Chapter 049

"Charmander! Use scratch!" yelled Joseph.

The tips of Charmader's claws glowed white, and it ran towards Pidgey. Pidgey took off, into the air, but not before flinging sand into Charmander's eyes. Pidgey then proceeded to circle Charmander from the air.

Alex, started scanning the other Pidgey he could see on the tree. All of them were red potential, with an orange potential as the sole exception. He wondered why there was a blue talented Pidgey among them. Did the hack which forces maximum IV Pokemon encounters also get transferred over with the scanning cheat? Or was it just pure luck? Alex thought it was the latter, as most Pokemon he saw until now where nowhere close to Pokemon with high IVs, mostly reds and oranges, with the occasional Yellow. Maybe it was luck then, more specifically Joseph's luck.

"Charmander!" yelled Joseph, yanking back Alex's attention towards the ongoing battle.

"Pidgey seemed to have heavily tackled Charmnader, by descending fast and dodging the poorly aimed Scratch that Charmander sent. Charmander's accuracy must have taken a drip after being hit with a Sand Attack.

Pidgey ascended into the air again. Joseph yelled out to encourage Charmander. The Charmander too looked pumped up.

Pidgey descended fast again, using Tackle.

"Wait till Pidgey comes close to you and use Ember!" yelled Joseph.

Charmander waited until Pidgey was close and used Ember. Sadly, the aim was still off, as it went towards its wings instead. Pidgey easily dodged and connected with its Tackle again. Charmander fell down again, as Pidgey ascended.

"Charmander! Don't give up! We can still win this!" yelled Joseph. The Charmander scrambled onto its feet giving a determined cry.

Pidgey descended again, battling towards Charmander.

Joseph yelled, "Start accumulating energy for Ember, but don't fire it yet!" said Joseph.

Charmander inhaled, gathering Fire type energy. Pidgey came close to Charmander and was about to connect Tackle.

"Now jump towards Pidgey and grab on to it!" yelled Joseph. Charmander leapt toward the Pidgey, tanked Tackle, and pinned it to the ground.

"Now! Fire Ember!" yelled Joseph.

"Chaaar!" cried Charmader as it hit Pidgey with Ember.

The Pidgey was hit point blank and seemed to suffer a lot of damage

"Go Pokeball!" yelled Joseph as he threw a Pokeball at the downed Pidgey. The Pokeball flew towards Pidgey and sucjef it in. The Pokeball shook eight times, and finally stopped shaking, with a 'ding' sound, signifying capture.

Joseph ran towards the Pokeball. He picked it up, raised it up and yelled, "We caught Pidgey! Way to go Charmander!"

"Chaaar!" cried Charmander, seemingly also celebrating.

"Congratulations buddy!" said Alex.

"Thanks. Do you think I should go back to the Oak Corall to heal Pidgey?" asked Joseph.

"No need. Pokemon are highly resistant to taking hits. This Pidgey did not suffer too serious damage. Just some surface injuries. You can directly take it to the Viridian Pokemon Center" said Alex.

"Okay!" said Joseph, clutching the Pokeball.

The Pidgey on the trees all took off for some reason. The boys did not get alarmed, as it was common for Pidgey to change trees every few hours.

"Well! This is it, Alex! The beginning of my journey. I am glad you are here to see it!" said Joseph, hugging Alex.

Alex patted him on the back and said, "I know you will do just awesome buddy."

The boys said their goodbyes, and Alex prepared to return to Pallet Town.

Suddenly, Joseph froze, and asked, "What is that sound?"

Alex stopped, and tried to hear it. He vaguely heard a drawn out sound that seemed to be coming from a distance.

They looked around, and coudnt spot anything. Suddenly, Alex saw a black spot in the distance.

"There," he yelled, pointing.

Joseph looked over curiously at the black spot in the distance.

It came closer and closer, until it swooped down and landed on the tree in front of them.

It was a large bird Pokemon, with a white and brown body, reddish tail feathers, and an orange and red trailing crown.

Its enormous body was littered with ferocious looking scars and gashes, and its eyes seemed to have hints of red in them.

It coldly looked down, regarding the frightened boys.

Alex subconsciously brought up its stats.

"A level 59 Pidgeot? How the heck did we have this kind of encounter in an F rated route? Is it the mother of the Pidgey Joseph captured and pissed at us for capturing his child?" thought Alex in Panic.

"Pidgeooooot" it cried.
