Pokemon: Road To Ascension

After dying in a truck accident, Dan was transmigrated into the world of Pokemon. Unlike what the Anime portrays it to be, the world of Pokemon is a dangerous world where many will get harmed. This story is about Dan becoming the very best and ascending to Godhood. (This is an AU, so every random BS is now cannon in this fanfic)

Small Orphanage

"Good morning, Mother Sydney." Both Simon and I said, greeting the caretaker of this orphanage.

Despite calling her a mother, Mother Sydney is someone in her fifties. Part of her hair was already turning, and age was starting to catch up.

"Good morning, Dan and Simon. Breakfast is made. Simon, could the two of you call Dave and Alvin?" She spoke politely, as that was the person she was.

Listening to Mother Sydney, Simon returned to our room begrudgingly, not wanting to do so. Simon has beef with the two tricksters, and being the youngest, he is often picked on by them.

Earlier, when I called this place an orphanage, it was a small place where only eight children could be housed. Mother Sydney had taken eight children upon herself because she enjoyed the company of children.

I had heard that before Mother Sydney could have kids, her husband had died pretty early to a Pokemon, and faithful to her husband, she refused to take on another significant other, leaving her to this.

This was also one of the reasons Mother Sydney had never taken a Pokemon into the house. She secretly despises them.

"Dan, could we have a moment to talk?" With a dampened mood, I had an inkling of what she wanted to say.

"Of course." Agreeing with what Mother Sydney said, she led the way out of the house and into the yard.

"Do you have everything prepared?" Knowing that I would go on my journey, Mother Sydney asked, ensuring I had everything I needed.

Before buying my Pokemon, my predecessor bought everything he needed for traveling before he bought his Pokemon. He didn't want to spend everything on his Pokemon and go broke, realizing that he would have to find another way to earn money, either tediously or dangerously.

"I have everything I need. You have checked what I bought. Mother Sydney, I know you're worried about me, but I promise I will be careful." Trying to stop Mother Sydney from worrying, the Pidoves around the orphanage started to squeak like a wake-up call to the city.

Castelia is one of Unova's largest cities and the home of the Castelia Gym. With Burgh as the gym leader, the town was safe from criminals. Castelia is also famous for its Casteliacones.

As a resident of this place, I hadn't tasted one, which was depressing when you think about it. If this were a game, it would be where Game Freaks HQ is. However, the HQ was replaced with a random business model.

"I know, but do you have to leave? The rest of the children will be sad when you do. Especially Simon and Jen." All I did was shake my head in rejection.

Jen was one of the children that Mother Sydney kept here. The orphan has eight children, four male and half female.

"Mother, as much as I would like. I know you have problems with finances. Setting out on my own will lessen the burden, and if I'm lucky, I could also help with the finances." Of course, this was to make Mother Sydney more relaxed and stop her from convincing me.

The orphanage we were in was extremely small for an orphanage. With only eight children being the maximum capacity, it was more of a family house.

Feeding eight children had put a lot of dents in Mother Sydney's bank, and my predecessor had stumbled across this. This was another reason he wanted to start his journey quickly.

"Is that so?" She sighed, knowing that I had made my choice.

"You know how much I wanted this. It's my dream." Mother Sydney often asks about the dreams of the people of this orphanage. My predecessor had the dream of being a Pokemon master, one of the common dreams many children have.

Seeing that this discussion was over, we returned to the dining room, where everyone is here.

"Good morning, everyone," I said in my usual tone as if it were normal.

The mood at the table was more or less depressing, as everyone knew this would might be our last meal in a while. Being the oldest at this table, other than Mother Sydney, I was also given the most responsibility. My predecessor and I may be petty, but we're still reliable when needed.

Breakfast was a few slices of bread coated with honey made by Combee. The honey made by Pokemon was much better than the ones on Earth. Unlike the sticky feeling of the honey made by Pokemon, the honey made by Combee was something akin to liquid, drinkable if one wanted, without leaving any terrible aftertaste.

"Dan, do you really have to leave?" Sensing that I was about to leave, Jen tugged on my shirt.

Jen is a girl two years younger. Since transferring to this orphanage, she has stuck to me like a clingy sister. Tears came out of her eyes. All I could do was sigh.

"I won't be leaving yet. Once I pick up my Pokemon, I will return and let you all see it." Patting her head, I had managed to calm her down.

Who would have thought I would have to experience such a melodramatic setting after experiencing a truck ramming into me? How I wish emotional problems could be washed away like nothing.

"Then could I follow you when you choose your Pokemon? Pretty please?" Hearing what Jen had said, the others also wished to join.

"Sorry, but when I pick my Pokemon, I don't want any distractions. When I return, I will get all of you gifts." Truthfully, I didn't want to form any connections with these kids. I may have inherited my predecessor's memory, but I didn't take much of my predecessor's emotional value.

My rejection saddened the kids, but their expressions brightened when they heard I would give them something when returning.

After breakfast, I went to the bathroom to clean myself and prepare for the day. I have to say, I was looking great for a teen.

I have the appearance of Proto Arthur from Fate, with Emiya Shirou's eyes. If I didn't know any better, maybe I was their child, and because of Kaleidoscope, I was now in this world.

That didn't happen, right? I told myself with a nervous chuckle.
