Leveling up

Still sitting on the tree, Chris began to reconsider his tactics.

'That was really scary. The next time I can't just run back all the way to this tree. I should find a new one that is closer to a group of rabbits and install the ladder there. Furthermore after leveling up I definitely need to choose a control skill to keep them from attacking me.'

Having regenerated back all of his health points, he started to remove the ladder from the tree. Making sure that no rabbits were close, he started to climb down and began searching for a new group a horned rabbits. In no time another group of five rabbits was found.

Installing the ladder on a tree close to his new throwing point, he repeated his farming strategy. This time however he got out unscratched gaining twenty-five more experience. Reinstalling his ladder on another tree and killing five more horned rabbits gained him a level up.

The level up triggered a glowing light that started to shot out of his eyes, forming a rune pattern in the air. The glow intensified and the pattern flew directly back into his eyes.

'I'm not lacking mana right now so the first thing I'm going to do is to put all my points into intelligence. At first I thought using arcane as a secondary tree would be a good option. Using an arcane shield to block of enemies sounded like a great idea and even the teleportation skill seemed like a must have.

But now I think that using the dark tree to use binding skills would be a better option for me. The skill `Shadow Bind´ sounds like a good extension for my build. In the future, a skill to hide myself or a skill to create doppelgangers for me sounds even better than a shield.

Even though it's a pain to lose a teleportation spell, the dark tree has something similar but not as effective. So instead off leveling up my poison ball, I'm going to choose the sub tree now. Choose dark tree.'

The first thing Chris did was to remove the ladder from the tree and find a new group of rabbits. Then he continued the same routine by throwing a stone at the rabbits as he ran back to the next tree where he had set up the ladder.

This time however, before the rabbits tried to jump up the tree, Chris cast shadow bind on them. At the moment he casted shadow bind, below the feet of the four rabbits, deep black lines were shooting out of the ground, completely binding up the horned rabbits.

No matter how much the rabbits struggled it was all in vain, they couldn't move at all. Only after the four seconds ended the binds were released. Obviously Chris wasn't wasting his time, he shoot many poison ball on the rabbits while they were immobilized.

After some time even these four rabbits were finished off without much effort. Looking at the sky, the sun was still shining brightly. Having at least five hours left until the sun would set, Chris started to farm the remaining horned rabbits.

After four hours of intensive grinding he killed another forty seven horned rabbits, increasing his experience by a huge chunk. With only one hour left until sunset, he packed up his ladder and started his way back to the cave.

No matter how stupid someone was, everyone would understand that fighting in the middle of the night would be suicide. Apart from the fact that you cannot see much, many predators come out of their holes at night.

Having not much to do while going back to the cave, Chris looked over his status once more.

'Tomorrow I should level up some more, with more damage I should be able to kill them even without using such a tactic.'

Traveling for about an hour, Chris arrived at the cave just before the sun set. Going back into the cave, he lied down on the hard and cold ground. Even though it would be a really bad idea for a normal person to lie down on such a cold floor, to Chris it didn't matter.

After checking his body all day, he noticed that he neither required to eat nor to drink. Meaning he wouldn't get sick from lying on a stone floor as well. As long as his health regeneration worked he should be immune to normal illnesses.

He probably wasn't immortal and would still die out of old age, but he still had a long time until this would happen.

Sleeping soundly for a whole night, Chris woke up after feeling completely recovered. As he stepped out of the cave, the sun was already high up in the sky and the glaring sunlight greeted him.

While making his way over to his farming grounds, Chris enjoyed the good weather. He even let his eyes feast on the lush grass and the beautiful flowers on the grassland. Without a care in the world he arrived at the edge of the forest.

The first thing Chris noticed was, that no rabbit corpse remained, only a red stain was left on the ground where he dug the holes. Having already expected this outcome, Chris didn't really mind.

Walking alongside of the edge of the forest, Chris became dumbfounded. Not a single rabbit could be found, no matter how far he walked and not even a single hair could be seen.

Seemingly the remaining rabbits were way too scared to enter the edge of the forest again, leaving Chris without monsters to hunt. The only option left for him, was to enter the depth of the forest.

Even though dangerous a lot of opportunities awaited him. Unknown monster, treasures and maybe even civilization. Finding a settlement of humans would be the best thing that could happen to him. With a party it would be much easier to kill monsters and maybe he could even get some items to improve his stats.

Dreaming of these possibilities, Chris entered the forest. At first he advanced slowly through the woods, looking at every stone, bush and tree on his way. Maybe some monster would lay an ambush in one of these bushes.

The forest was rather dense and not much sunlight was coming through the tree tops. Every now and then there were a few branches on the ground that he had to climb over. Some moss was even growing on those trees, giving the forest an old feeling.

Sometimes there were even some claw marks on the trees, hinting that some monsters must reside in the vicinity. Traveling for about an hour without even seeing any monsters, he started to speed up his pace.

Even though a bit more dangerous, he wasn't that patient and wasting all day was not his style. After walking for a good amount of time, the forest became thinner and only a few trees remained, allowing much more light to pass through.

In the distance he could make out some wooden structures, like poles connected to a carved head at the top. Getting closer he could even see some wooden huts, surrounded by a fence. These huts looked kind of strange, they were really small with straw on top.

On some of them even some animal bones were used as ornaments and the small fence would probably barely reach his chest. Cautiously he got behind a tree, advancing slowly from tree to tree allowing him to see more and more of this little settlement.

After advancing up to five meters from the fence, he could see about twenty small wooden huts, one big hut and one hut that was completely decorated in ornaments like feather, bones and carvings.

Even more disturbing were some small green creatures walking around in the settlement. Having pimples all over their body, a mouth filled with yellow, crooked teeth and a deformed face made a hideous sight. Looking at their appearance nearly made Chris throw up.

They were dressed in shabby racks, sometimes only covered by some fur. On their belt was either some dagger like weapon or a small club. Being disgusted but still interested in these new monster he used inspect on them.

Type: Goblin

Level: 1

Health: 25

---------------------

Strength: 2

Dexterity: 2

Intelligence: 1

---------------------

Description: A brutal and hideous creature that lives together with it brethren. Being cunning and stealing other people belongings is a main trait of this race. Their mental age however is no more than a three years old. To reproduce they kidnap females from other races. A coarse, raspy sounding and slightly high-pitched voice is one of their trade marks. Don't let them scream or fell the wrath of a whole tribe.

______________________

'Oh good they are only goblins. At least they don't have so much health like the horned rabbits. Furthermore compared to the rabbits, they are kind of slow with their short legs. I should observe the settlement some more and make a plan to eradicate them all.'

After waiting for a long time and inspecting all those goblins that moved around the camp, he could make out different types of them. Like A strength type that set all of his points into strength after leveling up.

______________________

Type: Goblin

Level: 2

Health: 30

---------------------

Strength: 7

Dexterity: 2

Intelligence: 1

Description: … This type of goblin is usually extremely dumb and loves strength over everything and will invest all of his points into his strength. Found mostly in front of all the other goblins charging at their enemy. Has a change to evolve into a goblin warrior or a goblin beserker.

______________________

Another one was an agility type that set all of his points into dexterity.

______________________

Type: Goblin

Level: 2

Health: 30

---------------------

Strength: 2

Dexterity: 7

Intelligence: 1

Description: … This type of goblin is more cunning, but still extremely dumb and loves dexterity over everything and will invest everything it has into dexterity. Found mostly sneaking around behind some other goblins to surprise an enemy. Later on it might even evolve into a goblin thief or a goblin archer.

______________________

Differently from the strength type that seemed to use a club, the dexterity type seemed to only use the dagger. Until now he counted twenty two level one goblins, eighteen dexterity goblins and twenty one strength goblins.

To his surprise only two of them were completely different than these normal goblins.

______________________

Type: Goblin Shaman

Level: 3

Health: 50

---------------------

Strength: 2

Dexterity: 2

Intelligence: 15

Description: … Rarely a goblin evolves into a shaman able to cast some low level magic spells. Mostly a simple fireball is their limit. Still they have other ways to strengthen their brethren, through drawing on their bodies they can enchant their strength. Don't confuse this goblin with a normal one, this one is extremely smart compared to his brethren and able to formulate tactics for their tribe. With a shaman in their midst they are all the more dangerous because they no longer act blindly.

______________________

The goblin shaman was wrapped in a fur coat decorated with feathers and bones. On his head sat a wooden mask in the shape of a grimace, decorated like a peacock's tail with feathers. In his hand he held a long carved wooden staff engraved with a rune pattern. A faint pulsing glow was emitted from those runes.

______________________

Type: Weak Goblin Champion

Level: 5

Health: 200

---------------------

Strength: 30

Dexterity: 12

Intelligence: 7

Description: … Even though only a weak goblin champion, one shouldn't look down on a goblin champion. Being smarter and way stronger than a normal goblin, it mostly leads a tribe unless a shaman is present. This type of goblin spells trouble, goblin champions are extremely brutal and like to toy with their prey. Bashing the limbs of enemies to a pulp is an enjoyment for them.

______________________

The weak goblin champion was garbed in a leather armor without any kind of decoration. Instead of a pair of pants, he wore a kind of kilt around his waist. Unlike a normal goblin, this one was twice as big and a lot more muscular. In his hands he held a big club, which looked gigantic compared to its size.

Tomorrow you get another one around the same time.
