“Leave me alone already,” Jamie scoffs. “I’m not scared of anything, least of all, not Thad. He doesn’t scare me.”
Mark starts, “Then you’re scared what other people might think…”
“I am not.” Jamie lunges at Mark, arms outstretched, hands flat, and pushes his friend back against the arm of the sofa. His voice raises in pitch, reallyangry now. “I don’t give a fuckwhat you or anyone else thinks. For your information, I’ve liked guys all my life, and when I finally told my mom I was gay, do you know what she said? She laughed, she actually laughed, and was like, oh honey, I already knew. Since I was six, she and my dad knew. So I’m not scared what anyonemight think because they don’t know me.”
