S3E6: South Bound

The next morning Foxx and Dawn yawned as they both tiredly got out of bed and showered before getting dressed and heading down to breakfast. Now they both had stepped out of their rooms at the same time only to nervously blush before walking together to breakfast. Now neither one of them said a single word as they walked down the hall, nor as they rode the elevator down to the ground floor. In fact it wasn't until they filled their plates and sat down at a table.

"So Dawn how'd you sleep last night?" sheepishly asked Foxx as he poked at his food with his fork.

"Not really I think there was something wrong with my bed." sighed Dawn a she rubbed the back of her neck before noticing Foxx look away so she added, "I doubt it was something you had control over."

"Oh well maybe next time I'll double check the rooms before I sign the paper work." sighed Foxx as he began to eat.

"Foxx I said you most likely had no control over it. Besides it could've just been the fact I'm still used to sleeping on the ground because of traveling with Ash." confessed Dawn as he hand found it's way on top of his. They both blushed before pulling away.

"Yah but you still get a good bed at least as long as I'm able to have a say about it." sighed Foxx not sure why he did say anything about him not getting the proper sleep last night either, other then the fact he knew the it had nothing to do with his bed.

"Why is that?" asked Dawn before starting to eat some of her food.

"Because you're a nice young lady who deserves the best." replied Foxx trying not to give away too much of his true feelings.

"I see. Does that mean you don't think I'm fit to travel all across the regions through forests and wild areas?" asked Dawn hurt that he might think something like that but wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt.

"No not at all." sighed Foxx as he rubbed the back of his neck trying to think of the proper way to phrase things. "I think you're both strong enough and capable of doing whatever you want. That doesn't mean you don't deserve the best."

"Well thanks" blushed Dawn as she started to play with her hair a bit. Then after a short bit of silent eating she looked up at him and asked, "So Foxx what are your plans for after Christmas?"

"Not sure. Kurt said he's taught me all that he can." confessed Foxx with a shrug of his shoulders, "I mean I could head over to the Orange Islands to meet with Professor Ivy concerning a small project of mine but other then that I'm not sure because what I she can tell me in person I can also lear over the phone. Why?"

"Well I was thinking you could always join me and Ash on our journey." replied Dawn with a blush as she also played with the little remainder of her food on her plate.

"I guess it all depends on how well he takes to my parents since they'd be most likely coming along or staying to help Professor Oak." sighed Foxx as he started to wonder if maybe Professor Oak was right and him bringing his parents would be a bad idea.

"I'm sure he would understand and though things might be hard at first I think he'll be okay afterwards." replied Dawn in hopes of cheering him up some, "Besides its Christmas you never really know what will happen."

"Maybe you're right." replied Foxx with a half smile as they finished their food.

They didn't talk much more after that since they'd both finished eating. In stead they went up to wake up Jessie and James before the four of them grabbed their things and headed south to Vermilion City. It was mostly a quiet trip as Foxx and Dawn really didn't want to say too much out of fear of spilling the beans on how they really felt about each other. Not to mention they were both really tired from not getting much sleep.

As for Jessie and James they both followed behind with the gifts in a small cart that Foxx had rented. They didn't speak as they were afraid that something was going on between Foxx and Dawn, not wanting to interfere. Thus everyone just walked quietly until they reached their camp.

Once they found a place to camp Joy who'd been walking between Foxx and Dawn quickly jumped up in his lap and curled up there almost glaring at Dawn. As for Dawn she sighed as she put her things down before stretching.

"I guess I can start dinner Jessie you want to help?" asked Dawn.

"No please don't let her cook!" exclaimed both Meowleth and James at the same time.

"Well I'm still going to need a hand so Jessie you want to help?" asked Dawn half ignoring their concern.

"Well it's true I'm a horrible cook." sighed Jessie.

"Well I can show you a few things as we cook together then." replied Dawn with a smile.

"Thanks." replied Jessie happy that she was still willing to let her help and would even shower a few things about cooking.

"Well I guess we'll starve then." sighed James as he and Meowleth flopped down on the ground next to Foxx.

"Oh she can't be that bad plus Dawn will help her and I bet they'll make a great meal together." replied Foxx.

Meanwhile while Dawn and Jessie got things ready to start making dinner Jessie could sense something was bothering Dawn, so she shuffled close to her and placed a hand on her shoulder.

"Dawn what's bothering you?" asked Jessie.

"I don't think Joy likes me." sighed Dawn as she continued to gather the cooking utensils.

"What makes you say that?" asked Jessie trying to actually help her.

"She seems to glare at me a lot if I look at or try talking to Foxx." confessed Dawn.

"Well she's just a pokemon. I don't think she's actually-" started Jessie taking a glance at Foxx and Joy to see her glaring at Dawn, "Nope you're right she's so glaring at you."

"See she hates me." sighed Dawn, "Thus Foxx hates me."

"Not true she could just be jealous of you." replied Jessie with a smile, "They've been together since before he started his pokemon journey and she might see you as a threat to his love for her."

"You sure?" asked Dawn.

"Nope!" replied Jessie honestly, "Just wait until we reach the next town and give Professor Oak a call he'd know more about pokemon behavior then me."

"Well thanks anyways Jessie." replied Dawn with a smile. "Let's get cooking before the guys start whining about being hungry."
