Brawl

-- April 17th, 0AT --

With a burst of adrenaline, Deimos started sprinting into the room as the rocks around the room rose and started flying at Gideon, Tamora, and Lairon. Roggenrola rounded the corner and blasted Smack Down at the surprised Lairon, which was caught by surprise, stumbling as its armor cracked from the Stealth Rock and Smack Down attack. Roaring, it charged at the Roggenrola.

"SON OF A BITCH! GET THAT FUCKING ROCK!" Gideon snarled as rocks collided with his body. Tamora unsurprisingly curled into a ball to minimize the damage. As the stealth rock ran out of power, fights erupted in the room; Gideon and Deimos collided in a full-out brawl, a dagger against axes, while an armor-fractured Lairon and Roggenrola slammed into each other full force.

Ducking under a sudden swing of an axe, Deimos jumped back as sparks flew off his dagger, and he narrowly redirected the other axe Gideon swung at him.

"You know I was going to find you after this, but even better that you came right to me!" Gideon snarled with a vicious grin. Deimos bobbed and weaved through the attacks Gideon threw at him. The clash continued, Deimos on the defensive as Gideon wielded his axes with deadly precision, no movement wasted.

However, it was only a matter of time before Deimos was hit.

"AGH," Deimos unconsciously cried out as an axe tore through his thigh as he failed to dodge it in time. Hobbling back to disengage, Deimos quickly looked over to Lairon and Roggenrola only to find both Pokemon engaged in a standoff. Lairon had cracks covering its armor and rocks piercing it, while Roggenrola had three long gashes in its body.

"Hurry up, Roggenrola; I need your help, buddy!" Deimos called out while keeping an eye on Gideon's approach.

"Finish it, Lairon; it's a mere Roggenrola; CRUSH IT!" Gideon snarled at his Pokemon, clearly not happy with its performance.

The Lairon, in an attempt to please its trainer, threw itself at Roggenrola with a metal claw charged up and ready to use. Deimos, seeing an opportunity, yelled out,

"SMACKDOWN THROUGH ITS SKULL ROGGENROLA,"

"DODGE NOW," Gideon roared, recognizing the fatal mistake that Lairon had made in its panicked rush to end the fight.

As the Lairon lurched forward to end the fight, claws gleaming with steel energy, Roggenrola performed Smack Down. A jagged rock lifted off the floor before moving forward and piercing the Lairon directly between the eyes as it attempted to dodge but could not.

"ROGGENROLA," the little Roggenrola cried out in victory as it glowed with white light. Shielding his eyes, Deimos watched as the white light grew brighter and brighter before fading away. In its place stood a blue, rock-like Pokemon with an array of red crystals on its body and a spine protruding from between its yellow ears. It had three pincers and looked ready to continue fighting until it collapsed on the ground, exhausted.

Nearly frothing at the mouth, Gideon threw himself at the distracted Deimos, cutting into his right bicep, causing Deimos to let go of his dagger and fall to the ground to dodge the follow-up swing of Gideon's second axe.

Chuckling, Gideon walked towards Deimos and said,

"You almost had me, boy, but you weren't good enough. Better luck next time," before he raised an axe and froze.

Deimos watched as Gideon stood frozen, hovering over him with an axe raised. Slowly, blood started leaking out of his mouth as the man, in shock, muttered,

"What...?"

"You talk too much," Tamora wheezed out from behind him with a hand attached to the knife that was plunged into his neck.

Gideon's body toppled to the right as Tamora shoved the body in that direction. Tamora slowly lowered herself to the ground, one hand clutching her left side, where it looked like a chunk of her body had been taken out.

Looking at Deimos, she said, grab my bag from the corner over there and bring me a potion. Nodding, Deimos slowly got up and limped to a bag discarded in the back right corner. Grabbing it, he returned to the middle of the room where Tamora was before looking through it. Holding a potion, he handed it to her before grabbing another to treat his wounds.

After treating his wounds that were less severe than Tamora's, Deimos walked over to Roggenrola and used a potion to patch up any critical damage the Lairon had dealt. Recalling Roggenrola, Deimos walked back over to Tamora before asking the question that had been on his mind since the battle ended,

"What now?"

Tamora, who was finishing addressing her wounds, looked up at Deimos before saying,

"Give me a minute to finish healing my injuries."

"Sure, just tell me when," Deimos said before walking to the wall behind her. Deimos had seen the wall earlier while spying on Gideon but didn't have a close view of it. He had thought many murals were painted on the wall depicting a scene, but instead, there was only one scene.

The scene depicted a Pokemon with four legs resembling the Sacred Four mountains and their positioning. It had two horns and appeared to be slamming its hooves into the ground, causing the landscape to change. It depicted mountains rising, falling, and the ground being split open for miles.

An image of sheer, raw power.

"What is it," Deimos asked Tamora, knowing she was listening in case he said anything.

Tamora grunted to her feet before joining Deimos in looking at the mural.

"It's called Terrakion, a Rock/Fighting type legendary Pokemon. It's said the original full-blooded Terrakion is from Unova; however, Captain Ujiteru believes that a half-blooded descendant of it may be living somewhere among the Sacred Four mountain range." Tamora said, revealing the purpose of the mission.

"If he wanted it so bad, why didn't he come himself? After all, it is a legendary." Deimos asked, confused as to why the Captain wouldn't just come and search himself.

"The Captain is a high-ranking officer among the Cragspur military; his absence would be noticed, and Lord Ujiyasu would most likely label him a traitor for deserting his post."

Nodding his head, Deimos agreed with what Tamora was saying.

"So where do we go from here," Deimos asked.

"I've already captured a picture of the mural on my room phone; we'll head back to the Captain and decipher it there when he debriefs us," Tamora said before spinning on her heel and heading towards her Solrock.

Deimos, turning, headed towards the entrance before pausing to wait for Tamora. Upon reaching the Solrock, Tamora put a hand on the Pokemon and said a few words under her breath. A tear leaked from her eye before being wiped away as quickly as it had come. Pulling her hand away from Solrock, Tamora checked her rotom phone before heading to the entrance to meet with Deimos.

"We're to head to the Capital. Captain Ujiteru is currently stationed there and wants to see us both. We aren't to stop anywhere on the way back. I'll be relying on you and your Boldore, which congratulations on its evolution." Tamora spoke softly, clearly recovering from the loss of her Pokemon.

"Thank you, and I understand," Deimos replied.

"Good, let's go," Tamora said as she left the cave.

Taking one last look at the mural, Deimos turned and joined Tamora in leaving the cave. The journey to the Sacred Four had been a profitable experience for him. He had found four smooth stones, Roggenrola had evolved into Boldore, but more importantly, he had recovered information on a half-blooded legendary Pokemon.

Smiling to himself behind Tamora's back, Deimos walked out of the cave and into the sunlight, knowing that his journey had just taken a turn for the best.

Wow, that was a lot. The first mini-arc is now concluded, though. It might be time to move on from Cragspur soon, or not. We'll see ;).

Leave a comment and shoot me some powerstones; the more it happens, the more motivation I have to keep writing.
