Chapter 2:

Chapter 2: The Stubborn Challenge

As the adrenaline rush subsided, I looked up at the person who had covered my mouth. His face was partially hidden in the dim light, but I could make out the contours of his strong jawline and the determination in his eyes.

"Miss, please calm down," he said in a firm yet reassuring tone. "I'm Roi, your new bodyguard. Your parents hired me to ensure your safety."

I stared at him, trying to process the situation. Roi didn't seem like a threat, but my heart still pounded with fear and uncertainty.

"Bodyguard?" I repeated, feeling a surge of defiance. "I don't need a bodyguard. And I definitely don't need someone invading my privacy and scaring me half to death."

Roi sighed, his expression unwavering. "I understand you're upset, Miss. But your safety is my priority. Your parents entrusted me with this responsibility, and I intend to fulfill it."

I crossed my arms, refusing to back down. "Well, I don't want you here. And I won't make things easy for you."

Roi's gaze softened, but his resolve remained firm. "I understand you're upset, Miss Lee Anne. But please give me a chance to prove myself. I'm here to protect you, whether you like it or not."

I glared at him, feeling a mixture of anger and frustration. "Fine. But don't expect me to make things easy for you. You'll regret ever crossing paths with me."

Roi nodded, unfazed by my challenge. "I'll be ready for whatever you throw at me, Miss. But please remember, I'm here to keep you safe."

With that, Roi took a step back, giving me some space. I watched him warily, unsure of what to make of this new addition to my life.

As the hours passed, I made sure to test Roi's patience at every turn. I ignored his attempts at conversation, brushed off his offers to help, and even went out of my way to disobey his instructions.

But no matter how stubborn I was, Roi remained steadfast in his duty. He kept a watchful eye on me, anticipating my every move and ensuring that I stayed out of harm's way.

As the day turned into night, I found myself begrudgingly impressed by Roi's dedication and professionalism. Despite my best efforts to push him away, he refused to give up on me.

And as I lay in bed that night, I couldn't help but wonder if maybe, just maybe, having Roi by my side wouldn't be such a bad thing after all.
