Poster Girl

Abused and thrown away in a container, Mallory, eighteen years old, thinks that this is it; this is how her life is ending and what a tragic life it has been. But fate isn't done with her yet. Hunter Brown, a low-life gangster, is passing by an alleyway when he is alerted by the cries from a rolled-up carpet thrown in a container. She told him to let her die, but he decided to save her life. This is a novel about generations of secrets of the Wraith family being unfolded and an abused and broken girl who has to run for her life while trying to heal and start over. ________________________________________ Mallory entered the dayroom towards the kitchen with a pile of dirty plates stacked in her hands, causing heavy steps.  Seeking this opportunity, a bored Calvin Wraith tripped Mallory when she passed by where he was sitting while playing Snake on his phone. Bang! Handless, Mallory fell to the floor, and all of the plates lay scattered across the room. Mrs Wraith heard the tumult, and she stormed into the room angrily. "Stupid girl!" Mrs. Wraith scolded with a hard slap across Mollory's face. With ringing ears and tears burning in her eyes, Mallory took a short breath and tried to keep her voice steady as she pleaded, "I am sorry Mrs. Wraith. I will clean this up immediately," Mallory bowed her head and heard Calvin chuckle from the sofa, sitting with a grin, "Yes, you will. I want the room to be spotless within an hour," Mrs. Wraith demanded, shoved Mallory aside, and stormed out. "Why did you do that?" Asked Mallory with a strained voice and gazed at Calvin after Mrs. Wraith shut the door. Calvin got up and stopped inches away from a frightened Mallory. He styled his hair with too much wax, and his grey eyes were taunting her, making her more fearful of him. "Don't forget your place, slave," Calvin hissed and grabbed Mallory by the neck and pushed her up against the wall next to the window," Or do you want me to come by your room later tonight and punish you?" He whispered in Mallory's ear while she fought to breathe. She shook her head, and Calvin grinned before he freed her again. Mallory falls to the floor, tears streaming down her face.  "Clean yourself up. If my father sees you like this..." Calvin didn't finish the sentence; he didn't have to, and the raised eyebrow said it all before he left the room laughing.

Mr. Wyatt

Mr. Wyatt turned off his alarm and rolled out of bed instantly.

There was no time to waste in bed since he rarely slacked.

Mr. Wyatt went on to take his regularly cold morning shower. Although he was fifty years old, he was still looking to be in his 30s, all thanks to the cold showers he had taken for the past twenty years.

The cold water kept him focused and his skin young and firm.

He dried himself with a towel and then went to the kitchen to enjoy his morning coffee naked.

Mr. Wyatt loved to walk around naked and air-dry after a good shower.

________________

Mr. Wyatt, dressed after having coffee, went to his office and turned on his computer. His current case was strange and unclear in certain areas. But he needed the money, so he took it on.

He ran his hand through his thick, brown hair and narrowed his brown almond eyes at the screen. One email from Mr. Wraith had been received, and a young girl's picture was to be seen.

A beautiful girl. But she looked a little startled in the picture, and he could see that she had been harmed by the bruises on her face.

Something about this case was not adding up, and Mr. Wyatt had a nagging feeling that he might be helping a predator find its prey.

________________

Mr. Wraith looked through his pictures to find a decent picture of Mallory to scan in, which Mr. Wyatt required to start the investigation.

But he lacked photos, and the ones he had were of him punishing her, and that would not look good on his end.

But after searching for a while, he found one where she looked decent, scanned it in, and mailed it. Now, he just had to wait for Mallory to be found, and when he got his hands on her again.

Hunter sat in his boss's office and discussed last night's affairs and the upcoming shipment that four of their men would handle tonight.

"Are you sure these four guys can handle this much product?" Duncan asks Hunter as he vaguely feels it could end in a buzz.

"I am sure. But if you want me there, I do, but I trust Blade. With my life," Duncan nods, "Yes, Blade, I trust as well, but I don't trust Eugene. Something about that man..." Hunter stayed quiet, but Duncan was starting to have a bad feeling.

It had been eerily quiet lately from the authorities, who usually would show themselves more or breathe down their necks.

Silence often meant that something was coming, the calm before the storm.

"Have Kelian take this one instead of Eugene. And change the location of the product. Have everyone gather at eleven tonight to inform the new details. Put Trey on tracking Eugene for a few days; I wanna know his every move, especially after I tell him he's out." Hunter nodded. "Okay." "And Hunter? Stay on alert."

"Always, boss!" Hunter replies and leaves the office to rush home to Freckles.

"Who's gonna be here when we both are at that meeting tonight?" Blade asks Hunter, a little worried, "Ana could spare an hour, but then I leave before you guys head out. Stay alerted, Blade. Get the hell out of there if you have a bad feeling!" Blade frowns and chuckles. "Yeah, no worries!" But now Hunter had a bad feeling like Duncan had before.

If something went wrong, Duncan needed Hunter to stay out of this shipment since the gang couldn't risk having both top men at the site.

Mr. Wraith began searching his database for information on the young girl but realized it was impossible. With no last name nor social security number, this would be an impossible girl to find, and he began to wonder why Mr. Wraith was in a hurry to find a girl who was an outcast to society and why she was that, to start with.

Mr. Wyatt was in deep thought, and soon, he found himself changing direction and began to look into Mr. Wraith himself, with a nagging feeling that it could be a dangerous move, with no turning back for him.

Soon, Mr. Wyatt would begin to dig deep and unravel the dark past with buried secrets that never were meant to leave the ground.

________________

It was currently 8 o'clock in the evening and dark outside. September came, the temperature had dropped during the night, and the air was biting Mrs. Wraith's skin as she sat outside in the garden.

She was sipping tea in a nightgown she put on after taking a bath.

You might think that Mrs. Wraith enjoyed her tea while getting some air before bed. But it was more than that because Mrs. Wraith had started planning how she and her son would soon leave her husband for good.

She was aware that it would be a difficult and risky task.

But enough was enough.

Mrs. Wraith needed to think about Calvin's future, and she refused to see him mistreat women the way her husband did, knowing she was not so innocent herself. She knew she had acted horrendously towards the girls over the years and that Calvin had been a little rough, but it was all to end now.

Mr. Wraith walked through the house impatiently and needed a distraction before he would explode. It had been two weeks since Mallory disappeared, and he had been waiting to hear from Mr. Wyatt for five days. It was unacceptable. For the money Mr. Wraith was paying this detective, he demanded that something would be discovered in the case by now. Mr. Wraith closed his fist and began to feel his anger boil.
