm manipulating objects they have this purple glow on them just like my eyes and the colour of my mana.

I also tried to give my mana shapes and practised a little control. I could now confidently say that it has a lot of potentials. I tried creating multiple things like a shield, arrow, ball, and even a sword and an axe but I couldn't try its durability as I didn't want to ruin the room.

I tried lifting my bed and almost succeeded before passing out due to not being able to consider that I was already low on mana due to the several experiments I did.

'I should go and eat something first, I'm feeling really hungry and even tired'.

I stepped out of the bed and headed to the washroom to take a shower.

'Ah, now I'm feeling good'.

'Now should I tell the others that I could use magic too? But what would I even tell them?

That I could do something that no one has ever succeeded in before? Hm, that just sounds trouble.'

'Well I just have to stay here for a few months, let's just make it past here, and then I'll decide what I should do.

I'm pretty much convinced that I don't want to go to any academy or something. No one there will be able to teach me anyway since everything they taught is almost related to affinities anyway.

I also want to learn how to fight but It's not like I can hire a magic knight tutor or something.

Let's just focus on my training now, no need to hurry. I could become an adventurer or something similar which would give me a little money, freedom, and also experience. I should also start studying a bit more if I'm not going to an Academy. I don't want to remain a fool throughout my life.

I stepped out of the shower and put on my clothes which were all either grey or black.

'I should also buy some clothes, no wonder they think I'm weird if all I wear is black or grey'

I opened the door and went down the stairs, I live on the third floor. The orphanage has 3 floors in this building and there is another building too but that's mostly for kids below 5.

There are not many caretakers too, Just Sophie, Her husband Ron, and his older sister who by the way is the most beautiful as well as scary women I've ever seen in my life.

'No wonder she's still unmarried.

"Oi brat, where were you last night". Cassandra calls out to me as I was going to the lawn.

'Ah, here comes the devil' I thought.

I look to my right only to see a woman that was stunningly gorgeous, especially her green hair which match the colour of her eye. She was wearing a red top with brought a good contrast with her hair. She was over 35 but still looked like a woman in her twenties.

'Probably due to being a mage, I think'.

Mages live long life. Some were even hundreds of years old like the famous "GUARDIANS".

She was a 4-circle mage which was actually a pretty big deal as she was one of the strongest people in town but she's mostly out of town and only visits once a few months.

I still don't even know what she does huh'.

"Ah, You look so pretty, did you perhaps become more beautiful Cassandra," I asked in the hope she just let it go that I didn't eat my food last night.

"Shut up". She said with a blank face.

"What were you even doing that you forgot to even eat?" She asked.

"Well I was exhausted after training so I just went off to sleep directly". I replied.

'Well, I'm technically saying the truth right now.

She just looks at me and sighs.

"Augustus, life doesn't end just because you couldn't use magic. Not everyone around you is a mage, right?

You can still live a normal life. Stop being hard on yourself, you're a child and you should live like one. If you want to train, then do so but not at the expense of your health.

Now go and eat breakfast, Ron's making it today."

'Well, she may be a little scary but still kind at heart.'

"Yes, I'm just going there". I replied with a smile.

Well, she was not wrong about the magic part, maybe I can live a normal life and people wouldn't care if I could or couldn't use it but not now, Now that I got a chance to make my dream a reality, I cannot back off.

Sorry, Cassandra, I might not take your advice but I'll prove to you that I could achieve my dream.

Smiling, I made my way into the kitchen, It was still early so there were only a few kids and Sophie was serving while Ron was making eggs.

I made my way to the table and had a shitload of food, making others gawk their eyes out because I always ate too little but not today, I was so hungry that I ate at least 4 people's share. Sophie though was still smiling looking at me devouring while Ron was making narcissistic comments about how god blessed him with cooking skills.

After eating my fill and embarrassing myself in front of them, I ran off to the room but not before thanking them for the food.

I went to my room first to take a black jacket and some boots before going out of the orphanage and telling them I'll come by for dinner.

I made my way to the nearby forest to test my ability. The forest near the town though was around 20 minutes away and was relatively safe as adventurers came by monthly to take care of any beast that went too close to the village.

'Well, time to try my magic'.
