Cesar looked at Magby training and then back at Caleb, nodding. "That's a good mindset. Always stay cautious and be prepared. Those are a foundation trainers should have."
Caleb nodded approvingly, he knew that of course. Just look at Ash and his gang, without plot armor the stupid main character in the series would've died hundred times over.
Their training so hard not because they wanted to become the best, nor was it because they wanted to prove something.
But, they trained hard because they are preparing for unexpected things to come up. To become a top trainer was just a goal to Caleb. He shed all those sweat and blood from the training so that he could protect himself, those precious to him and his beliefs.
This was his mindset. The mindset which he developed through the experience from the cruel incident three years ago. He don't want to feel that powerless and helplessness he had at that moment again.
'No... I will never, I'll guarantee it.' He solidified his conviction as he thought of that day where the young girl was left orphaned after that attack.
Although, they wouldn't have been training this hard without one important characteristic that Caleb and Magby shared, self-discipline.
Caleb had showed self-discipline through actions to his starter pokemon ever since he had hatched.
Which was a good thing, fire-types normally were very competitive and easy to anger. Caleb used this to his advantage and made Magby very inclined on the prospect of training.
Because of this, Magby would even feel uncomfortable if it didn't train for a while. Which was counter-productive to Caleb.
Seeing his pokemon putting so much dedication to training, he felt that as a person he should work harder than it since he have a responsibility of being it's trainer.
Since it was so willing to train they had to constantly adjust their training efficiency.
"Not bad. It seems that the pokemon I gave you trained really hard." Cesar complimented as he eyed Magby training.
"Anyway, I called you here not just for training, but I also wanna talk to you about something Caleb."
"How's the connection of your Mental Integration Bond with your Magby, child." Cesar asked.
Back when Caleb was participating on one of his school activities he and Magby had formed a Mental Integration Bond.
Back then, Cesar had no clue of what to come for it. Caleb was so young, 8-years of age yet he unknowingly achieved a feat which trainers that are stuck on the peak of the 'Four Great Walls' were trying so hard to grasp, for years they tried but still failed. But a eight-year old had done it?
If it was made known the entire pokemon world would be flabbergasted.
The 'Four Great Walls' is a phase that seperated trainers from 'Integration Master Trainers', four great walls which signified four ranks that roughly determined a trainer's pokemon and identity. From lowest to highest; Rookie Trainer, Advanced Trainer, Veteran Trainer and Ace Trainer.
For an Ace Trainer to advance to the first rank of the 'Integration Phase', which is 'Elite Trainer'. The most significant requirement was to form their 'Mental Integration Bond' with their respective pokemon.
This was very difficult to do, countless Ace Trainers were stuck at their rank because they haven't formed a MIB with their pokemons. Because of this their Pokemons would be stuck at a level where one can only continue to improve when their trainer and the pokemon could connect their spiritual bridge.
Of course, there are also some special method to grasp Mental Integration Bond with the help of various recourses, but not anyone was able to buy one, for the reason that it cost so much of one's fortune.
Over the years, Caleb slowly began to realize what happened to him wasn't because of the bond between him and Magby. But, because of a 'trigger' that made them connect by force.
Caleb has some suspicions, and majority of them are related to the golden seed in his head. But he had no evidence so he couldn't be too sure.
"I think it's in a good state. Seeing that it didn't brought any harm to me at the moment." Caleb replied.
"Hmmm, I think you're alright." Cesar said. "Just continue on meditating okay? And try to always be calm, your state of mind could sometimes affect the bridge between you and your pokemon."
Caleb nodded in response.
"Additionally, don't try anything stupid and left it, take it as if it doesn't exist. You're too young anyways, training integration methods is too dangerous for you and your current pokemon. But, with time you will surely be able to showcase the benefit of achieving this earlier on than most."
"Morever, as you grow and your mentality expands, the integration between you and Magby would be nurtured because of it. So even if you would do nothing, it would still strengthen itself within you and Magby."
"Integration methods..." Caleb fell into deep thought.
"Since it is impossible to train it for now. But, would grow with my mentality and Magby's. Then does it mean that the higher knowledge and information my brain accumulate, the better naturally nurtured it is by doing so?" Caleb asked
"It means that your mentality would expand by the accumulated knowledge you have in your brain. Although I'm not sure, by logic then it is feasible." Cesar said. "Even though, it's a little perfunctory..."
If that's the case then Caleb should study and gather information about various subject that should gain his interest. Doing so would be very beneficial to his learning and at the same time could possibly nurture his mentality, gaining crystalized knowledge that could expand his mental programing for knowledge.
Killing two birds with one stone.
"Caleb, I have something to inform you. I'm certain this would very much pique your interest..." Cesar said with a mysterious look on his face.
Caleb raised an eyebrow, face eager to listen to what his grandfather would say.
