The last match was concluded pretty swiftly since Evans no longer had any motivation to try his hardest. He was more worried about his Onix's wellbeing than a battle that was going to end up with him giving away a badge anyways. Even if he no longer tried as hard, that didn't mean that he simply just stood still, though.
With Bastiodon's high DEF and SP DEF, it still took Lancelot a considerably long time to whittle down its HP. Aside from that, with moves like [Protect (M)], [Endure (M)], and [Iron Defense (M)], the tanky boy became more like an impenetrable fortress that moved on four legs! Sadly, also like a fortress, the beastly shield was practically unmoving with its slow speed and became a sitting duck for the agile assassin!
After another [Shadow Sneak (M)] followed by a close range [Ember (M)], the wall-faced pokemon fell under its own weight and had circles twirling in its eyes. Recalling his pokemon, Jax already knew that this would be the outcome when Bastiodon first graced the field. Steel-type against his Fire-type Lancelot plus the massive difference in speed made the whole battle a joke.
The only thing left now was to receive his badge but when Evans threw it over, the badge was accompanied by something else. Confused, Jax looked at the Gym leader for clarification since perhaps it was a mistake.
"Wipe that look off your face. I promised that if you won against my Onix, I would reward you with a prize. Even if I found your methods excessive, a win is a win and I keep my words. That prize rightfully belongs to you." Saying his part, Evans turned around to leave so that he could get his pokemons looked at. "Oh, right. Congratulations, boy. No matter what anyone says in the papers tomorrow, I, as a Gym leader fully acknowledge that you are a worthy trainer. That veteran Rock badge is proof that you are a deserving trainer that everyone should keep an eye out for but well, I figured I should say my piece as well."
With the badge finally in his hands, Jax closed his eyes and savored the moment. Just as he was relishing in his moment, a familiar chime rang in his mind and that oh so mechanical voice that had a more life-like tone beeped.
'Ding! It is I, Metsys! Congrats on finishing all of your system generate quests, Jax! As of right now, you currently have 1086 SP. The old missions will be deleted and the new ones will be loaded in. You can check them out at any time!'
Before Jax had a chance to take a look at his new quests, the reporters had already made their way down from the stands and were starting to surround him with microphones in hand pointed his way. One after another, they all barraged him with questions before he even had time to answer one much less take a breath.
After that hellish ordeal, Jax and Leon rode back to the academy in complete silence, each one with different thoughts running through their minds. When they arrived back at the pearly steel gates, Leon informed him that he wanted to see Jax in his office before he went off to do whatever it was he was planning on doing.
Jax had an idea about what his master wanted to ask him so he fully prepared himself to semi-explain the theory behind his pokemon's special move. Even if Jax wanted to fully explain it, he didn't even know where to start! How was Vioarr able to unleash such powerful moves? How did those moves even combine? Why was Vioarr the only pokemon out of his whole party and the entire world that could combine moves and make a completely new one? These were all questions he wanted answers to as well!
Knock, knock!
"Come in!"
Walking into the office that he had been in that morning, Jax was greeted by Leon after both of them ran little errands that they needed to take care of first. Once in the office's confines, Jax noticed that the two were not the only ones present. Aside from Sonia who was basically Leon's secretary at this point, two other people was sitting on one of the couches. Taking a seat on the opposite couch next to Sonia, Jax just kept silent since he was sure his master would explain the situation to him.
"As you can see, we have guests today. Jax, I want to introduce to you to my two fellow Guardians and friends I have known for quite some time now. On your left is the eccentric Galloway. On your right is the loose-lipped Quickantel. Galloway, Quickantel, this is Jax, my student and the son of the mother you will be finding clues about starting today."
Observing the two, Jax had many thoughts swirling in his mind. First, the man on his left, Galloway, was a tanned-skin version of the Hulk! Bulging muscles, veiny arms, ripped sleeves shirt…and pants. The only thing out of place was the tattoo on his left shoulder that said MOM in a heart with an arrow through it…
The person on his right was even more weird. Dressed in a gothic-style black dress, the woman had black finger nails that matched the color of her lips. Her dark hair was cut in a way that reminded him of pre-teen Justin Bieber and at first glance, Jax almost mistaken her for a boy if not for…well, for her well-endowed 'assets' in the chest department.
As he was staring at the two and making up his own observations, the two were staring back at the boy with the same intensity. Galloway was the first to break the silent stare off.
Lifting his arms up, Galloway flexed his muscles like a typical bodybuilder. Before Jax could comment about ask about more pressing matters, the muscley thing picked him up by the armpits and…spun him around in a circle!???
"HAHAHA! The child reminds me of my dear granddaughter back home! She loves it when I do this for her! HAHAHA!" After that traumatizing experience, Jax was laid on the couch with his head on Sonia's lap while the grownups conversed.
