The Birth

Anne's eyes watered with unshed tears as she called out to him with a pleading voice "A-Adrian…" The words broke underneath the pressure of her despairing heart which so desperately clung to him with everything in her.

She wasn't ready to let go, neither was he, but he had to go. Fate was unfairly cruel to them and she knew she would live with the heartache for the rest of her life, but at least, she had something precious to hang on to.

"Anne, I have to go, but I'll be watching over the both of you, I promise." Adrian whispered softly as he crouched down beside her with the baby enveloped safely in his arms.

She sobbed weakly and the tears that filled the brim of her eyes finally dropped silently down her cheeks.

"Please…We need you…" Anne's voice betrayed her as it broke into a smattering whisper, the words barely passing through the wind.

"Shh, save your strength, love. You know I can't stay, if I abandon my duties, they'll come for the both of you and we'll never be safe from committing treason. We could never escape, this is the only way to protect you." He emphasized on his words with a profound sincerity, making sure she realized how dangerous it would be for the both of them if he did stay, but she was rather reluctant to listen.

Sitting up, she clutched his arm tightly while tears flowed freely down her cheeks. She wanted to say more, she wanted to beg him to stay and never let go like he had promised, but her voice betrayed her, and the words clogged the back of her throat, allowing her to release only muffled sobs.

He cupped her face with one hand, their foreheads rubbing gently while he spoke in a soft tone "I'll always love you and our little angel."

Her sobs stopped for a moment as she finally lowered her gaze on the baby in his arms.

A radiant grin cut through her lips as she took in the charming sight of their baby. She chuckled softly as she marveled at the sight of their beautiful creation.

"She's so beautiful.." She said in a trance like state as her fingers brushed the baby's plump cheeks with a delicate gesture.

"She looks exactly like you." Anne said as she noticed the baby's striking features. Her small head was covered with pristine white hair and her large eyes were a dazzling magenta hue, the same ethereal features that she had always marveled in Adrian.

His flowing white hair and purple eyes had always left her mesmerized. Every inch of him was sculpted with a perfection that seemed unmatched, but he had such captivating features because he was no mere human, he was a being superseding the mortal comprehension.

"She has your aura." He added, his eyes keenly fixed on the baby in his arms, watching her with adoration in his eyes.

For a moment, Anne shut her eyes as she swallowed back her tears and when she opened them, a newfound courage washed over her as she regained her voice and composure for a split moment.

"It's not an easy decision to make and no matter how much I plead for you to stay, you can't, but I've come to see reason with this hard choice and accept it. We have to protect her and it would be impossible to do that if you were here." Anne said, but the moment she said the last words, she broke out in tears.

"Anne." Adrian called with a heavy heart as he enveloped her in a warm embrace while she cried on his shoulders.

His insides were brutally ripped apart and impaled by the painful sting of her tears and heartache, the sound of her crying was a torment he could never wake up from. It tore him in and out in ways he would have never imagined possible.

He let her cry for as long as she wanted until she finally stopped, but her sobs still echoed softly in his ears.

Peering his remorseful eyes into hers, he said "I'm sorry for the pain I've caused you, my sin is the greatest regret I'll live with."

"You made me the happiest I'd ever been and although you may be leaving, you've given me a precious gift to cherish our memories, there's no regret here." Anne said with a bittersweet smile clinging to her lips, her hazel eyes, windows to their shared memories that were already a part of them, embedded deep into their souls.

"You are right." Adrian said as he caressed her face dotingly.

"choose a name for her, before you leave." Anne said, almost choking while completing the sentence, but she managed to gulp back the tears.

Silence hung in the air for a second before he declared "Dabria."

A smile reached her lips and her eyes twinkled with delight "That is a lovely name, Dabria."

"I have to go now." Adrian said with an apologetic tone as he pushed the baby gently into her arms.

Cradling the baby in her arms, she gave him a silent smile, a smile that held so many emotions and words that couldn't be portrayed even if she was given an eternity to portray them.

"I love you..." She whispered and as she said those words, for presumably the last time, a searing pain spread across her chest and her throat constricted painfully with the tears that she was holding back.

"I'll always love you and Dabria, I'll be watching the both of you." Adrian promised, his eyes were firmed up but they swirled with a tenderness that belied the strength in his eyes.

Anne could only nod in response as she watched him walk out of the cottage and as he retreated from her sight forever, her heart twisted painfully with a deep gash carved into it, a wound that could never heal.

In the quiet moments before a new dawn, a prophecy whispered of a child born under a baleful moon, destined to reshape the very fabric of destiny and challenge the balance of nature that had held sway for so long.

And so, as destiny unfolded and the patterns of fate were rewritten, the pillars of balance trembled, their foundations shaken by the winds of change that swept across the realm.

Anne, with a heart full of love and determination, tended to her peculiar baby girl with care and devotion. From the moment she had first laid eyes on her daughter, her hair as white as freshly fallen snow, her eyes a captivating shade of violet, Anne had known that her child was special, destined for greatness in a world filled with magic and wonder.

As the days turned into weeks and the weeks into months, Anne watched with awe and wonder as her daughter blossomed and grew, her unique qualities becoming more apparent with each passing day. From the moment she first smiled up at her mother with eyes full of curiosity and wonder, Anne knew that her daughter possessed a spirit unlike any other, a spirit that would defy expectations and transcend the limitations of the world around her.

But amidst the beauty and tranquility of their idyllic surroundings, Anne could sense a growing unease, a feeling of uncertainty that lingered in the air like a shadow cast by the setting sun. For she knew that in a world filled with magic and mystery, danger lurked around every corner, waiting to strike when least expected.

And so, with a mother's instinct and a heart full of determination, Anne vowed to protect her daughter at all costs, to shield her from the dangers that lurked in the darkness and to nurture the spark of magic that burned brightly within her soul. With each passing day, she taught her daughter the ways of the world, instilling in her a sense of courage and resilience that would serve her well in the trials and tribulations that lay ahead, while she hid her existence from the knowledge of the humans, for their fear of the unknown led them to dangerous choices.

Together, they laughed and played, their bond growing stronger with each passing moment as they forged a connection that transcended the bounds of time and space. And as Anne watched her daughter grow from a curious baby into a spirited toddler, she knew with certainty that their love would endure, unbreakable and unwavering in the face of whatever challenges the future may hold.

For Anne knew that her daughter was destined for greatness, that she was a child of prophecy, born to fulfill a destiny that would change the course of history. And as she gazed into her daughter's eyes, shining with the light of a thousand stars, she knew that no matter what trials and tribulations lay ahead, they would face them together, united in their love and bound by the ties of family in a medieval fantasy world filled with magic and wonder.
