Chapter 87: All In Good Fun

Open Road, Unknown City, Unknown State....

The midday sun was hot and unyielding as Lonnie's sedan sped down the winding highway. Cigarette smoke had escaped from the rolled down window like exhaust from the roof of a train as Lex sat beside him in the passenger seat lounging against the leather and trying his best to keep cool as sweat seemed to pour off the blond lad whom had taken to riding shirtless. His exposed pale torso was as slick as his hair which was sticking to his forehead and neck respectively. Lonnie was also drenched in sweat and unbuttoned his shirt at the collar and rolled up his sleeves. He was keeping an eye on the road and the issues with the radio and the growing nagging sensation of hunger had his mind elsewhere. He'd been craving a steak and a drink both as he passed many a gas station and tore through several towns before the needs long ignored got the better of him. He'd been making good time despite his shifting focus and eventually settled for turning into the nearest rest stop to stretch his legs and get a breath of fresh air.

Lex was more than pleased to have a break where he could walk and answer the call of nature without having to fear a cop sprouting up from behind to talk about indecent exposure or the many bottles of urine Lonnie tossed out the window on their trip due to him refusing to stop for more than gas when he'd been behind the wheel and concerned with the time. Lex had missed his farm as much as Lonnie had, but he didn't see the point in tempting the law with undue speeding and littering.

Once he arrived at the restroom, he found he'd been alone as not a single person had stopped by that day aside from him that he could tell. Lonnie checked the trunk, taking off his over shirt and leaving on the white men's tank top he had beneath it as he moved toward the restroom after Lex. Once Lonnie had stepped inside, the rather playful lad proceeded to pelt him with water from the sink in a bid to cool him off.

Lonnie chased Lex along the room splashing a bit of water on the lad in his own right before catching up to him outside, where he tackled the blond teen and they tumbled to the ground and Lex ended up on top of the older man.

"Think you're clever don't you baby?" asked Lonnie lying on his back with Lex on top of him. "You think wet sluts like you deserve to be on top?"

Lex leaned down and kissed him on the lips while Lonnie held on to him taking a moment to enjoy just being close with him despite the heat and the long drive. After another series of kisses, they eventually got up and climbed back into the car after Lonnie took the time to relieve himself directly in the grass before getting back in the driver seat. Lex sat beside his window as they sped off down the highway intent on reaching their destination despite it getting closer and closer to sundown.

The later it got, Lonnie decided to pull in to a local restaurant and ordered food for the both of them. Lex was pleased to be getting something to eat, but he wasn't too keen on sticking around for the meal. Lonnie convinced him that there was nothing to worry about and he'd been right as they both ventured to their selected booth and ordered their respective meals. Lex was a bit nervous about the place but the lack of a crowd and the fact that they were on the farthest end of the restaurant had put him at ease.

Lonnie ordered steak, his usual whenever they dined out or ate at home.

Lex ordered a burger and fries, which Lonnie was all too eager to eat a good deal of while awaiting the arrival of his own food.

"Don't think I forgot our discussion from the other day." said Lonnie cutting into the steak that finally arrived for him via the waiter.

Lex bit into his burger and looked at him with confusion.

"The one about you going back to school." said Lonnie with a stern expression.

"Not this again." said Lex growing anxious.

"Yes this again." replied Lonnie still glaring at Lex. "You made me a promise and you're going to keep it."

Lex sighed knowing he couldn't refuse Lonnie anything.

"Alright...I'll get on that once we get back home, but only because you want me to." conceded Lex.

Lonnie treated him to another dapper smile and went back to eating his meal.

A waitress had overheard their conversation and thought it adorable that a father was taking his son out for diner. Lonnie glanced in her direction a time or two before focusing on his meal. Lex did the same as they ate in companionable silence for a bit of the time before taking note of the music that the establishment was playing. A few familiar tunes here and there that got Lonnie's attention as he finished off his meal before Lex had done the same.

The left the restaurant without incident and climbed back into the car. It was dark out and the road was quite difficult to see so Lonnie made the detour to yet another motel room which happened to be the last as they would be back home on the farm come the next morning with a bit of early travel.

Lex had been as exhausted as he knew Lonnie was from all the driving the previous day and they both made it back to their room where Lonnie had been the first to dive into bed after getting undressed down to his boxer shorts and allowing his head to hit the pillow. Lex climbed into bed after him doing the same once they'd been safely inside and he let down his guard. His head hit the pillow and he found himself wrapped in Lonnie's arms as he too drifted off into a contented slumber. All things considered, it had not been a bad day, and for the first time in a long time, Lex had to admit to himself how much fun he had while out and about with Lonnie.
