It took a while for Kevin to process the abnormalities that happened, and the Porygon2 floating around him wasn't helping in any sense, especially when it constantly asked questions in a freaky robotic voice. After coming to terms with it, he allowed the cyber-Pokémon to do what it was created to do: explore the cyberspace. Kevin left Porygon2 with unrestricted access to the computer as he asked it to enlarge its database.
One may ask if letting a sapient Pokémon with the ability to jump into any computer and bypass almost all firewalls, hence having complete freedom in the internet space, was safe. Well, when Kevin woke up the next morning, what instantly alarmed him was his normally carefree father, who was completely serious as he watched what seemed to be some breaking news.
"…Earlier this day, the National Intelligence Center (NIS), in collaboration with The Kanto Security Service (KSS) and Interpol, launched a large-scale search for a rogue hacker who has breached highly classified servers and is currently on the loose. Statements by KSS say that this is the largest and most in-depth information breach in history, and a bounty of one million Poké Dollars on any information on this character. Now back to headquarters," the on-site reporter said, every word becoming a Power-Up punch to his conscience as the only reason for this, and the coincidence of it all struck the young boy.
Slowly, he backed out of the living room and walked to his study room. Entering the room, what met his eyes was Porygon2 lying on top of the CPU, its eyes closed in slumber or something in that way. As if sensing its creator, it woke up.
"Greetings, Master," it said in a more human voice, taking the tone of a male for some reason. "Please tell me you aren't the cause of the security breach?" Kevin asked in false hope. "If Master is talking about the twenty-three cyber-attacks claimed by KSS, then yes. In my quest to obtain information, I thought it was necessary to go to the most detailed database, and thus the NIS Database was chosen."
Those words broke Kevin as he stared listlessly, this caused a look of confusion on Porygon2. Going back to its database, a quick solution appeared. Suddenly, a small amount of psychic energy was mobilized from its energy reserves as it pulled a chair close to its master and proceeded to help Kevin sit down. This action completely escaped the boy as the effects of his actions attacked him.
"I'm a criminal," in an almost sob, he said. "According to the third amendment Law of Kanto, Master is innocent unless proven guilty. Thus, in this scenario, Master isn't a criminal," like an ever-resourceful helper, Porygon2 answered. "Wooooh!!" Kevin released aloud, realizing he had held his breath for a long time. "I guess you are right, Porygon2. Maaan, it's too much of a mouthful. Okay, how about I call you Mitnick after Kevin Mitnick… I've decided from now on you are Syn, short for synthrofos meaning comrade," Kevin said to the newly named Pokémon.
"Thank you, Master, for naming me," Syn responded. "Master, what may Nidoran's name be?"
"Oh, wow, I almost forgot to give him his name. Come on, let's go see how he's doing so far. His conditioning should be almost done," Kevin said, as he instructed Syn to enter his phone.
~ Nidoran's POV ~
It's been a while since I was left in this abandoned factory, according to what my trainer said. The place was not at all abandoned; various Pokémon clans made this place their territory, and my task was to establish dominance over this area. It was not a difficult task given that the strongest was the Ekans clan, whose territory took about half of the space, followed by the Meowth clan and then the Rattata clan. The leader of the Ekans clan was on the brink of its current stage based on the strength of its aura, while I was some distance from hitting that stage. But from the stature of the leader Ekans, its skinny body with faded scales, I wasn't scared of him. But as if knowing the ease of the task, my trainer added a limitation. I could only dodge and use leer to defeat my opponents, and each fight was on a platform where everyone could watch. To make it more interesting, my trainer made it into a competition where every time I am touched, a berry would be taken from my food stash and given to the opponent. This strange competition happened every evening for the next week, and my dodging and leer proficiency improved at a breakneck speed until I had become the overall boss. At the moment, I was relaxing on a bed of fur, as Meowth massaged my legs.
"Nidooo," the words left my mouth as comfort embraced my body. Suddenly, I felt the nice feeling stop, growling in annoyance I opened my eyes and turned towards the Meowth, but what met my eyes was a red-haired boy scowling at me.
"Nid!" I jumped in shock before quickly scrambling onto my feet, my eyes lowered in shame. "I see you are getting comfortable; it seems I should increase your training." A devil-like smile formed on his face, causing my body to shake in horror. The thought of the short but hellish training I did with him made me shrink down in fear.
"Niiii.Nido," pleading for mercy, I tried, but the smile grew even more maniacal, forcing me to stop. "Unfortunately, I didn't come here to punish you. Now onto the stage; let's see how you have improved," he said, taking it as a cue. I hurriedly scampered to the makeshift stage, which was just a space at the center of the building.
"You two and the rest of you four will be battling Nidoran, remember same old rules," Kevin commanded as the Ekans leader and the second strongest in his clan were called followed by the same to the two other clans. They quickly moved to the stage and adopted a battle stance.
"Start!" And the battle began with the two Rattatas using quick attack to close the distance, while the Ekans and Meowths each covered a flank. This was their strategy after competing with me for the past week. Unfortunately, I was better, and by better, I mean faster. Taking a controlled breath, my legs suddenly erupted as I charged towards the slower Ekans'. My plan was simply to use the surroundings to my advantage. Though we had made a clearing, some objects were left to make it more realistic. Using my superior speed, I reached the Ekans quickly and sent a full-powered leer at the two reptiles before jumping to escape a full-powered tackle from the two Rattatas who expectantly struck the Ekans head-on. Upon landing, a pair of sharp claws attempted to strike me, but my movements quickly allowed me to escape. Seeing the cunning eyes of the two cats, a small smirk appeared on my face, which unceremoniously ticked off the duo cats. Even if their intelligence is higher than the other two clans, they still have a fatal flaw, and that is to be easily angered. So, I began mocking them, slowly building up that rage while dodging attacks from the Ekans and Rattatas, and like a charm, rage engulfed the two feline Pokémon. Then, a chaotic dance began. I moved in between constant attacks while directing them toward their allies, and before long, I was wheezing, the slumped bodies of my opponents on the hard floor as I looked on with pride in myself. The intensive movements and high environmental awareness really took a load out of me, but I persisted and turned to my trainer as a smug smile wore my face. I could see his big smile as he neared me while my consciousness slowly faded, but before I could black out, a sentence reached me.
"Well done, Partner, I am very proud of you, and as of now, you will be called Ares, a true god of war and battle."
