Chapter 22

Jake looks at his brother and snorts, "Did you just scream like a girl?" He asks holding back the laughter back.

Luna calls June, "Force it to split some more, if it's starving after its transformation maybe it's like us. Over using its powers will knock it right out."

Kai looks at Luna from above that's exactly what he was thinking the whole time, but it's too risky, "I second that, I think it might work."

Mira picks up a Comms, "It's not an Infected animal. Luna is right. Wear it out."

Lily bites her lip not believing her daughter. She went through too much pain pursuing Avalon and Leigh, if the images in her mind are right ... She shakes her head, she can't get her hopes up. Not this time.

"Hey, do you think Luna can see the future or something?" Dodge asks watching everyone attack from all sides until they are out numbered

"No, but Jet and Jake I think so, they don't see it like us, they just feel it. Chronos described it like that too, a feeling but it's easy to brush off."

Dodge spins in her chair, "I hope I get a time power one day."

Mira smiles, "I feel flattered. I wish I had a cooler power. Like super strength. I would be out there not in here."

"Maybe after Toya verifies if you are compatible with Luna you can use her power. She's been up there for so long." Dodge points at Luna protecting Aira.

"Oh, you're right. I hadn't noticed that. I hope I'm compatible with June. I think it's a given I'm compatible with Chronos." Mira says.

Lily looks at the two girls having a casual chat, she thinks she should take a page out of their book and stop stressing out.

Luna notices Sarah going to rescue the passed out 12 visitors.

"Activate the shield!" Chronos orders Aira.

Aira does as commanded and the shield surrounds the city that used to be known as Stark.

"What was that for?" Dodge stands up glaring at his Comms.

"If it's not an Infected than it has been surviving by eating Infected animals. If it doesn't get infected despite that, it might be a cure to infections. We need it." Chronos says constantly seeing flashes of an Orange vial with the cure.

Lily's eyes widen, "It's immune to the toxin. We could generate a vaccine using Thomas's power. The age of the Infected could finally end."

Bella calls Luna, "What we need is to sedate it. Everyone needs the thing I gave you do not combine it with your healing."

Luna frowns, there are now 16 tigers.

She wishes for the case with 30 of the sedatives. She gives 2 to Aira, "We can only surprise them once. Get 2 at the same time." She says.

They crouch down and wait for an opening, when two tigers charge towards Toya, Luna saves his life by stabbing them at the same time.

"That's twice now you save you my life. That's not how this is supposed to go." Toya says looking at Luna.

She runs away trying to fly but she can't, "I can't get back in the sky, Aira be careful." Luna says worried about him.

"I'll fly around and gather the dead infected so we can portal them out. Are you sure they're all dead?" Aira asks scared one might come to life and bite him.

Colin nods, "One hundred percent dead." He gives Aira the thumbs up.

Thomas installs the last nano battery and gives Craig and Jacob a thumbs up, "Right. The purifier should also detox the pipes, but I can't start the machine yet, a pipe is broken. We'll need to go outside and patch it up." He says.

Craig looks through the walls, "Not yet, we'll have to stay inside. There's more of that infected beast outside. I had no idea there were so many."

Thomas nods, "Understood, I'll double check my work than. Tell me when they're done."

Craig looks and Aira is gathering infected that didn't turn to dust, "They have the shield up. It really covers a large distance."

Thomas smiles, "If only I could build a device that could manipulate time. All this patching up here and there is going to be more problematic in the future." He says talking to himself.

Aira surprises two tigers by injecting them with the sedative.

When the Tigers pay attention to the sky Kai injects them as fast as he can.

Everyone runs around the city waiting for the sedative to kick in. Hiding and running away from the tigers.

The woman with the run away husband looks out the window seeing Rex hide from a tiger. He turns around hearing growling and he can smell bad breath.

The Tiger pounces on Rex and he opens a portal.

"Cool." Her son says looking out the window wearing a cape, "Real super heroes."

Rex notices them and moves from the house but it was a bad idea. He portals away in case the tigers portal inside the house.

"Tell people to step away from the windows. Everyone evacuate to the bunker now. If the tigers see you they can open portals to your location." Rex says sprinting for his life and hiding.

Dodge turns to the larger Comms phone to reach everyone at the same time.

People from other camps will be able to hear this, but that is not something to worry about.

"Murasaki speaking. Citizens in Murasaki camp, step away from the windows. I repeat step away from your windows the beast infected can portal into your house if it sees you."

"Beast infected? What the hell kind of infected is that?" Someone asks.

Chronos helps Sarah and Sharon with the people they just rescued, "No major injuries. We need to wake them up, they are starved and severely dehydrated. The baby is okay though, Bella can you take care of him just to be sure."

Bella surrounds the baby in her healing cloud, "Too much toxin in his body. The blue mist dealt with most of it. They're lucky."

Chronos offers them healing water, "No food yet Dodge. It'll be a few days before they can eat something. Give the mother some food, I think they survived by giving all their share of food to her."

Dodge nods giving her a plate of food and going back with the other plates

Chronos grabs fruit and gives the others an apple each.

"Need help?" Mira asks.

"No, Bella is the only one that can help from here."

Luna hides with June when she finds him in a burst water pipe, "Next time you hide, bring me with you, and stop breathing so heavily that's how I noticed you." She says.

Eventually the tiger slows down and the copies disappear.

"Good, the sedative is working. Start heading back to the camp." Brandon says.

"Toya what are you doing?" Colin asks when he's going the wrong way.

"Luna didn't hear that. She went this way." He runs looking for her jumping over the pipe a few times, "Luna where are you? The order is t ..." Toya jumps into the pipe hearing an infected come his way.

"Ow!" Luna yelps when Toya keeps shoving her violently to get out of the light.

A tiger growls and shrinks to get in.

June screams and bursts the entire pipe and everyone inside making a big hole with a water explosion.

Luna is unconscious from the impact.

Toya is looking at June confused by his power, "How are you so powerful yet a coward?" He looks around and picks up Luna.

June hovers over her to see if she's okay.

"Get your face out of her face she's mine." Toya says shoving June's face away.

June looks at Toya with blue eyes, "Get us out of here!!!!"

Toya jumps and nods opening a portal.

They enter the room and Toya rushes Luna to Bella.

She's bleeding from landing on a sharp rock.

"Bella!!" June runs ahead sprinting scared, "I'm sorry. I freaked out and my power just ..."

Bella rushes to Luna's side.

Chronos hugs June, "No one blames you for this. She once nearly took Toya's head off scared. No one can relate to that more than we do. It's bound to happen a few more times before your out of control power is in control."

June looks at a Chronos so confused, that didn't make him feel better at all, "What?" He sniffles too confused to keep crying.

Toya sighs, "You need more training. You're too overpowered to be so clumsy with your ability."

June nods, "I'm really sorry I hurt your girlfriend."

Everyone looks at June and laughs.

"Oh? Toya? How come I didn't hear about this first." Chronos teases.

"Stop that." Toya looks away embarrassed.

Colin observes as the tiger falls asleep, "is it just me or it's much, much smaller." He takes carful steps to see what is left and his jaw drops, "You have got to be kidding me. That's all it was all along?"

Kai pats it as it gets sleepy.

The Tiger turned back into a cub and he holds it in his arms like a newborn baby.

Everyone goes back inside and Kai rests it on a comfortable bed.

"Mission accomplished." Colin announces.

Lily smiles, "It's safe to go outside now." She announces to everyone in the bunker that was murmuring about Luna bleeding.

"Really? It's over?" Susan asks.

"It was a success." Lily clarifies.

Brandon removes the shield around the mall happy that he can stretch around from now on.

Everyone goes outside and runs around the street like headless chicken.

"How far does it go?" Anita asks looking up.

"Covers half the city after the river. We couldn't stretch it any further than that." Colin responds

Toya passes out first and the rest of the teens follow.

"I'll handle it." Bella says smiling at the teens that went way passed their limits for this mission.

"I must be dreaming." Kevin says after coming back with Thomas who just patched up the mess June made and turned on the water.

Everyone sees black mist coming from underground.

"The purifier is detoxing the water pipes, in a few days we'll have clean water. Adding healing essence to the mixture made it potent." Thomas reports.

"I feel so sick." Rin says holding her stomach.

"I think we're inhaling the smoke. Everyone inside, it will take a few more days before we can stay outside like this." Colin reports.

Everyone goes inside avoiding the black smoke.
