Ch15: Nugget Bridge

Wes had his Pokemon, greet the new team member Staryu. After that he went into one of the trainer rooms in the Pokemon Center to rest. On the bed Wes was thinking about the future growth, of his Pokemon.

" The leveling speed of my team has slowed down. I need to increase their strength fast since Gym 3 to Gym 6 are all quite close with eachother. Teaching some new Moves, could help in the long run. Ok lets see what i can teach them right now."

Wes opened his system and immediately checked the Moves his Pokemon could learn.

"Ok Eevee can learn Helping Hand with the help of Umbreon. That will be useful for Double Battles. Umbreon can also teach Hyper Beam if Eevee evolves. Also the Wish Move is good in general. Umbreon's gonna have a field day teaching Eevee. Ok that's about Eevee. Ohh I also need, to use her more this days so her level can catch up to Umbreon's."

Wes satisfied with this three Moves for now and he Moved towards Umbreon.

" Umbreon can learn Detect from Eevee. It will help when it comes to dodge something dangerous. Also Eevee teaching Umbreon is like a gift from haven for him. Wait aaaa...WHAAAAAAAAT!!!!!!!! UMBREON CAN LEARN Sucker Punch???? I also have the perfect teacher for that."

Then Wes moved towards his other Pokemon. Nidorino would learn Bubble Beam from Staryu. Ivysaur would train using its Vine Whip Move a lot of times in order for it to have a better chance of comprehending the Power Whip Move. Of course training using a Move without a Pokemon that Knows that Move to help, would take some time. For Butterfree Wes would have it learn Teleport from Staryu.

For Charmeleon Wes wasn't able to find something. He would have it train at punching for the chance to learn Power-Up-Punch or Fire Punch. Wes decided to wait before teaching Staryu. He just got it and it had no experience with his fighting style. Though he made plant to teach it with the help of Umbreon the Confuse Ray Move. Of course he would teach it the Protect Move with his TM tomorrow after he woke up.

"Ok that's about enough for now. They're not the best choices in the world with some exceptions but their good for now."

Wes satisfied with his plans finally fell asleep. Tomorrow he would visit Bill but first there was something to do in the way that he didn't tell to Misty. The famous, from the games Nugget bridge challenge. On the bridge of Cerulean City in the games, the final opponent would gift the winning player with a Nugget. Of course he would later try to recruit the player for Team Rocket. So Wes planned to win the challenge, get his free Nugget, beat the shit out of the Team Rocket Grunt, ste.... no gift himself some more Nuggets from the beat up Grunt and finally calling the police to arrest the Grunt receiving the bounty in the process. With all that and the Star Pieces he had found at Mt.Moon he should be able to get some quite expensive unbreakable TMs for his Pokemon to learn.

The midnight sky of Cerulean City was quite beautiful and flying very high in the full of stars sky, a majestic red bird with a golden tail could be briefly seen. What a pity most people on the City were sleeping and those awake were in a bar drinking or doing some naughty staff.It was a pity for Wes, because that huge bird was his favourite Pokemon after all.

The next day came. Wes woke up and after he washed his face and brushed his teeth, he wore his clothes and left the Pokemon Center for the nicknamed, from his world Nugget Bridge.

The first trainer he faced was a Bug Catcher. Wes made quick work out of him. Eevee beat his Caterpie and Weadle. While Butterfree took care of Metapod and Kakuna.

The second challenge was a young woman with a Pidgey and two Grass Types. Eevee took care of the Pidgey. While Charmeleon crashed the rest of her team.

The third fight was a youth with an Ekans and a Sandshrew. Eevee beat both of them and Wes moved for his forth one. Another Lass. he had a double battle with her. Eevee and Umbreon in a battle, that the result could be considered as an overkill took place.

"Finally. One more and the grunt is next."

Wes finally reached his final challenge before the Rocket Grunt and his prize.

Youth: Hello there. I am the fifth and final challenge so get ready to loose.

Wes remembering the Pokemon this fight had chose to use his Ivysaur. The youth instead called out his Mankey.

Wes: Ok Ivysaur use Growl.

Youth: Mankey use Karate Chop.

Ivysaur roared at Mankey lowering its Atk stat by one stage. Mankey hit Ivysaur in the head with a chop from its hand. Since Ivysaur resisted Fighting Type Moves it received little damage.

Wes: Ivysaur Growl again.

Youth: Mankey use Focus Punch.

Ivysaur did the same think again as Mankey's fist glowed with a pale white light. Then Mankey Punched Ivysaur hard knocking it backwards for a few steps. Thanks to the resistance from the typing match up and the -2 Atk stat of Mankey Ivysaur had only lost a bit above 1/4th of its HP (28,3%).

Youth: Mankey Pursuit.

Wes: Ivysaur Protect. Then Leech Seed.

Mankey enveloped in a black aura, bounced of the green dome protecting Ivysaur. Then Ivysaur lunched a seed on Mankey. The seed took root and it drained Mankey's HP healing Ivysaur in the process.

Youth: Mankey use Focus Punch.

Wes: Ivysaur use Seed Bomb.

Mankey's fist started glowing but Ivysaur lunched huge seeds on Mankey blasting it away. The glow on the fist of the Mankey dissipated immediately.

Youth: grrrrrrrr. Mankey use Seismic Toss.

Wes: Protect then Vine Whip Ivysaur.

Mankey was once again bounced of the green protective dome. Ivysaur immediately counter attacked with its Vine Whip Move. Mankey was directly knocked back. Then a strange red light enveloped Mankey for the third time in the fight. The Mankey that stood up with a lot of difficulty fainted after the light dissipated. Wes had won the Nugget Bridge Challenge.

Wes: That was a good fight.

Youth: Yes it was a good fight. You can receive your prize at the end of the bridge.

Wes: Ok. Thanks.

Then Wes moved towards the end of the bridge.

???: Congratulations for the win. Here's a Nugget for your win.

Wes was immediately greeted by a man in a shop clerk outfit and he received his prize.

???: Sorry but can i ask you something.

Wes: Sure.

Wes knowing what was coming got ready.

???: I'll make you an offer you can't refuse. How about joining a very elite group? With your talent you could easily become an executive member.

Wes: I would never join, to a pack of thieves.

Grunt: What are you talking about? We are the best Pokemon gangsters around let me show you.

The grunt and Wes immediately summoned their Pokemon. Wes had called out his Staryu and Eevee. The grunt on the other hand called out his Ekans and Golbat.

Grunt: Ekans use Screech on Eevee. Golbat use Supersonic on Staryu.

Wes: Eevee use Detect then Quick Attack. On Golbat. Staryu Teleport then Bubble Beam.

Staryu immediately teleported behind Golbat avoiding the Supersonic in the process. Eevee dodged to the left at the very last moment full in control. Then Eevee hit Golbat with its Quick Attack Move. The Bubble Beam after that hit the Golbat on its back sending it flying towards Eevee. Seeing this chance Eevee immediately, without its trainers order used its Bite Move. Eevee bit the Golbat and she tossed it towards Staryu.

Grunt: Ekans Dark Pulse. Golbat try to dodge.

Wes: Eevee Protect. Staryu Swift.

Eevee got infront of Ekans deflecting the Dark Pulse with its Protect Move. Staryu lunched a lot of stars towards the Golbat. Golbat managed to dodge by hairs breath but the stars turned around hiting the unsuspecting Golbat.

The Rocket Grunt was stunned at what had happened.

Wes: Eevee Swift towards the Ekans. Staryu use Bubble Beam.

Before the Grunt could order his Pokemon in his panic Staryu knocked out the Golbat. Eevee's Shift hit the Ekans hard.

Grunt: Ekans use Poison Tail.

Eevee Protect then Quick Attack.

Eevee blocked the Poison Tail of Ekans and counter attacked with its Quick Attack.

Wes: Staryu Swift.

Staryu put the final nail in the coffin defeating the Ekans.

Grunt: No.

Wes: Now

The Grunt returned back his defeated Pokémon and was surprised attacked by Staryu, suddenly teleporting behind him and hiting him with his Bubble Beam Move. Eevee also hit him at the same time with a Quick Attack in his stomach. The Rocket Grunt immediately fainted.

Wes made sure he was knocked out, before going close. The trainers on the bridge rushed towards the commotion. Wes immediately screamed at them.

Wes: He is with TEAM Rocket. Call the Police.

Youth: !!!!!!!!!! Ok got it.

The youth with the Mankey answered him. Then he and the bug catcher went to call the officer will the other 3 went to the other edge of the Bridge so that they can get the Grunt if he tries to escape toward the City. Wes who was left all alone, checked the Grunt. Under the clerk clothing, he was wearing his team Rocket uniform. He had a huge spiked whip on his side and a pouch in one of his pockets holding 15 Nuggets. Wes took five of them and left the other 10 as evidence.

The Police finally arrived and arrested the Grunt. Since he looked a bit more important than a normal grunt the Police officer gave Wes a Nugget as his Bounty for this capture. After a bit of questioning Wes left for Bills house. On the way he had 8 battles with the trainers in the area. He focused using his Eevee and Ivysaur, while Butterfree had some battles also. Staryu fought alone two of the hikers, he had found. Then he stopped on a clearing, he had found 9 minutes away from Bills house. He would stay there and have his Pokemon train there for 3/4 hours. It was still to early to pay a visit.

As the training proceeded a sudden cry put a stop to everything.

Eevee: Eeveeeeeeeeeeee.

Eevee cried out and was suddenly enveloped in a bright white light. The sun was scorching hot on the whole area. Umbreon was anxious and it started hiting the right leg of Wes, so he could do something. Wes on the other hand had a huge smile on his face.

Wes: It was about time for this to happen.

Eevee enveloped in the white light started changing and growing in a very fast pace. Then when the evolution process finished and the white light that was enveloping Eevee dissipated, a fully purple Pokemon with a red gem on its forehead appeared. It gave a feeling full of nobility and grace to anyone that laid its eyes upon it. Umbreon's mouth was so wide that an Electrode would fit inside and it was possible that some empty space would still exist after that. Wes checked Umbreon's status and he was immediately shocked by the remark of the system.

Status of Umbreon: ITS OVEEER 9000.

" WHAT A LOVE STRUCK GUY."

Espeon on the other hand was getting used to its new changes, but by mere coincidence, its eyes met Umbreon's face. After seeing Its reaction, Espeon immediately turned red and embarrassed. Umbreon catching sight of that, was even more shocked. Wes on the other hand used his system so it was possible to see the new status of Eevee... No Espeon.

"Perfect it managed to learn Psybeam. Ok guys time to move on. Espeon congratulations on evolving.

After a bit of time Wes returned his Pokemon into their Pokeballs. All except Espeon that was on the shoulders of Wes. Wes started going towards Bill wondering what advantage he would receive.
