What is a Trainer?

Weedle lay on Natsu's shoulders, a little distressed, and stared at him. It thought that Natsu spent too much money on it, but just bought a pair of cheap clothes for himself. It knew exactly how hard earning money was. How many times had Natsu been ridiculed and rejected while getting a job.

For it, it can be said that Natsu had paid everything to his fullest ability.

"Don't feel bad for me. You have to work hard to grow, which is the biggest reward for me." Natsu smiled and took out a crystal clear Pokéblock from the exquisitely packaged box.

"Weedle!" Weedle nodded firmly, looking at the Pokéblock in his palm, swallowing quietly.

Feeling its greed, Natsu laughed even more. He deliberately picked up a Pokéblock and aimed it at the sun.

The sun shone through the transparent dark green Pokéblock, and there were no impurities visible to the naked eye. The Intermediate Rank Pokéblock exuded a faint fragrance mixed with a faint stench.

"Tsk, is this the Pokéblock of Bug Type energy combined with Poison Type energy?"

His voice was deliberately elongated, and out of the corner of his eye he glanced at Weedle. He saw it staring straight at the Pokéblock, as if it couldn't wait but didn't dare to say anything. It was actually kind of cute. Only the reflection of the Pokéblock remained in its bead-like eyes.

"Okay, I'll stop teasing you, eat it"

He chuckled and handed the Pokéblock to Weedle.

"!!" Weedle exclaimed. Its tail twitched, hurriedly took the Pokéblock, and immediately ate it in small bites on his shoulders.

After eating a few bites, it couldn't help but moan a few times.

Seeing it so satisfied, Natsu felt relieved, but still reminded appropriately: "Since you have eaten the Pokéblock, you must properly digest it and absorb all the energy so as not to waste it. So starting today, our training tasks are going to increase in intensity, so be mentally prepared."

He had been restrained in his previous training because he was worried that excessive training would overdraw Weedle's weak body.

Now, he can step up his training with Weedle.

"Wee!"

Weedle hurriedly answered with its head down, not sure if Natsu had listened to what he said. Natsu shook his head helplessly.

Back in the club,

Anna, who was polishing her nails at the front desk, saw him holding multiple bags, and laughed and said jokingly, "Natsu, I just gave you your advance yesterday, so did you spend it all today?"

"Yeah," Natsu said while nodding in greeting.

"Then you have to restrain yourself, after all.." she glanced at Weedle on his shoulder.

"Hmm."

Her insinuation about Weedle doesn't mean anything.

A lot of things are not necessarily correct from others' understanding and perception. Only by not caring about other people's eyes and upholding your determination and perseverance can you do things that others can't.

After getting back to his room, he put his things in order. He loaded up a few Pokéblocks and took Weedle to the training room.

Just ran a few laps around the training room, and after the warm-up, it was time for the real training. But Anna found him again. This time she came with Ian, the junior high school boy yesterday who was clamoring to beat Natsu around the clock.

Seeing Natsu who insisted on training when there was no sparring session while sweating from his head, Anna still admired him a little from the bottom of her heart.

A hardworking person always makes a good impression on others.

"0451 is right here, I won't bother you anymore." After Annie finished speaking, she closed the door and left.

"Natsu, I'm here again, are you guys preparing for training?" Ian said in a familiar tone.

"Yeah." Natsu replied softly, "What do you need today? Battle or Training?"

"Hey, we're here to train together."

Following Natsu's words, Ian summoned Bulbasaur, looking eager to join.

"Bulba~saur~"

As soon as Bulbasaur came out, it saw Weedle and immediately ran to it, screaming softly.

"Wee-dle!" Weedle greeted it too.

After yesterday's battle and training, Weedle and Bulbasaur got to know each other.

Just as Ian admires Natsu, who also devotes himself to training and leads by example, Bulbasaur also admires Weedle, who trains several times harder.

"Then we're going to start, you can try to follow along, or follow what I taught you yesterday."

Having said that, Natsu ignored Ian and continued Weedle's training.

"Okay, okay, you can do whatever you want."

Ian had no pretense of being a member at all and waved his hand casually. His eyes rolled, and he looked like he was thinking about something. Natsu didn't care, after the warm-up, the first step of this round of training was still working on move accuracy.

Improving the mastery of existing moves had always been deemed as the top priority by Natsu.

There are many moves that Pokémon can learn, some are automatically learned as Pokémon grow, some require special training to be able to learn, and some are derived from the inheritance of Pokémon, and are thus called Egg Moves.

Anyways, comprehending a new move is difficult. It's even harder to master an already learned move.

In a limited time, he didn't want to pursue how many different kinds of moves the Pokemon had learned. One move that is well integrated and suits the fighting style of the Pokemon can, often than not, play a greater role that two or three unskilled moves.

Weedle doesn't have to trouble with the number of moves it has, so it's more about mastering the moves that it has previously learned. This is a cumulative process and cannot be accomplished overnight.

The second step was the development of moves that can be learned by Weedle, and Natsu put the first target on 'Bug Bite'.

Even though it's a Pokémon of Bug Type and Poison Type, Bug Type is still the main Attribute. Without a Bug Type move, it would be difficult for Weedle to play a greater role.

Now that it ate Pokéblock, in theory, it should be able to sense Bug Type energy faster and learn it.

The first round of training was soon over.

Natsu and Ian were panting while leaning against the wall of the training room, watching Weedle and Bulbasaur, still full of energy, frolicking on the field.

"Natsu, why are you training with your Pokémon? Isn't the Trainer's job to just command during the battle?" Ian raised his doubts.

Natsu let out a long breath, wiped the sweat from his forehead, glanced at the lively Weedle, and nodded secretly.

The effect of the Pokéblock had begun to manifest; Weedle had more energy and could adapt to higher-intensity training.

At the same time he replied: "The reason why Trainers are called Trainers is that they are a group of people who have Pokémon and can command Pokémon. The term 'Trainer' does not refer to a person, but to people and Pokémon as one, and if you separate the Pokémon from the people, then the term 'Trainer' is somewhat inappropriate.

Training with the Pokémon is not just about getting the Pokémon a better sense of identity. It is also for the Trainer to have a deeper understanding of the Pokémon's status, habits and personality. Only when a Pokémon's various conditions are taken into account, can he make the correct judgment from the Pokémon's point of view in a timely manner when commanding battles and make precise decisions. So, do you understand now?"

Ian nodded thoughtfully, "Isn't it something that Teachers often say, look at it from a Pokémon's point of view? Thinking and solving problems together makes the Pokémon better fit with the Trainer."

"Great summary." Natsu agreed.

Ian had an expression of being enlightened and was just about to say something, but they suddenly heard:

"Bulbasaur!!"

Bulbasaur cried out in pain.

It's so awkward to include Weedle in conversations. Because, when I try to partial names, it always comes to 'Wee' or 'Weed', so I always have to write the whole name.
