The Spring ball, held by the Royal Family and the members of Nobility happens every year. At this time of the year, all of the Kingdom head towards the Imperial City to celebrate the Spring Festival which is traditional there. Of course, as harmonious as it might sound, it's that much pain.
As every year passes and the Spring Festival is coming, more people are coming to the Castano Fief. There are three main houses of Dukedom. One is the Archdukedom, the other is the Castano, and the last one is Valerius. Yes, the DukeLords own a fief.
And as more people enter our fief, more labor work comes in my way. And all of this equals trouble. Tch... how unlucky... I should put on a poster that says: Shoo!
Of course, I hadn't reached my debut yet, I wouldn't have to worry about all of these affairs until two years. So... I'm slacking.
It's quite fun actually, this time of the year, my everyday, annoying bothersome tutors wouldn't be coming in- including that brat... named God* I made my way to cancel all my affairs last month and he went to cling onto my shoes.
(*Achoo* someone sneezes faraway)
So I am doing my daily routine like a loner. Sleep, eat, sit, and repeat. It's fun. Staring out the window and not working. In my last life, I burnt my energy and soul working to gain power. Now I am wondering why I was so stupid before.
"Mademoiselle, You have an invitation from his Highness, the Emperor,"
I was middle of my naptime, yes*** I personally made my schedule at last. After I heard what the maidservant said, I quickly went up from my sleep and said:
"An audience?" I say.
"Yes, he asks for all of the Fief lords to gather for the Spring Term Festival," she said. I froze. More trouble... I sneer inside my breath. The Emperor just wants to put more money & Trouble to make sure his Kingdom is in PEACE... well I'm sorry to tell you are WRONG. Your kingdom is going to hell. And I am not... one BIT Bothering or interfering with it anyways!
I'm here for my vacation! And I won't leave out that freaking door until I get it~
"I understand, prepare the carriage, and inform the Butler," I say as I force myself out of my daze. I yawned loudly as I began to change immediately. Sigh*** trouble is coming... prepare my ass- I mean *horses.*
*** [TIME SKIP]
"Her Excellency! Mademoiselle, Lade Castano is arriving~" the announcer said as I made my way into the Royal Palace. The choking annoying palace made me wait to cough. Ugh... center of doomsday... holy my lucky halo will not work.
"Greetings to his Highness," I say as I bow down and pay respects to the 65-year-old tomato man, who was watching with an amused smile on his face. I internally sighed* Yup smiling = trouble. I think my godly honor will not be able to defeat it.
"Lady Castano, please have my condolences for your father's death," the Emperor said, "my dearest best friend, I felt pity for him. Alas I couldn't make it to the funeral because of my overwork." he said.
My eyebrows twitched. Tch. Right. Half of the world has been using that excuse. I mean I am not offended the slightest bit... but still... I don't know why any dumb idiot will label my father as his best friend and say he couldn't come to his funeral??
It's either:
1. There was another tragic and important occurrence that dealt with the Country's security
2. Or, everything you said was just as fake.
And I am pretty much sure that it was the second option. Like what's a 65-year-old man got to do with overwork? I mean, he's a fat tomato...*cough* he's already a grandpa; He's a carbon copy statue of, 'I sit, you do work.'
Useless mongrels.
I held back my bitter thoughts and darkly smiled at him, "Thank you, Your Majesty,"
"Now arriving, His Excellency! Lord Archduke!" the messenger announced loudly. The doors opened and the familiar face of the Archduke walked through the door. I secretly frowned... wasn't this shy man supposed to be at war, yelling, "To Elerdria??"
"I am here, Your Highness, your request for my presence has been fulfilled," the Archduke said as he kneeled to the ground. His cloak was ragged with blood, and his sword was hanging off his waist.
He looked like he just woke from his sleep yesterday night to come here. But... why did the Emperor call us that it also required the 'War Hero,' to come from the battle stations?
"Yes thank you for coming, my Grandson," the Emperor said. The Archduke nodded and stood besides me as the messenger called out:
"To His Excellency! Duke Valerius!"
A familiar middle-aged man entered through the door, as soon as he entered, his presence turned horrifying. His aura was powerful than the Archduke himself! I met him a lot of times in my previous life. He was terrifying.
The dukedom of Valerius was all the way across the country and far away from Castano. Our houses never interacted currently. But in my previous life...
Ugh... I don't even want to talk to this guy. As far as I remembered, he was the second reason why I landed my head on my executioner table. I clenched my fists. I went all I could to gain more power but the Valerius didn't allow me. So I started to take them all down and they waged a small civil war between us.
Haha... Vacation time. Don't want to bother with the country! Nope!
"My greetings to your Highness," the middle-aged man said as he kneeled down at the tomato emperor.
"Same to you, My friend,"
I scoffed. Here we have it. But Emperor, be sure to make it to his funeral the next time.
"Your Highness, what is your purpose-?"
Before Duke Valerius could even ask, the Emperor cut him off and told the answer, "Yes, you must be wondering why I have called you all."
I resisted myself from scoffing. Dude, I have been waiting for ages as to why you wouldn't get straight to the point.
"It's quite troublesome to discuss these matters with a simple mind,"
Tch... circumventing the Duke's question? Simple mind? Yo, Emperor, you are the idol of 'I sit, you do work.' What do you want to discuss?
"I masked it with the reason of the Spring Term Ball. It's actually something else. I want to discuss to you about a possible war."
Hahaha... Wait. War?
WAR??
Sh*t. Sh*t. War = Trouble + Stay in the Kingdom + Helping + Not Leaving + Possibilities of Dying.
And a grand total of NO LEAVING for a vacation! I mean!
