Poster Girl

Abused and thrown away in a container, Mallory, eighteen years old, thinks that this is it; this is how her life is ending and what a tragic life it has been. But fate isn't done with her yet. Hunter Brown, a low-life gangster, is passing by an alleyway when he is alerted by the cries from a rolled-up carpet thrown in a container. She told him to let her die, but he decided to save her life. This is a novel about generations of secrets of the Wraith family being unfolded and an abused and broken girl who has to run for her life while trying to heal and start over. ________________________________________ Mallory entered the dayroom towards the kitchen with a pile of dirty plates stacked in her hands, causing heavy steps.  Seeking this opportunity, a bored Calvin Wraith tripped Mallory when she passed by where he was sitting while playing Snake on his phone. Bang! Handless, Mallory fell to the floor, and all of the plates lay scattered across the room. Mrs Wraith heard the tumult, and she stormed into the room angrily. "Stupid girl!" Mrs. Wraith scolded with a hard slap across Mollory's face. With ringing ears and tears burning in her eyes, Mallory took a short breath and tried to keep her voice steady as she pleaded, "I am sorry Mrs. Wraith. I will clean this up immediately," Mallory bowed her head and heard Calvin chuckle from the sofa, sitting with a grin, "Yes, you will. I want the room to be spotless within an hour," Mrs. Wraith demanded, shoved Mallory aside, and stormed out. "Why did you do that?" Asked Mallory with a strained voice and gazed at Calvin after Mrs. Wraith shut the door. Calvin got up and stopped inches away from a frightened Mallory. He styled his hair with too much wax, and his grey eyes were taunting her, making her more fearful of him. "Don't forget your place, slave," Calvin hissed and grabbed Mallory by the neck and pushed her up against the wall next to the window," Or do you want me to come by your room later tonight and punish you?" He whispered in Mallory's ear while she fought to breathe. She shook her head, and Calvin grinned before he freed her again. Mallory falls to the floor, tears streaming down her face.  "Clean yourself up. If my father sees you like this..." Calvin didn't finish the sentence; he didn't have to, and the raised eyebrow said it all before he left the room laughing.

Maddie Louis

Maddie Louis was furious. She tried to win Hunter over by telling him about this man, but he only yelled at her.

After all they been through? She was always there for him before...

But he treated her like crap.

All this yelling after she alerted him about this man? She warned him and cared about him.

But it didn't work, and Maddie was not having it.

She tried to be nice, but it clearly wasn't working.

She was going to have him, if not her. No one else could have him either.

"Hunter?" Mallory said as Hunter passes by the living room.

"Yes, Mall?" Hunter replied and stopped at the doorway.

"When are you coming back?" Mallory asked, somewhat nervous.

She was afraid to be alone again after what happened in the last house.

"Don't worry, Mall. I won't be long, and Blade will return before me!" Mallory sighed. "Okay. But I do not like this."

"Me neither, Mallory. But I need to work. I would love to watch movies and hang with you all day long."

"You would?" Mallory said and smiled.

"I have to go, see you later!" said Hunter and hurried away.

He must get his act together. He can't make comments like that when Mallory lights up like that.

Mallory was stumped by how Hunter made her feel.

She was very drawn to him, and sometimes it felt like he was drawn to her, too.

But why would he? He probably saw her as his sister as Blade did.

No one could romantically see her anymore. She was ruined and ugly.

The scar on her face made her freak.

Mallory's eyes were burning with tears.

She didn't deserve Hunter or Blade.

Mallory had only caused trouble for them.

And she knew Ana's treatments cost Hunter a lot of money.

How is she supposed to pay that back?

The only thing she could do in return was to clean the house and cook for them.

Mrs. Wraith gazed at her reflection in the mirror. The bruising finally wore off, but her body was still sore. She had a hunch that she had broken a rib since her breathing still hurt.

Hollie had been checking on her several times each day, and Mrs. Wraith could tell she was on to something.

Luckily for her, Mr. Wraith had been very occupied lately, leaving her alone most of the time. He even slept in another room or never came home.

Mrs. Wraith knew her husband had several women to go.

Which she was grateful for.

And now Mrs. Wraith needed to get away from here and fulfill the plan she had been concluding for months, even years since it constantly spun in the back of her head.

Mr. Wyatt studied the young couple as they smoked on his porch.

He felt sorry for the boy, but seeing his girl standing by him was soothing. He could see them staying together for the long haul. It was rare nowadays to find.

Mr. Wyatt did have that love once in his life, but she was taken away from him by a very evil illness.

Mr. Wyatt sighed and blinked away a tear. His lovely and highly missed wife. He could never find a woman like her again, but he didn't want that either. He would honor her memory till his last breath.

Mr. Wraith looked around him and gestured for his security men to stand by as he walked up to the man in the alleyway.

"Shadow?" Mr. Wraith asked a little hesitantly. The man nodded his head. He was a few meters away from the darkness of the streetlights.

"Have you got the money and the picture?" He asked in a low and raspy voice. Mr. Wraith felt the hair on his neck rise. He gobbled nervously as he nodded and reached out a small portfolio to the man.

"It's all in there," Mr. Wraith reassured, and the man nodded.

"I will reach out to you when it's done," He said, disappearing out from the alley and down the street.

Mr. Wraith shuddered. He wasn't too easy to intimidate, but that man beheld something raw and vicious that made it crawl inside him.

But now it was done. And now, all he had to do was stay seated, and soon Mallory would be gone forever. Although he still needed to find his ungrateful son and that whore who had poisoned his son's mind.

That filthy girl who dared throw herself over him and take away his son.

She was a selfish homewrecker, and he needed her gone before he got Calvin back.

He signaled to his security detail, and they left the shabby neighborhood behind.

Mr. Wraith needed relief, and it had been some time since he gave it to his wife.

She deserved a little love from him; after all, she had behaved for the past week.

Duncan had been grumbling a great deal since the meeting with Mallory.

She felt familiar to him. Something about her felt like a long-lost memory.

But he seemed unable to grasp his mind around it.

This was driving him crazy. He hated when he couldn't place something in his mind.

"Boss!" Hunter said as he entered the office. "Yes?" Duncan replied and sat down at his desk.

"I have gained a connection to the snakes. I believe we can come to an agreement and unload some products. They have struggled lately since the war with the cobras."

Duncan nodded.

"Good. Arrange a meeting with them." Hunter nodded and turned to leave. "Hunter?"

"Yes?" Hunter replied and turned again.

"Where did you say Mallory was abducted as a kid?" Hunter frowned.

"I never said where, but we found out that she had been abducted in Ireland. Dublin. Why?"

Duncan shook his head. "Never mind."

But he did indeed mind because he spent much time in Dublin in his younger years and fell in love with a woman. Her name was Cordelia.

But she ended the relationship without giving him a reason, and he left for England shortly after and never returned.

Cordelia had long, curly red hair and freckles; the resemblance was remarkable with Mallory.

And Mallory had the same blue eyes as himself.

What if? No. It must all be a coincidence. Right?

Cordelia couldn't have had his baby without telling him?

That would be crazy. But he should look into it. Just to be sure.

Maddie Louis sat leaning back in her rented car parked outside the scorpion's warehouse.

She pulled down her hat and kept her eyes on the building.

She had been at Hunter's house moments earlier but found out he had moved to another address. And Maddie needed that address... She had it all planned out.

"Hey Calvin... There something I need to tell you..." Calvin gazed at Maria with a questionable look. "What, babe?" Maria took a deep breath. She was scared of his reaction.

"Well. There is a slight chance that we might become three..." Calvin frowned, "Three? We are three. Me, you and Mr. Wyatt?" Calvin replied, and Maria sighed. "That WE, you and me, will become three. As a family..." Maria mumbled, "What?" And then Calvin's eyes widened.

"Are you pregnant??" Maria nodded. Calvin was shocked.
