Unknown Lifeforms-1

" Well, this is awkward. Are you positive that I can go outside?" I asked.

" I never said that, from few of the ships parts that landed around the globe I am getting some signals but they are already showing signs of low power." Ariella took back her statement immediately.

" You can control them here? Wasn't separating them from the mainframe leads to their destruction?"

" That's only a rule to adhere anyone form tampering with the system. Beside I can bypass most of the inbuilt security but that's not the issue. The reason why I am saying that it's possible for you to leave the ship is because I am gathering heat signatures all around where our ship landed. Although the main ship had lost it's detection capabilities I can reroute other terminals to pinpoint our location."

" So there are people outside, don't tell me we landed back on earth!" When I thought more about it, discovering another livable planet was too far-fetched of an idea. It made more sense that we somehow manage to came back to earth and landed around some city.

Even with our technological advancement, it was not enough to know what truly lies inside whatever we just went through. At this point I am betting more on wormhole.

" That's impossible, if we were on earth the federation would have arrived to retrieve the craft. There was no way we will be stuck standing at the middle of a city!" Ariella made a good point.

" So basically you are saying we landed in an alien planet? What about the lifeforms did you have anything on that?"

" I do but because of abrupt landing and intense atmospheric heat most of the sensors are down that include visual device. Only one section of the ship was able to send a video file but it's heavily corrupted but I did see some movements in it's vicinity."

I immediately went to the mainframe computer that was still functioning and pulled up every information that she collected over the past two days. Most of it was corrupted as she informed but the file in question, the one with visuals I clicked on to see what she was talking about.

The first few seconds were recording the initial impact when the section impacted making a large crater. I can't distinguish what it hit because the only thing recorded were dirt then everything went black for few seconds.

After which it started recording again, the angle was pretty bad. It seems like the craft section was the weapon depot that was only there for temporary measures. There were many such sections for emergency use that even I forgot were there probably because the ship was first generation Redwing.

" Did we landed at night? I can't see anything."

" I can't discern the time of strange planets! But we did land at far side so you could say it was nighttime when we landed. I will play the enhanced version of it so that you could see the nimble movements of whatever that walked passed the cameras." Ariella took control of the terminal and pulled up another video.

With contrast and exposure turned to max, I was finally able to see something. It was only for a couple of second but something definitely 'walked' passed the cameras. The figure was too black to make anything out of it but I strangely find it familiar.

" Hold on a minute! It's that look like human silhouette? There are humans here?" It definitely looked human! The consequences of finding intelligent life forms on alien planet were insurmountable but what was even more mind-blowing was lifeforms looking bipedal just like humans!

" That's impossible! Do you know the chances of finding intelligent lifeform much less humans outside earth?"

" I don't care about the odds. I know a human when I see one! How far is this taken?"

" This is the nearest one, many of other ship parts are several thousand kilometers away from us. They are still sending signals but not for long, they will go into preservation mode to conserve whatever power they have left. It might be few years but it wouldn't hold much longer."

" They might be friendly for all we know and if I share some of my knowledge, they could provide some help to fix up the ship."

" Why? Are you planning to go back?"

" I don't know yet. Who knows they could have more advance technology making our tech useless to them right? There is no need to worry before even meeting them." I was strangely optimistic despite something growing inside of me telling me that I was wrong again.

Telling Ariella will only fuel her artificial ego so I kept it to myself and started preparing to head out. I didn't want to admit it but she did a great job preserving the vital components of the ship despite it being rendered useless as soon as we exited the wormhole.

" I have readied the nano battlesuit to protect you from the harmful atmosphere and a filtering device that would fit right on your back. There is also different type of protective equipments in the empty room behind your cabin."

" I don't need guns. It will only make them fearful."

" Don't think like you are on earth! For all we can know they are hostile from the get go not to mention they might have different weapons that I didn't have any data on! If you want to survive do as I say and pack that communication device. I will be able to analyze what you are seeing and record it for future viewing." Ariella was surprisingly stern about my safety.

She was sounding more and more like the mother, the head of church that I grew up in but despite what I was thinking. I did as she told me and readied myself. From what she told me the craft had sunken deep in dirt with only access door being the top where the third engine resided.

I climb into the elevator and headed for the topmost floor from where I can access the emergency vents taking me right outside the craft. With Ariella's guidance, it took me few minutes before I reached the farmost section of the ship.

Because the ship was built using the special alloy, it was hardest thing that human ever gotten their hands on. It needed special circumstances and procedure to even melt and there were a lot of steps involved, if one deviated even a little the end result would be an unstable compound that's highly brittle to touch!

" I really to cut right through it. It would have saved me some time."

" Don't even think about it! Every little part is precious, you have to collect everything to make the craft functional!" Ariella reprimanded him for my crude joke.

" I know. Alright, that's the last one. I am opening the hatch." I pressed the button to activate my helmet. A protective shield covered my vision making everything look more blurry. It was necessary to isolate the foreign air partials that might be harmful to my body.

After calming myself, I flung open the hatch and dragged my body outside finally stepping foot in the unknown world!
