Ayuna timelines

"Why is my life so- so.." I couldn't find the words to express my anger, my sadness. I can only shout utter nonsense at myself. If only I kept my mouth shut, if only I had moved on.

Thoughts like that rushed through my mind..

"I told you, didn't I?" Yu sighed as he leaned back staring at the dark night sky, butterfrees flying by the moon, sparkling glitter trailing behind them.

"Take care of your trauma, of all your problems. Or you'll end up down the path of one of the worst timelines."

"You never explained that to me by the way, what do you mean timelines! What is all of this!" I shouted at him, my hands still open to catch my falling tears.

"You were having beef with Arceus back in Unova, what even are you??"

Yu started to laugh, it's genuine, not forced, not sarcastic. His voice echoed through the woods though for others he didn't even make a sound. I sighed in frustration waiting on his response.

"I'm just Yu, your guide to save this world, I really am nothing special." He smiled whole heartedly, wiping a tear from his eye.

"Yeah? Well," I muttered, turning back to the forest.

"That time, I got those powers to fight Giovanni, It was you wasn't it,"

There was an awkward silence between us, though at this point I didn't even care I just awaited his answer,

"Yeah, that was me."

"Please," I muttered under my breath,

"Tell me what the hell is going on," My own hands clasped together, the grip around them tightening as I awaited my answer.

"Well," Yu muttered, his tone a bit more serious, scratching his cheek nervously as he spoke.

"You probably died a lot, on your way to this point."

I nodded, remembering all the times I died. The pain felt so real, breaking my neck, dying from exhaustion. I don't know how im still alive-

"Well, you actually never died, but at the same time you did,"

I raised my eyebrow at Yu as he explained, not having a clue what this all meant so far.

"There's other Ayuna's in other timelines and all of your memories are linked," He raised his hands, all ten of his fingers up in the air,

"If one Ayuna died, in a certain place his memories will rush into you the moment you reached the same point." He puts down a finger resembling a fallen Ayuna.

"And by memories, that includes how they died, a traumatizing event that affects both of you."

My pupils shrunk as I realized, looking at my hands as they trembled in fear.

"So that means-" I muttered to myself.

"Yeah," Yu interrupted me as if completing my sentence.

"With everything that happened to you, this- Right now-"

"Is the best timeline your journey has to offer."

"There are so many timelines, worse than yours, so many possibilities, so many stories to tell. Some died right away the minute they were born, some lost their best friend to a rampaging ursaring, some fought your best friend and got impaled by the tail of a Dragapult. Some even died, paralyzed and eaten a life by Ratattas."

"Even as we speak, right now, an Ayuna is dying, cursing the name of the god that brought it here."

"So try not to get discouraged, ok?"

I didn't know if that was meant to make me feel better, or worse…

Zorua watched me from the window upstairs as I sat alone, Yu invisible to her eyes. Quietly she whined, her ears down and her tail between her legs. Seeing me like this, it was too much.

The sun rose once more over us, the morning breeze carrying the scent of early morning rain, Pidgeys flying majestically in the sky. Mindy waited outside of the pokecenter, playing with the straps on her trainer's bag before finally hearing the doors open.

"Oh hey Chloe!" she said with a smile waving at her,

Chloe walked out of the pokecenter, her eyes puffy and red from crying all night, her hair a mess and her lips still quivering.

"Woah, are you ok??" Mindy asked raising her hands to comfort her but Chloe walked straight past her, not even batting an eye.

"Don't worry about it," Chloe's voice was hoarse from all the crying, bawling her eyes out that night not forgetting what I had said.

"Oh, uh- where are you going! Isn't Ayuna coming??" She ran to catch up with Chloe, their feet splashing the morning dews all over the forest as they marched on.

I watched from the window of the Pokecenter as I packed up to leave tomorrow, this way, by the time I get there, she's already long gone on her own adventure. I sighed, leaning down to put my stuff in my trainer's back, Zorua looked up at me with a sad look, her tail still down after last night's squabble. With a forced smile, I pet her head gentle In hopes that it would cheer her up, but it didn't.

She crawled over to her pokeball on my waist, pushing the button to be sent inside.

"Even my own pokemon hates me now," I muttered to myself.

I sat on the floor, my hand frantically scratching through my black hair, tears welling up in my eyes.

"What's wrong with me!" I shouted, the tears I tried so desperately to repress fell to the wooden floor.

"Why am I like this-"
